Welcome SUZGLEADALL,

low carb is now my way of life, not just a temporary diet. As I think NOWYOUDIDIT was saying, I also have type 2 diabetes and was on the maximum dose of metformin pills for it, injections were next.

When I switched to low carb the blood sugar changes were almost instant, in just a few days I kicked those meds with my doctors approval. I've been off them for 10 months now. I'm convinced that low carb is a healthier and more natural way to eat for a number of reasons.

Welcome!
I am on a low carb diet that is based on Atkins and common sense. I have done every diet also. But after years of failing and now with Type 2 realize carbs are my demise. At my age doing extremes isn't possible anymore! emoticon
So I probably lose slower than I'd like, but health is more important than getting into an outfit! LOL!

Welcome, MsKris! As Woubbie said, we are all on slightly different plans. I did Scarsdale eons ago, in the 70s, I think. Don't remember how I did. I still have the book and use some of the recipes.

Just jump right in. We accept anyone on any plan. We just ask that everyone be respectful of everyone else's plans, though that hasn't been a problem here. (Though we have been known to be just a tad disrespectful of Conventional Wisdom and the SAD Standard American Diet!)

Hi and welcome! Consider yourself accepted!

I think the majority of the active members of this team use Atkins as a reference point and a go-to when they need to regroup, but follow a wide variety of protocols otherwise.

I've never actually adopted a formal plan myself, because I instinctively know that I wouldn't follow any of them to the letter, lol! I'm very slowly trending to Paleo/Primal, but still have a lot of dairy and can't budget for high quality goods just yet.

Hi I am Mskris7,
I have done every diet out there thru the years. I have been a member of Sparks for a few years. When I was on the internet a couple of days ago I came across an article about the Scarsdale Diet which was big back in the 70's. It is easier to follow than the Atkins for me any way and I have already lost 6lbs, so think I will stick with it for awhile. It is low fat and carb so I joined all the teams which most of you are Atkins but I hope you accept me.
Have a great day

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone! Yeah, I don't know why I ever quit either... You're right Woubbie about it not being a diet so much as a way of life. I think this way of eating is one I can live with and enjoy without any difficulty.Once I get down to the weight I want I don't think I'll be eating quite so low carb, but I do plan on more Paleo, no gluten, grains, sugar, minimal dairy, which ends up being lower carb when you're left with protein and vegetables.

The team name says it all - Living Low Carb. Not much "diet" mentality here, but lots of folks learning to change their lives for the better and for the long haul.

Way to go, Suz! And welcome! We have a few other folks from Canada on this team, and some from the British Isles, too. And lots of people who have done really well and then gained some or all of it back, and lots who have done really well and kept it off. Lots of variety here, and lots of support.

Hi everyone,
My name is Suzanne.I'm from Alberta, Canada. I'm new to the group but not to low carb.I've done it in the past and have done really well on it but for one reason or another never stuck to it.I am determined this time to actually stick to it! I'm looking forward to sharing in this group and am hoping we can all help each other out. Yesterday was day 1 of induction for me and I am down 4 lbs!Woo hoo!
