I'd recommend reading "Why We Get Fat and What We Can Do About It". I'm half way through- it's changing my whole perspective.

Brenna, I would recommend doing a lot more reading. Start with one of the Atkins books so you understand the science about eating low-carb. Cutting down carbs a little bit may help a little bit. In that case I would recommend against eating much fat because lots of carbs and lots of fat are very dangerous.

well I am not anywhere NEAR to 30 grams of carbs. i am still trying to kick the "white" habit. baby steps for me.

since I'm still higher on the carbs, do I still need extra fat if I'm only decreasing my carbs by a tiny bit?

It is the only way/weigh :). Do some reading like Gary Taubes, Why we get fat and what to do about it and some of the other books mentioned around this team. Look at the truly Low Carb blogs, etc. Read the threads here. And then do it and you will see for yourself.

It's counter-intuitive, but yes. It helps you feel satiated when going on a low carb diet, especially when you dip below 30 g of carbs/day.

Welcome, Brenna! Make sure you try to consume as many healthy fats as you can (olive oil, avocados, etc). It'll give you the energy and fullness you crave.

Best of luck!

There's no one size fits all on this team when it comes to carbs. We range from zero carb (literally!) to lots. Try starting by cutting out the white stuff - sugar, flour and potatoes. That's a good starting place. And Welcome!

I have done extremely low. Arb before ~ it's not sustainable for me but I am looking to gradually decrease my carbs for health and better weight.

Thanx
