Welcome Ann. You will def find a lot of support here and I know you can do it. If I can, anyone can. I was super addicted to sweets and I haven't had any sugar since May 21st.

Welcome to the team! emoticon

So, maybe a place like Walmart or Target or a regular food chain store? Maybe what I'll do is Google it and see if it will bring up some places to look for it. Sounds like a plan!! lol Tks!

I am thinking of a store that carries groceries for the most part, not processed nutrional supplements when I say health food store. Maybe a different use of words.

I thought GNC was a health food store! No? If not, are you talking about places like Whole Foods or organic shops?

Any health food store will carry it, probably at a better price. Not sure if GNC has it. They are weak in the herbal department usually.
Online will be the best choices.

Milkthistle supports liver function, very powerful, you can get is in capsule forum, also dandelion greens (either as supplement or stir-fry as greens if you can find some that have not been sprayed).

Do you take anything for the liver?

The liver usually needs help in those cases where people are also gluten-intolerant (at least 1/3 of the population).

Well, I'm a bit of a salt-a-aholic, Birgit, lol So I'm quite sure I get enough sodium coming in. So maybe I don't need the Potassium. I also wondered whether or not to take anything to help out the liver. I'm reading "Living the Low Carb Life" and I'm learning a whole lot about it and the different low carb plans.

I would have to read up on it to be sure but think I remember that the body maintains a balance between sodium and potassium. If you don't get enough sodium and take a potassium supplement then your body will simply eliminate the potassium to maintain a balance between the two. This is why it matters to take in enough sodium.
But I'm not a chemist or nutrionist so if anyone can find a good resource on this I think it would help all of us. emoticon

Hmmmm...well, I did find out that if I drink lots of water, I don't get many leg cramps. I read that we shouldn't eat bananas, which are high in potassium. So I thought that maybe taking a Potassium supplement in addition to the water would be a good thing. BUT I don't want to over do it either. Tks.

I take potassium because I already needed it. Years ago I didn't on Atkins. I'd say its easier with a potassium supplement. :o)

Hi Ann - if you are eating enough fat, that should help with the cravings. Maybe it's just a habit that when you are stressed - you crave certain foods.

Hang in there, usually things get better after day 3 or 4.

It was hard for me too, but it soon passes. You'll need to figure out your personal amount of carbs- for me if I go too low I have carb flu, too high I don't lose weight. Its a life journey so there's lots of time to figure it out! emoticon

Welcome Ann,
glad you are back on the road to health! emoticon
The quick tip is to try to increase your sodium by quite a bit, maybe up to 2 grams/day and also drink a lot of water, because your kidneys dump salt on low-carb and potassium gets dumped with it to keep it balanced.
The long answer is to read this fairly new book which helps you to prevent all the common mistakes made on low-carb diets.

It will get easier very quickly. emoticon
Also take it easy on the exercise for the first week. Stay with walking and only light strength training.

I started a new job in Jan. and since then have just sat on my butt, gaining weight and eating carbs! I know I can do LowCarb because I have before but this time around I am really struggling with the headaches and cravings.... I need to do it and NOW because my weight is at it's all time high and I have to stop ignoring it. So today I start again and this time I will be successful!
