Hope everyone is doing good. With the end of school fast approaching - graduation June 9, last day for everyone June 16, it has been busy. The weather has finally turned nice. The bad thing is I've been stuck inside waiting on repairmen.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

My son mainly does the long distance events - 1500 and 3000 but also does 800 meters, 4 x800 relay and the 4 x 400 relay. I've very proud of him plus I'm happy that he is so into exercise and good health. It is good when you start taking care of yourself at a young age. Medical test went well, everything is within normal ranges. There is no change with my heart so that is a good thing. Enjoy your anniversary this weekend. Ours is the same day our daughter graduates from high school, it will also be the first one my dh has been home for in 3 years.

I posted my thoughts on the teams uniting and your ideas.

Have a great day!

Good Morning Team!

Hi Renee:

What events does your son do? That is really great, you should be very proud that he came in first place! What a long day for you. Glad that you had a happy Easter! I hope that you get positive results for your medical testing.

Well this Monday morning I am extremely tired but still motivated to get stuff done this week. Once again my weekend was filled with dealing with family stuff, it's getting better but it's still...stuff. Anyhow, this weekend coming up is DH & my anniversary. Not sure that I am doing anything for that but perhaps a special dinner or something like that is in order.

I posted a topic regarding our teams uniting as of May when we start the next period of this challenge. I emailed the team leader but she hasn't gotten back to me. Soooooo, I think this week in preparation for May I am going to post some ideas as to challenges that we can all take on for this month. Please let me know what you think!

Lab work always makes me extra hungry. I'm sure it is all mental, because I'm told I can't eat, I want to eat everything. Spring break was good. Saturday was spent at the high school track. The track team had their last home meet of the season - they only have 2 home meets. They travel for the rest to northern Italy. My son did well, he came in 1st in both his events and qualified for Europeans in both. I was out there from 930 until 3. Although I put sunblock on, my face is sunburnt and my lower legs are below where my capris ended. My dh surprised my son by making it home in time for the first race. Had a good Easter. Today I go in to see the doctor for my test results. Not looking forward to that.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Hi Renee!

I'm sure that it is quite hectic with the kids out of school but at least you get to spend some quality time which is good. Hope everything went well at the lab that stinks about fasting, I think just because someone said that I couldn't eat I would be even hungrier.

Well I hope everything is having a great week!

Stopping in to say hi before I head to bed. The kids are on spring break and my schedule is a mess. Tomorrow I have to be at the hospital first thing for lab work. Normally, I wouldn't be hungry at night but tonight I'm starving and can't snack because I'm fasting. Going to take my breakfast and caffeine with me so I can eat as soon as I leave the lab and before I head out for my morning walk.

Hope everyone is having a great week!

Crys - way to go on getting up early. That is one of my goals is to get up at 5. I'm trying to get up 5 minutes earlier each week. Right now I'm getting up at 5:25 but unfortunately the baby hears me & she wants to get up too. Going to have to work on that little dilema! LOL!

So far I have done a great job at sticking w/ my goals. I have lost 2 lbs. so I'm pretty proud of that. Hopefully I can finish out the week strong. I always struggle w/ my goals at the end of the week.

How is everyone doing w/ their goals?

Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could; some blunders and absurdities have crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; you shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be

Hi There Everyone!

How is your week going? It's been rainy around here for the last few days which makes it difficult to jump start the week. Need some motivation to get more productive!

However, I did make good thus far on my weekly wellness goals that I posted. I measured all my Rold Gold pretzels so I know that I am not sneaking more than necessary. Also, I got my sorry rear end out of bed at 5AM this Monday morning to go swimming...woohoo, that is a big deal because not only do I hate swimming but I hate Mondays too!

Is it bad that I am already looking forward to the weekend? I need a rest after my last weekend, it was so hectic with my mom being in town. This weekend I am seriously looking forward to resting & catching up on some house cleaning, never thought that that would sound sooooo appealing!

How is everyone's April so far??

I can't believe it is the end of March already. This year is flying by, before I know it, it will be June and my daughter will be graduating from high school. March was busy and at times I was overwhelmed by it all. April is also going to be busy but I think I will do better this month. The weather will be better which helps because I can get outdoor time.

