If tracking is your problem start slow. Take one afternoon and point everything in your house. Than for a week or two eat the same things like oatmeal for breakfast and turkey for lunch. Pre bag our snacks so you know the points. Doing this you will know your points. Each week you can add a few more items.
Another thing some people do is write it all down the night before. You can always change it but this way most of the tracking is done already.

I totally understand what you are saying. I think the new program is misleading. I was at goal for years and have gained some weight back also. To me the main problem is the free fruits and the way they calculate foods.
I personally have gone back to not counting fruit as free. Vegetables yes but not fruit. Most fruits are high in calories and sugar.
Watch you carb intake. You can be in your point range and still have a high amount of carbs. Try lean proteins and veggies.
Make sure you weigh and measure everything.
Drink all your water
Try to exercise daily. Getting a pedometer is a great idea. Wear it for a week withouth looking at it. After a week see what you averaged a day. Try to up it each week.

I was around 262 lbs the day I joined weight watchers. In a year, I managed to lose 70 lbs and hover in the 192 lb range before hitting a plateau. While fighting this plateau, the plan changed to the new points plus system they have now. I have not been able to get anywhere near that 192 range since.

I'll admit that I had some personal problems that affected my mental state and weight over the past year, but even when sticking to the plan to the letter, I cannot manage to lose more than an lb or two a week, when with momentum, I was losing between 3 and 5 a week... especially at my higher weights.

I'm now at 237 lbs. I've gained back 40 lbs of the 70 I had originally lost. I'm fighting from going all the way back up and beyond, so I started scouring the web looking for resources that are available for the last WW plan; the plan that had helped create a miracle in my life.

Everything I have found has been helpful, but right now, nothing is as accurate as the original WW calculator was...
