It is so true. You feel like you have it all figured out and WHAM, you don't. LOL! I am trying to follow South Beach and am on my second week of phase 1. Next week I start the "1.5" phase where you slowly add one item into your diet daily. It is suggested you incorporate the same one thing daily for a few days and see what type of reaction you may have, be it weight gain, cravings and what not. That alone blew my mind. Looks like I got my work cut out for me.
I don't know how I missed this thread! I have low carbed off and on for years. I quit because I was too strict with myself. Now that I have type2 and carbs are not good, I am taking it easy about being strict and doing much better! It is a life choice, not a diet.

Welcome Jenn, Like Woubbie I've been at this a while. It takes time to get all the damage thinking, eating, and belief you have been taught in right boxes. It is so worth it. Stay here and you will learn all kinds of things that will help you in this walk.
It's a funny thing. I'm going on two years on low carb and I'm STILL learning new things all the time. How can something that you do every single day be so mysterious?!?!?
Sometimes I'm amazed that I didn't figure all this stuff out over all the years, but some of it is counter-intuitive, and most of it goes against the current food culture, so I guess it's no surprise.
The great enemy of truth is very often not the lie--deliberate, contrived and dishonest--but the myth--persistent, persuasive and unrealistic. Too often we hold fast to the cliches of our forebears. We subject all facts to a prefabricated set of interpretations. We enjoy the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.

Hi team! I thought it time I introduce myself and say Hello. I'm Jenn and have been low carbing on and off for a few years now but I started back with it because I always feel better when I am on it and of course I see results.
