Hello everybody, I joined the group last week but have just finally found a moment to get on here and say hello. Before now I was busy being nosy to threads and blogs :) I plan to be an active member on here and will start blogging soon. I love to talk so that shouldn't be an issue. I'm trying to get healthy first then focus on losing weight, I figure it's all the same so maybe both will happen while I'm only focusing on the health because that's less annoying and less frustrating than watching the pounds not move :) I have three kids, one with Aspergers so I'm always on my toes or sleep deprived. I also have a perfectionist and a little princess who thinks she's an only child. My Husband works a lot so I tend to spend most days frustrated. I'm hoping to find an outlet to all that frustration here by joining in on conversations and realizing I'm not alone in this crazy battle for health and well being.

Evening pirate hookers! I have posted a blog that was so funny in my mind I had to share. Right now, and I mean at this moment, carbs have control. I will get over this and I am doing better just by writing. Read my song!

OMG I'm so happy to have found you!!! I've been on SP for a while but stopped for a bit when I found out I was pregnant. Mostly because I can't have a serious discussion about weight loss and/or healthy eating when the only thing I could keep down was ramen so that's all I all I ate for the entire first trimester and change. I justify it by all 3 peas they put in each cup of noodles. My kid hasn't even come yet but I was surfing Rants from Mommyland and found they have a spark team and just could not WAIT to sign up. Plus what with pregnancy brain and future lack of sleep brain I might never remember you exist if I didn't do it now. emoticon

See you guys again in about 2 months!

Hello, ladies! I joined awhile back and have done exactly nothing else on the team page since.

I'm Sara, 35-year-old mom to two boys in the Philly metro area. DS1 turns 7yrs next week, and DS2 is 4.5yrs old. I don't need to lose weight exactly, but I sure would like to have it distributed more appropriately. ;) I still have some baby gut and butt, and my baby isn't a baby anymore! So I will be focusing on eating healthier meals and snacks and working out regularly, even if it's 20mins challenging my boys to Just Dance 3 or a 1mi walk with my lazy dogs.

I guess my unit of measure will be measuring my waist, so I will do that tonight and post later. Also, I think I'll notice when my pants fit better around the rear, though that's more of a subjective "measurement." LOL.

First mini-goal is to not feel like a slob in my swimsuit on family swim night at the end of the Feb/March round of my boys' swim lessons. Nothing like having a bunch of teenaged swim team members around you to make you feel like you've really let yourself go!

Here's to a healthier you and me in 2012!

Hi all! I am a mom to 2 girls under 3, the baby is 6 weeks old and I am looking to get rid of the baby weight and be a healthy role model for them. Also if I work out I can get out of the house and leave them with daddy for a hour... glad to be on the message board!

Hi all, brand spanking new here but I figured it was time to get off my ever widening arse and get into shape (a shape other than rotund). I am relatively new to RFML-a friend introduced me and I'm completely obsessed-I so wished I lived closer so I could be Kate and Lydia's BFF...and yes in a total stalker type way. I really thought I was one of the last people out there who "got it"...but it seems there is an entire community of people who do and I'm so excited to be a part of it.

I am a late 30 something Mom of two little girls (2 and 4), I work from home full time, my husband is currently a SAHD....that is a lot of freaking time together. I. Am. Never. Alone. Ever. We left the hectic NYC/Northern NJ life about 6 months ago for my home state of Wisconsin, it's been a big adjustment but life is good. Now I just really really really need to get a handle on my self.

I don't have baby weight to lose, due to complications with both pregnancies, some of the thinnest times of my adult life were directly after giving birth. Unfortunately my bank account and sanity cannot afford to diet by pregnancy anymore so I have to find something else. I'd love to find someone one in my area who would want to be a workout/kick my lazy ass buddy. If there is anyone in the Fox Valley area of WI please feel free to msg me!

Looking forward to seeing the hot snitch I have always thought was trapped in here!

Hello snitches! I just happened to stumble upon this team when I read one of Julie's blogs. How do you see a blog titled "F*cking Suckerpunched" and NOT be inclined to read it? I'm so very glad I did. This looks like just the team I've been needing. I LOVE LOVE LOVE my local SP team, but even those teammates tend to be a little stuffy and boring at times. I see NONE of that here! Looking forward to getting to know you all

BTW, I'm Danielle. I live in SE Washington (State, not D.C.) 2 kids, a husband, a cat, a guinea pig, and a fish (at least I think I have a fish...she was looking a little less-than-lively when I left for work this morning...). AND...I'm on the clock, so I'd better explore this team a little more later!

Hi there! I'm looking forward to this 100 Days to Summer and had no idea until I read the RFML post this morning while at work. I live in Richmond, Virginia and work full-time and am also a full-time mom to 2 boys, ages 2 and 4. They are a handful and keep me busy but I need to find time for me too, which is a challenge in and of itself. I'm still trying to navigate this site but I will.NOT let it defeat me. emoticon

Hello from Wisconsin, where swimsuit season is 3 days in late July. The rest of the time it's either snowing or the swarms of mosquitoes devour any exposed skin so you wear your snowpants anyway.

