When I go to the gym I watch Netflix on my phone! Makes that time on the elipptical go by sooooo much faster!!!

Happy Saturday to All emoticon It's kind of gloomy in the NW today, suppose to be storming later on, but right now it's just cold, but still okay (for the NW).

Anyways, I luv the reward idea & I will incorporate it into my plan. I also decided to get my butt on the treadmill (low speed) while watching my recorded soap (Y&R) after work...this way, I'm not sitting on the couch, get to watch Victor (grrr) & take my first steps of getting back into a better, more active lifestyle emoticon & do all of it at the same time..pretty awesome, huh? emoticon

Thanks for the great motivational idea & emoticon on board!

One doesn't have to be GREAT to start, but one has to START to be great!

Thanks, and happy Saturday to you, too! Today is a reward day, so I am munching a plum, lol. I think Dr. Atkins would be ok with it. *grin* It's interesting to me that, now that we're a bit into it, I don't really crave things like bagels/pasta on reward days. I do still crave fruit and some veggies that I can't otherwise have, though, so I think it is a success on that level, among others. It makes me want to eat healthily even when I could do otherwise.

Welcome, Anasari! I lived in Eureka, California for several years - right on the coast (I could see the masts on the fishing boats from my office window), about 90 miles south of the Oregon border.

I'm glad your reward system is working for you. But, as someone said, there will come a time when you will do everything right and the weight won't come off. It happens to all of us, and we all tell everyone else not to worry about it and we all hate it when it happens to us! So be prepared for that and be thinking of a way to reward yourself for doing it all right even if the scale doesn't move.

I agree with Faith that your reward system is a good positive way to get started. The real challenge is finding rewards at every stage along the way - and there will be many, many stages!

Half of what we know is wrong. The purpose of science is to discover which half.

That reward system will work for now while you are losing well. There may come a time where things slow down. So don't get discouraged if that happens. Also there are definately ways to eat out and stay on plan. Lots of ways. Just saying... but glad all is going so well for you both.

Hello, all! I am new to the forums, but a long-time Atkins user. The problem is, it's been intermittent over the past 3 years -- which everyone knows won't work!

My husband and I have recently renewed our commitment to this lifestyle, as well as incorporating more activity in our lives. One of the things that's been a downfall for us, in the past, has been dining out. Because that was sabotaging us, we've now come up with a rewards system where we can't dine out except for one Saturday every 2 weeks (the one that falls right after payday); in order to win the right to dine out that day, we have to have each lost at least 3 lbs. in the preceding two weeks.

I tell you, that is the best thing that ever happened for our weight loss program and low-carb lifestyle -- it is working like a charm! This is the best success we've ever had, and we're both highly motivated to get that dining out treat every two weeks... plus neither of us wants to fail, because we have to watch the other person get to eat what he/she wants, while the loser would still have to stick to the plan, lol. Neither of us has cheated at all, since we began doing things this way, and it is really making a huge difference: 20 lbs. lost for him last month (our first month doing it), and 12 lbs. lost, for me. Go, team!

I am looking forward to being an active part of this group and helping keep each other motivated. Nice to meet you all!
