Hi FUTUREFITMAMA35, I'm eating low carb, not any particular plan, I'm just reading the labels and avoiding sugars and carbs. I get low carb ideas from across the various low carb diets, like Paleo, etc. I've found a variety of things that I like and the things I like have changed since I started this 11 months ago.
I'm a type 2 diabetic, I'm not sure if that was caused by excess fat, or amplified by it, but I've been free of my diabetes medication since week 1 of eating low carb. I'm convinced it is a healthier way to eat. Once a carb addiction is broken (about 2 weeks) you feel great.
You'll find that people on this team are on a wide range of different plans and come up with their own variations as well. Atkins is pretty much the gold standard of low carb and a lot of us will use the induction rules to get over a plateau or get re-motivated, but a lot of people are more into Paleo/Primal eating, which is less about low carb per se and more about ancestral foods and whole foods.
So if Scarsdale works for you, then work it! If you need a change, you're bound to find someone here with other ideas for you to try.

Hi I am Mskris7, I have done every diet out there thru the years. I have been a member of Sparks for a few years. When I was on the internet a couple of days ago I came across an article about the Scarsdale Diet which was big back in the 70's. It is easier to follow than the Atkins for me any way and I have already lost 6lbs, so think I will stick with it for awhile. It is low fat and carb so I joined all the teams which most of you are Atkins but I hope you accept me. Have a great day

Thanks everybody for the warm welcome! We are thinking of having a 4th. But if and when we do I am definitely staying low carb. I just used pregnancy as an excuse to eat the first pregnancy. I gained 70lbs the first, 35 with the second, and only 20lbs this last time. I would lose some weight prior to falling pregnant again but this is the only time I took all the weight off that I put on. I'm determined to become healthy again. I have one boy and two little girls that I need to be around for!!
Bless your heart Amanda! I saw last night a woman said that losing our figure was a small price to pay for our children! :o) But of course our health is important! I had a tough time getting pregnant too- I have PCOS. So happy you are here!!
I'm new here but not to low carb. I had lost 100 lbs 7 years ago. I was able to keep it off for two years. I then became a mom to 3 kiddos and the pregnancies + 5 miscarriages I managed to pack on 100 + lbs. I am 4 months post baby and back on atkins. When I went in to deliver my baby I weighed 294. When I left I weighed 294. (I had a csection and tons of fluid). I easily went down to 277. I started trying to lose weight with weight watchers in march. And I lost 10 lbs but was fighting the cravings. I switched to atkins last Monday and have lost 12 more lbs. I feel so much better. I feel full and not craving sugar!