Thank you for posting a new challenge!

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good Morning Mommies!

I posted a lot of this on the Mommy March Madness Challenge so my apologies if this is redundant. Anyhow, are we all ready for April??!! With the new month means...a new challenge!! This month's challenge will be called...

April Accountability

Yup, by being on Spark & having goals & THEN following up on our progress will help us to achieve our weight loss/fitness goals!

You will see 3 new challenge threads on the forum...
April Accountability - Team MOM - Weekly Weigh ins
April Accountability - Team MOM - Measurements
April Accountability - Team MOM - Wellness Goals

Here is the explanation for each challenge

Weekly Weigh Ins
Pick a day - any day, if you like Friday (especially since that is officially the 1st of the month) go with that. Post your weigh ins on this thread. You only need to weigh in one time per week. If you lose some pounds hooray! Tell us how you did it! Were you watching your portions, did you run around a ton? We want to know. If you went up...why? No use posting the numbers if we don't understand how we arrived there or what we can do to change it. If we can try to post beginning numbers by early next week that would be great!

Measurements
I LOVE this one! Ever notice sometimes the scale doesn't move but you know that you're leaner because your clothes feel better? Well sometimes instead of focusing on the number on the scale which only give one view - I mean, muscle does weigh more than fat - why not look at the inches lost? Because we don't lose a dramatic amount of inches every single week this challenge is fairly simple & only requires participation 2 times this month. Get out the measuring tape & post your measurement as soon as possible (tomorrow or by Monday would be ideal). Then come 4/30/11 we will then take our measurements again to see *hopefully* great progress! This can be a great motivator besides a stinkin' number on a scale which cooperates sometimes but other times...not so much. The template for this challenge is posted on the challenge forum

10 Wellness Goals
Think hard about 10 continuous (either daily, weekly etc) goals that you want to accomplish during the month of April that will in the end support your weight loss efforts. Is it, exercise 30 minutes per day? Is it eat 4 freggies per day? Whatever it is, make it measureable. From there, we will all commit to checking in on this challenge thread at minimum 1 time per week. It is that accountability which will give us that competitive edge to get 'er done!

If you think that there is something else that should be included or changed with this challenge, definitely let me know! I definitely want to try to make this fun YET challenging but I KNOW that we are all super busy so I don't want to make too many challenges that will be overwhelming to keep up with!

See you all on the threads!

Seems like everyone has been busy, busy tending to mom duties! My oldest son started baseball this week after just finishing basketball. It seems it never ends with these sports which means many long hours at the ball field. PLUS, this year my 4 year old is starting soccer. He has his first practice tomorrow night & I have to say I am a bit excited but I cannot believe even my baby is growing up, crazy!

My weekend was ok - we had the 1 mth memorial for my sister's boyfriend so Saturday was spent mostly with my sister. Then Sunday I ran my 4th half marathon which went really well. This week seems a bit overwhelming already & it's only Tuesday! Taking it day by day!

Hope you ladies enjoy your week!

Hi ladies, I'm still around, just been really busy the last week. My husband had his alumni b-ball tourn. this past weekend so I spent Friday and Saturday there and on Sunday was trying to frantically clean the house and get everything ready for the week. I got in a good workout last night and now tonight I have Yoga which I'm super pumped about b/c I felt really tight this a.m. when I woke up. Tomorrow we have Kindergarten round-up for my little one. I can't believe it's time for that already. It seems like she was just born!

Anyway I hope everyone is having a great week!

How is everyone doing? I had a great weekend. Saturday I packed my lunch, snack and plenty of water to take to the track meet. Which meant not only did I know not spend money at the concession stand but also I didn't eat any junk food. Sunday was spent cleaning out the storeroom, didn't even have time to snack. Both Saturday night and Sunday night, I went out cold as soon as I hit the bed. Saturday I was in bed by 915 pm and slept until 10 am. Helped a lot.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Hi Stacy -

Completely understandable about having to take care of your family, hope everyone is starting to feel a bit better now! I wouldn't beat yourself up too much about March, at least it's now Spring time so hopefully we'll all get a little bit more motivation with the weather slowly warming up. Hey, all the more reason to make April even better...right!

