Hi Danielle, greetings from New Zealand, where it's high summer! :-) Good luck with the training. At the age of 58 and 30kg overweight I have decided to train for a half-marathon in April - which will be my first race ever! I downloaded a workable training programme for HM newbies from Runner's World, and I'm half way through week 2 of the programme. On Sunday I ran-walked-ran-walked-ran 10km straight through, and felt pretty good. Yesterday I ran 3.2km straight through, and this morning I did 3 lots of 12minute runs with 2 minute walking breaks. Tomorrow is a nice easy half-hour walk. I'm really enjoying the programme, and I'm doing all my training at the moment on the treadmill.
I know you can do this - if I can, anyone can hahaha!

Hi my name is Danielle, I have been wanting to run a 1/2 for a long time now. I have run in 3 other races in the past 5 years. My first one was a 5k. I then did a 2mile race with my cousin and November 2009 I ran a the big Thanksgiving Day race. It was almost 5 miles. That was pretty big for me. I finished it beating my goal that I wanted to finish by. Health issues came and I couldn't run this year or do the 1/2 marathon. So I am back on and ready to do this. Can't wait to get the snow gone so I can get running outside. So the tredmill will have to do for now.I know I can do this. Even if I am not Skinny. So I will not use my weight as an excuse. I never did. But I do hope to lose the extra poundage I carry. It can only get me to my goal faster. I am so thankful for SP!