I've got two girls, ages 6 & 3, and about 50 lbs to lose.

Hello from Texas, where bikini season starts WAY. TOO. EARLY. :) I am excited to kick start [my butt] this program, and I hope to join the cardio/warrior programs.

I still haven't received the email confirm from Spark, so I can't message the team leaders to join yet. Am I missing a step or something? Where do we find the contacts to send our email address to?

Thanks for the support tho!

Oh, Chell.... that sounds horrible. I have no idea how to contend with that. The only thing I can think of is reward him when he goes to the bathroom correctly and maybe that will help? Also, and I know this is taboo and I'm opening myself up to get lambasted ... but we're a spanking family. I know it doesn't work for everyone, but my children know that I will spank them when their behavior goes too extreme. So, 99% of the time, they stop their doofiness before it gets that far. Maybe some of the other mommies will have some other advice ... Either way, glad to have you on board!!!

Hi guys!

Long time lurker to RFM .. recent first time poster (yeah it takes a contest, I'm that girl) .. long time admirer of you guys' writing. This idea of Spark appealed to me, and here I am.

Here's my rant.

I am sick to death of my kid painting poop on his walls. Every day. I've tried the making him clean it up, I've tried disappointment. I've tried silent treatment, and time outs, I've tried potty training, I've even tried the cold shower. Today was the second cold shower. It's like he gets off on doing this poop. I've recently read to get the kid some clay to play with... ugh. I may try it. I know sometimes this is common with kids, boys esp? He's 3.5. He is slowly but surely driving me up the wall. The carpets in his room need to be replaced, the whole place painted... and the smell. Jesus H. Christ. Does it ever really go away. I read the other day about lavender. Going to try that out. But God, I am embarrassed for other kids to come over and play.

He's a ninja pooper too. He can poop in like 2.5 seconds. And throw a turd on the roof and somehow make it stick forever. I had to get a chair to stand on, to get the last one off.

This has been going on for 6 months. It's not an attention thing. He does it on purpose. Then plays the I'm cute card on me. 'I am so sorry, I know it's disgusting!'

He knows.

I feel better. But not really. I know it's going to happen again. And I am tired of the smell of bleach. But at least it's out.

Super excited to get to know the rest of you! Good luck everyone with their goals.

♥Chell

YCAMOMMY - Thanks for the warm welcome! I have a reputation for shoes and I figured that since it was RFM that got me on this site, then a shoe pic would be excellent for the profile. Those are my happy shoes - and not much can go wrong when I'm wearing them because I just look down at the fabulousness and the world seems right again.

I've been reading RFM for quite a while and have been impressed by the SP stories I hear. It sounds like a great support system. I've thought about joining but as an independent & introverted soul, community forums are not my thing. The past few days, however, I've been eating nearly anything I've set my eyes on. I'm out of control and need help! So - against my nature - I've decided to join the RFM SP team. Yikes! I even made one of my goals to post something daily. I think the open & honest sharing might even be harder than walking away from the chocolate.

I have the same fight about taking out the trash with my 11-yo every murtherfurkin day. *sigh* What is it with them?!?!? I don't forget to go to work, plan for schooling, cook, change diapers, do my church research, and the gazillion other things I do every single day. TAKE OUT THE FLIPPING TRASH!!!

I need to rant, but not where anyone I see every day will read it, so here it is.
TO my dear husband: I am NOT taking the murtherfurkin composting across the street to the composter. You said you would take it tomorrow. That was Friday. You left it in a plastic bowl on the counter where it still sits. I'm sure it stinks and I am not opening it to check. And every time you say you'll take it I end up taking it, but at least I keep it in the fridge so that if I forget, it won't rot. And now it's Tuesday night and your 5 day weekend is over and you have to work tomorrow, so I don't know when you are going to take it, but take it you will because I am NOT! And by the way, when you said again on Saturday that you would take it "tomorrow" and I muttered "yeah, right" under my breath and then wouldn't tell you what I said because I feel no need to incriminate myself, you didn't speak to me for half an hour, but I WAS RIGHT. You didn't take it. And I don't care if our kitchen smells like a garbage dump. I'm not doing it.

Thanks. I feel better now. I have been wanting to complain to someone about this and the post about 5 questions to ask my husband reminded me that I had a great place to do it. :) I will update if he takes it or if it grows legs and takes itself...

UPDATE: Ok, well, sometime between the last time I went in the kitchen and when I made that post...um....hetookit...so...nevermind.

Here is my rant I made to some of my friends on Facebook a few days ago,. Thought you might get a kick out of it:
Dear Monday,
I have always tried to avoid the whole "Monday sucks" thing. But today, I am afraid that it is a battle I can no longer fight. Monday, YOU SUCK! I mean, you really suck. Like, I could use you to replace my vacuum cleaner. I will now go into great detail as to what exactly has turned you into a major jack-hole.

