It is so true. You feel like you have it all figured out and WHAM, you don't. LOL! I am trying to follow South Beach and am on my second week of phase 1. Next week I start the "1.5" phase where you slowly add one item into your diet daily. It is suggested you incorporate the same one thing daily for a few days and see what type of reaction you may have, be it weight gain, cravings and what not. That alone blew my mind. Looks like I got my work cut out for me.

emoticon I don't know how I missed this thread!
I have low carbed off and on for years. I quit because I was too strict with myself. Now that I have type2 and carbs are not good, I am taking it easy about being strict and doing much better! It is a life choice, not a diet.

Hi and welcome!

It's a funny thing. I'm going on two years on low carb and I'm STILL learning new things all the time. How can something that you do every single day be so mysterious?!?!?

Sometimes I'm amazed that I didn't figure all this stuff out over all the years, but some of it is counter-intuitive, and most of it goes against the current food culture, so I guess it's no surprise.

welcome Jenn. I have not been here long myself but I really like this team.

This is the link to the Atkins website. even tho I dont fully do it the atkins way anymore I do still eat from the atkins food list/eat. I just count carbs different than they do.
