DORY, maybe RUSSELL_39 can give you some input. I believe he has/had similar problems.

DORY914,
As a type 2 diabetic, on meds for 10 years, my blood sugar is under control by eating low carb. I did a little poking around on the Internet but didn't see a connection between Factor Five Leiden and carbs, too bad.

Don't worry about the veggies so much, a traditional Eskimo diet is high in protein and fat, low on carbs, and there are very few veggies or fruit in the arctic. Nonetheless I don't think Eskimos get much scurvy from lack of vitamin C.

Protein up, carbs down. Have you got some whey protein powder? Various flavours, available at COSTCO and lots of other places.

LIVINMYDREAMS,
Perhaps you are already low carb, but eating high carb and low protein does seem to be connected with inflammation. Of course inflammation cab lead you to taking pain medication.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome! I am on blood thinners for the rest of my life. I have Factor Five Leiden. Its definitely been hard trying to eat healthy while watching my vitamin k intake. When I was doing low carb last time my INR levels were way to low (my blood got to thick) it was like that the whole time I was eating low carb. Eating low carb was what gave me the best results. I'm gonna try it again, maybe worry more about protein and ease off the greens a little more I guess. Anyone have any suggestions?

emoticon Dory!

It can be sooo frustrating to try to do everything right and still be unable to lose any significant weight.

I have added treadmill 3 times a week and now at the suggestion of a friend, I am going to add some sort of strength training to see if that speeds things up for me.

Let us know if you need support or tips.

Someone said recently that pain meds caused them to retain water. I take an arthritis med twice a day and tyelenol. Plus some others. I may see what's up with all of my meds.

I wonder if many of our meds are battling our weight loss. But the ones I am on I have been on all along while I lost the weight that I did. Still trying to figure out what is holding me back from losing right now.

Hello, I joined this team awhile back but have never posted here before. I have put a lot of weight on in the last few years due to some health problems I was having. Now it seems like I can't get the scales to move down. I get a few pounds off only to have them come right back on again. I have done low carb in the past and had some success with it so I'm hoping it will help me again.
