Hi everyone! I'm Valerie and I've been on WW off and on for years. I've recently tried the new P+plan and I find it a little too lenient for me and therefore I'm not losing anything. I've been keeping track with an app called Pts. Plus Diary and although I can tweek the plan and make it the old one, the scanner doesn't give the same point values as my old WW calculator. I started today with the calculator and actually writing down my points in one of the 3 month journal trackers (I had an old one barely used emoticon ).

I've been on SparkPeople for years and LOVE the support I get here. I joined a beginners runners team on here years ago and now I can actually run 3 miles!! That's huge for me.

I look forward to getting to know you all and hopefully sticking with my calculator and journal. I'm pretty sure my points allotment is 25 and then there's 35 extra week...I think.

Thanks for having me emoticon

Thanks Nicky820 for the warm emoticon

I will do my best to post during the week - I used to post very regularly daily, but found that my business day was impacted, so I've cut back- I check the posts late in the day and add when and if I feel it important....

Thanks again for the welcome!!!.

Well, RICHLADY, you've come to the right place! We've all had our troubles with the new PP+. I'm one of those new to WW, so I tweak the program, but many here are lifetimers who have gone back to Momentum, in particular. I have read that the site onemorepound.com is for Momentum users.

We're all here because PP+ has not been working for us, and we haven't been getting the support we need from WW.

I will soon be dropping my WW membership. I've come to love tracking calories and nutrients here on SP, and this team in particular provides me a safe place to crow and vent; whatever I need, someone has always stepped up and said exactly the right thing to motivate me.

Please post during the week, too, so that more members will see RICHLADY is now one of us! Our numbers dwindle during the weekend and summer months. Welcome. emoticon

Good Morning Everyone - want to introduce myself - I've been a W/W nearly as long as W/W has been around - since 1967 - have followed each evolution of W/W (wish I had saved each plan). I have been on SP for several years and love the support everyone gives everyone - it's wonderful...

I have not has much success w/the PP+ plan and have gotten extremely frustrated w/it since I am not shedding the weight. I recently tried the 17 Day Diet followed the menu plan - for me it was too restrictive at least for the 1st round.

In addition to the wgt I want to lose I also need to get my cholesterol down which is difficult as it is not from food - it genetic. I am currently on medication, I resisted it for a while and want to get away from the meds so the weight and more exercise will (I hope) help.

I believe I have the information for the Momentum Plan (plan b/4 PP+) if not is there info someplace on this team?

I found this team accidentally while reading an article, so glad you are here...

emoticon emoticon

OOPS - forgot to mention I am a W/W Lifetime member who is now over goal....

Welcome Corgidogmom/Nancy! Glad you found us. This team has been a real help to me and will be for you, too, I'm sure. It's full of helpful, knowledgeable people.

Thank you, thank you for this team! I have struggled with WW on and off for years - had success a long time ago (whichever the plan was right before Core was introduced) and although I love the PP idea of fruit being "free" I think it is stalling my efforts. I stress-eat and will consume so much fruit in one sitting (since it's free) I must be going way over that vague "eat to satisfaction" thing WW tells us about. I have great difficulty knowing when I am full - especially when the food tastes good or I'm trying to deal with my emotions.

If I go back to the old ways - there was a "range" of points, I think it was like 22-27 per day (I don't recall being able to "bank" them)...that worked well for me, even earned my 10% key ring! I would like to try tracking on Spark using calories but I'm a bit intimidated - tracking points has become a way of life whenever I am motivated enough to try and lose weight.

Looking forward to getting to know everyone!

Hello Everyone. I have been following WW points for almost 3 years. In that time, I lost 60 lbs. I am 5 ft 8.5 inches tall- I started at 201 and went down to 141.

Over the holidays I gained about 12 lbs and decided to try PP. After 2 weeks on PP, I lost 1 lb. It was very discouraging. I exercise on average 5 hours per week- cardio and weight training (Ripped DVD's by Jari Love). I had worked out like a dog and followed PP to the letter but still, the weight loss was too slow to provide further encouragement.

