Hello all, just thought I'd toss this out and see who was still out there. I just joined SparkPeople this past week and am trying to search out all the nooks and crannies. I am a 48 year old nurse living in Northern California, and am trying to lose 50lbs by 12/2012. My husband and I and our two Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers are just starting out in the agility world, we hope to be competing within a year. Getting started has been a boon to my exercise habits, I am doing things in my life rather than trying to drag my self to a gym. Look forward to hearing back from you.
I've tried several times to get this group active again...I do get notices when new folks join but thus far, it's fizzled out....
Glad to have you on board! I, myself, have not run my young dog, Cannon, in two years, opting for ballroom dancing instead but OH, I miss it SO much! I may need to just get back out there because all I've been thinking about it dog agility lately.
Good luck with your Golden Boy! :D

Oh, I do hope that this team is still active! I, myself, am not a dog handler...I just happen to be married to one and, therefore, spend most of my life at one trial or another throughout New England. I can usually be found behind a score table or volunteering somewhere else around the ring. We primarily show USDAA (my husband is now a starters/advanced judge), but we are possibly heading back into AKC with our newest pup, a golden retriever.
Our oldest boy is Otto, an 8-year-old black lab. He is still running strong, although slowing down a bit. Mulligan is our 5-year-old black lab who had to retire last year as he was diagnosed with arthritis in his lower back. It was really too bad as he was just starting to get his brain a little bit. Our pup is Striker, a 5-month-old golden retriever. We are very excited as he is showing great promise in training. He is really a "golden boy"!
As I said, I do hope that this group is still active! It would be fun to hear other people's agility stories. Good luck to all on their fitness goals!
Hey all, I'm not new, but I've been away for quite a while due to the birth of my second daughter :) So it's time to get back in the saddle and take off this baby weight!
I'm also an agility addict with 2 dogs and also from the Great White North :) My superstar is a 7 year old BichonX, and my "baby dog" is a 6 year old NSDTR. Here's to running faster, cleaner, and lighter this agility season!
Welcome to the group, Deb! Sounds like you are a glutton for punishment! Wow! Showing 3 border collies! I just recently started showing 2 Cardigan Welsh Corgis and am discovering how hard it is to wrap my head around the difficulties in running 2 different dogs. I always thought they ran a lot alike until I started trialing with them in the same class, same jump height! Once again, welcome to the group and hope to hear from you again! Nancy
Life should not be a journey to your grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming "WOW! What a Ride!"

I have been an Agility enthusiast for close to 20 years....where has the time gone. My intro to agility came by as the result of purchasing Border Collie "one of those", and quickly discovered that Shela needed a job.
I currently have 4 Border Collies and train/trial with 3 of them. Cuith(10), Teddi(5) and Tapas(2). Yogi(13) is retired. Please visit my home page.
Sorry don't think this is in the right place...don't know how to correct.