Thank you for your prayers about my family's loss. My sister is hanging in there but taking it slow.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Hi ladies sorry I've been MIA again. We've been super busy at work preparing for jury trials and my little one is finally on antibiotics so I think that she's starting to get well. My goals for March aren't planning out very well just like in February. I think that I have been sick for at least half of the month! I swear we are the unhealthiest family right now.

Crysbrown - I am so sorry for your loss. How devestating for you and your sister. My thoughts and prayers will be with you guys.

I'll try to catch up with everyone else tomorrow. Hope everyone is well.

Good Morning, looking forward to a quiet weekend after a busy week. Track season started, drill season ended. Had meetings on both. A lot going on the next couple of months; track meets, fund raisers, military ball and other "fun" stuff. We have a one nice day this week, it has rained all week. Tomorrow is suppose to be nice, if it is I'm going for a nice long walk outside.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Good Morning Moms!

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Hi Sally:

I was a bit tired after that crazy Saturday workout although I wasn't all that hungry because I fueled ok for it. It is TOO much exercise & not something I would not recommend. I honestly just needed to get it done because I said I would & when I give myself these specific goals I try to meet them - even if it is ridiculous in retrospect LOL! But frankly doing all 3 like that doesn't equal quality training just quantity so that is why I wouldn't do that typically. I hope your weather around there warms up a bit for you so that you can start your 1/2 training.

I am looking forward to this week because this is the week of my 3rd half marathon hooray! Please everyone cross your fingers for NO RAIN! But with that being said my running will be minimal this week which means that I have to be extra careful with my eating. I did ok over the weekend but ate too many sweets yesterday. The scale was not kind this morning, up 4lbs, not that big of a deal since I tend to lose that over the week anyway but I hate that I'm not making any strides in the weight loss dept though...

Anyhow, this week also marks the mid-March point, curious how is everyone doing thus far? Also, if you are not where you would like you be, perhaps in the second half it would be a good idea to challenge ourselves & up the ante!

Are you absolutely starving and exhausted after all of that work Chrysbrown??? I can't imagine! That is alot of exercise! I have to start looking at training for the 1/2 marathon. I thought I might be well on my way but the weather says different this weekend. More snow, rain and wind! But next week looks nice so here's hoping!

It must be so hard for your sister, especially because she has a son! Although, I would imagine kids would force a person to keep going, esp when they may feel like they didn't want to.

I am slowly starting to pull things together and get myself back on track. Sparking definitely aims me in the right direction!

Hope you have a good weekend!

Good Morning!

Hi Sally - yes, it's been difficult, just trying to be there for my sister, she came over for dinner last night, but I think that she is staying strong especially for her son.

You'll get back into the swing of things I'm sure. You are still Sparking so you'll definitely get your momentum. I cannot believe you had a blizzard! That's crazy in New England we have terrible weather too but the calendar does say it will be Spring this month soooooo that seems terribly unfair to have a blizzard in Canada.

Well, today has been action packed...literally. I am trying to balance finishing my half marathon training with transitioning into tri training but it's been hard. This week I am challenged to do at least 2 bike workouts & 2 swim workouts in addition to running 5 days this week...whew! Anyhow I procrastinated & honestly life is just too busy right now. So as of today I still needed to get in 1 run, 2 swims & 2 bikes. Anyhow, the only solution was to do a tri during one day during the weekend since that is the only time it seems that I can steal some time! So, based on the fact that I didn't want my training to interfere with my day, I got up at 6AM went to the gym, did 1 hr run, 1 hr stationary bike then went to swim for 1 hr. I am exhausted! Feels good to get it over with but definitely not something I would recommend on a regular basis.

So ladies, have a great weekend!