On the old plan I was allowed 21 pts, but usually ate at least 24 pts each day, and used all my APs and 1/2 of weekly points. I had always lost 1-2 lbs per week.
Well the lightbulb lit up and I said screw PP. After a 3 day binge I returned to my old plan Monday and today I was down 1.3- almost 50% more than I lost on PP in 2 weeks.

My BMI is in the healthy range (22.5) and I think the program is designed to help those whose BMIs are in the unhealthy range.

PP would be good for maintanence- so many people lose a little, then gain it back in a week or so and are basically maintaining the same weight.. Eventually WW will come around but at this point they have invested millions.

I think almost 60% of Americans are overweight or obese. That is a huge market. But WW has another market- people who are technically at a healthy weight, but for reasons that are theirs alone, they want or need to lose a few lbs. to feel better or look better. Or petite women that can't lose on 29 points.

Thanks for this site.

Hi everyone. I'm new to Sparkpeople, so I hope I'm doing this right.

I joined WW and made Lifetime in 1998 on the first points program (can't remember what it was called). Back then there was a point range to eat w/in every day, you could bank points, and earn AP. (I always ate in the middle of my range and never used the banked points or AP).

I've been mostly at goal these last 12 years but last Fall sort of gave up and ate myself up 20 lbs. I lost a few lbs before going back to WW and have lost 7 on Points Plus. It has taken me 5 week. While this isn't bad, most of it came off the first week (when I was afraid to eat all of my DP). I've upped my AP to 6 a day and finally lost just over 1lb in a week. The weeks in between were all fractions of a pound losses. Plus, it seems like such a guessing game. When to count veggies and fruits & how many points can I really use?

Anyway, I'd love to know how you all are doing and what you all are doing. I really like being able to know that if I worked the plan I could really lose 1-2 lbs each week

Hi, I'm Anne. I'm new to Sparkpeople. I reached my goal in 2007 and have been following WW ever since. I was very frustrated with the old points plan. I was very glad when P+ came out. But I still like to get as much support and opinions as possible. Some days are still harder than others. Just this morning, I told my husband (who follows WW too) that I would like to eat everything under the sun today. I read a lot more than I post. I'm looking forward to walking along side this team.

Welcome, Amy!! :-)

Congrats on being Lifetime!! :-) We're in pretty much the same boat! I'm a lifer too and below my goal, but I still would like to shed those last few that creeped on with P+! Got about 9 to go and I'll be a happy camper.

There's an awesome group for anyone who is trying to get healthy before trying to have a little on on here called "Getting Fit Before Baby" - I think you'd like it! I love it there!! :-) I also love the "Baby Dust and Sticky Vibes" group.

Happy to have you and I hope you enjoy our awesome little (but quickly growing) group here!!

Hi everyone! I just joined this group -- really happy to have a support network since I went back to the Momentum plan. I am only 12 pounds above my goal weight (but you know those last ones are the toughest to get off!) and I am Lifetime...hoping this time is PERMANENT weight loss because I want to have a baby in a couple of years and need my blood pressure, etc. to be lower than it is right now. Excited to meet you all!

KRAVEN321 - Welcome to the group!!! We have a lot of great discussions going on and some really great people sharing awesome ideas. :-)

I think each of us has to really find a way to tailor the plan(s) to meet our needs - and each of us will be different. I'm currently utilizing the Spark tracker as well to see where my points are going calorie-wise. I figure, if I can calculate that, it might lead me to a better "tweaked" PP plan for me. :-)

I am a WW meeting member and have been struggling on the new plan. I tracked calories and the points on the new program and it is too much food. So I am now eating 25 points, only allowing myself 30 WP which i don't use and never use AP. I count my fruit, and limit to 2 or 3 servings per day. Hopefully this helps. I'm over 40 and have about 30 pounds to lose. I lost 25 pounds on the old program so it worked for me, and I wasn't hungry. I never ate a lot of junk food, and prefer smaller portions of the foods I enjoy, than being able to eat more of stuff I don't like.

Hi all,

Please introduce yourself in this thread and let us know a little about you. Are you a current WW follower? Maybe a Lifetimer?

What do you think of the new plan? What has worked? What doesn't?

Welcome and hopefully using this group we can provide support to one another so that we can each find what works best for us!