1. I got up this morning and my coffee was not made. Even though I had set it up perfectly last night. Don't know what the problem was. Therefore, I am blaming it on you.

2. I FINALLY got to go to the gym on my side of town today and weigh myself on the same scale I weighed myself on when I started working out on January 5. I did take one week off, due to unforeseen circumstances (Thanks, Larry! And yes, it is all about me!) However, I have been extremely diligent except for those 7 days. Imagine my surprise when I stepped on the scale and I lost ... THREE POUNDS?!?! Whuck? Are you serious? I've been killing myself for three stinking pounds? And yes, I know muscle weighs more than fat, and that I should be counting inches and not pounds. I. Don't. Care. I want to lose some pounds!

3. I come home to get on my computer that I just got back (for the second time) from the computer hospital, and it is frozen. Won't do crap. I call the tech people, and they are just sooooo helpful. (Can you smell the sarcasm?) Two hours and three phone calls later, I am informed that I must completely clear my computer and reset it to factory settings. Great! So I have to get the nice lady I paid $200 to last month to reload my scopist software. And I have to reload Word Perfect so that I can transcribe my depos. And I have to get another code from Real Legal so that I can turn those depos in. I also have to convince Norton that, even though I paid for virus protection on 3 computers and it has already been downloaded 4 times thanks to buying a new laptop and a new desktop (meaning this piece of crap), won't they please, please, please download it AGAIN on this computer without charging me another $100? Please? Because my five month old desktop is a piece of crap! And just for giggles and grins, I had to reload Itunes. All of the music that Brooke bought and put on her Ipod shuffle she got for Xmas is now gone. Wonder how much luck I'll have getting that back without having to pay for it again. (While I know this isn't technically your fault, Monday, it did happen on your watch. So suck it up and handle it!)

4. As I'm dealing with resetting my computer, I also have to cook dinner. Because, you know, I have a uterus and therefore feeding everyone is my job. Even though I don't eat. Because I am trying to lose weight. Because Winnie the Pooh and I are starting to look eerily similar. But I digress. I put the water/milk on to make the instant mashed potatoes (Don't judge me!) and realize that Kent used the last of the box last week. And didn't tell me. Naturally. So I get to go to the store and buy some. "While you're out, would you mind getting me some root beer to take to work with me? Thanks." Really? Yes, I mind. Because I want to finish fixing my computer. But does it matter? No. Why? Because I have a uterus; therefore, it's my job!

5. I finish making dinner. I then allow myself to eat a very small hamburger steak with one spoon of mashed potatoes and limited gravy. Nothing like being teased and taunted by the dinner plate! Now my son is informing me, "I want chicken nuggets." Well then, I suggest you go get a job, buy a car, get a license, and drive your butt to McDonald's. Because in this house, that just ain't on the menu!!!!!

6. As I am typing this, I am realizing that today is actually Tuesday. CRAP!!! I need to start drinking. Seriously!

Love,
Lesley

**waves** HI! I'm far from new to SP, but got seriously sidetracked over the holidays. It's been rough, because I put on some weight (damn Pomegranate 7up! It's addictive! And 100 cal per glass!!! I go through a 2 liter every couple days, I'm so bad! Back to my coffee!!!)

I'm here for a colossal kick in the arse to get myself motivated and MOVING again! W00T! I know I can do this. I just need a bit of support here. I'm so lazy!

This thread is for ranting right? Well... I'm hungry! Waahhhh! I painted my nails so I couldn't grab food without messing them up, drank a glass of water, and when my nails are dry I'm going to bed a little early... but I'm not happy about it : ( emoticon

Thanks for the help! I played with my page and made it pretty and added the ticker. Now I just need to log in my weight (Sunday) with a loss, so it will look better...

@White-go to your spark page and edit it. At the bottom of the edit screen you'll see the option to add a weight loss ticker to your page. When you do that it will also add it to your signature.

Hi! I am wondering how the sliding scale of weight loss gets onto your comments. I have only logged my weight in once, so I don't have a loss.....YET.... Will it just appear once I do?

What a response tonight! We are so glad to have all of you here! A couple of tips for getting started:

emoticon Don't get too overwhelmed! Spark can seem very confusing, and it takes a little while to get used to all of the bells and whistles. There is no time crunch to learn how to use it, don't let it frustrate you. Take the tours they offer on here, and just be patient.

emoticon Do get involved! Spark is all about community. We achieve success by leaning on each other. Also, you can learn some amazing things about yourself when you take a few minutes every day to encourage or support someone else.

emoticon Don't try to rebuild Rome in a single day! It probably took you some time and effort to get to the place where you want change - it is going to take time and effort to get you to where you want to be! Take a moment to think about what is going to really work best for you - listen to others, ask lots of questions. You will find the path you are looking for!

emoticon Do have fun! Laughter burns calories!

We are excited that you are here! Please feel free to ask us anything at anytime, whether on the board or by private message. Here's to a new you, and a new outlook on life!!
