Hi Michael, I started eating low carb about 15 months ago to loose body fat. I've battled my weight most of my life. This battle was unlike any other because in short order I found that if I ate low carb then I didn't need my diabetes meds, and I had been taking them for 10 years.
So this is no temporary diet for me, it is a way of life.

You're right - LC is the way to go. It's a lifestyle you can adopt for life - and have all sorts of yummy "extras" that the "average dieter" (whatever that is!) just can't believe you can have. Sauces. Bacon - mmmmm
In our house, we combine low/restricted carb with primal (just eat real food!), and it's a great way to live. Hope to see you here often! Keep us posted with your progress!

Hi everyone. I'm Mike. It's very nice to meet you all. I've gone up and down on the weight loss yo-yo more than a few times in the past, and this time I intend to get the weight off and keep it off. I have used a low carb diet previously to lose about 50 pounds (13 years ago), but those pounds came creeping back with a vengeance over time and brought friends with them. Now I find myself starting over again.
I'm about a week into this and I'm very happy to have found this group. Low carb is the only way for me to go. Low fat with miniature portions makes me waaay too cranky and doesn't work nearly as well for me.