I wonder if you aren't right Chrysbrown. Funny you haven't heard anything after sending her a message.
How are you doing by the way? I am sure it will take alot of time to help heal you and your family, and there will always be that sadness there. I hope you are taking time for yourself!
I have not pulled much together yet! Nothing but excuses! I did get out for a 3 mile run 2 days ago but we got hit with another blizzard and so I did nothing yesterday. Just kind of lost my motivation, but I am going to get it together! Doing alot of searching on the site, looking at motivationaly stories and making some plans for meals and exercise. I will get it together.
Well, I better run! Hope all is well!

Good Morning Ladies!

Hope your day goes well!

Soooooo, I'm concerned that the Resolution Revolution leader VIRGOGURL4 may be MIA. I know that she was trying to put together a buddy challenge which I think is a great idea but we haven't heard anything. Also, no weigh in's or anything lately either. I sent her a message just to see what is going on. Hope that she is ok but weird though because she seems like such a motivated Sparker, I just hope that everything is ok with her. Just thought I would share in case anyone wants to check in with her...

Chrysbrown, I'm sorry about your loss. It is always hard to lose someone but extra hard to lose someone so young.

Stacey, hope the little is well soon.

My son is doing better. In fact, I think too much better. He ran a 10 k today in a town 2 hours from here. He said it about killed him because of the hills and he will never complain about the hills during cross country again. He finished 3rd. Then he had enough energy to go ice skating, eat Italian breakfast pastries and then have a big Italian lunch.

I had a good day. Got a good workout in which was amazing since I had to get my son up and 4:15 so he could eat before he caught the bus to the race and then get my daughter up at 6:30 for church. I tried to go back to sleep but between the phone ringing and my daughter asking me questions, it never happened. I'm sure before long it is going to catch up with me and I will crash and burn.

Have a great day!

Hi Everyone!

Stacy - so sorry to hear about your little one, I really hope she gets well soon, it's so awful when the babies are sick. Sorry about your mom's situation too, I hope you are able to work something out so that she can receive the best care possible.

Renee - Ay yi yi with your son! Hope he heals soon & you feel 100% better too!

I have had pretty much the worst week possible. I received devastating news over this past week. My sister's boyfriend/my best friend's little brother died unexpectedly in a car accident last Saturday. He was only 28 years old. One of the best people you could ever know & I knew him since he was the age of my oldest son. Anyhow, of course I have been in a fog since but Weds & Thurs topped it off because I had the wake & funeral. Just awful when someone so young passes. I'm trying to be there right now for my sister & friend but it's difficult. Soooooo, with that said I hacked it to keep up with my half marathon training but my nutrition has been way out of wack, too much sugar! I would start off well but then just lose it. Didn't do too much damage but don't feel so hot. Anyhow, hoping to restart on Monday since I don't really think I started the month out on the right foot.

Hi everyone, sorry I didn't get to chat yesterday but now my 6 month old is sick AGAIN! Fever, diareha, vomiting, YUCK! Then I also got the news that they are releasing my mom from the nursing home even though they know my father is incapable of taking care of her. Completely frustrating!

Stacy, hope the family is all well now.

Daughter has been sick this week. Wednesday evening I had to take my son to the ER again. He was running without his splint and fell, trying to keep from landing on his sprained thumb he turned his and and hurt his pinkie. Couldn't move it. After 2 hours there listening to people throw up we find out that it is sprained also. So instead of only 4 weeks left for the splint, he now has 6 weeks again. The doctor told him to keep it on, he only has 3 healthy fingers left. The weather has been horrible all week so all my exercise has been inside on the treadmill. Still not feeling the best, woke this morning short of breathe. Felt better after a nap so I'm happy about that. Have a busy weekend and week planned.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Good afternoon ladies! Well my 6 month old is feeling better, thank goodness. However, my 4 year is still vomiting! Completely frustrating! My Yoga class was canceled tonight, also completely frustrating. Oh well, I'll go spend some time on the treadmill instead. Hope everyone is having a great day!

Hi, I've been fighting getting sick for the last week or so. I exercise and then I sleep, a lot. The weather doesn't help, warm, sunny days and then cold, windy rainy days. Or it will start off warm and then the temp drops and it is cold. Or like Saturday, I woke to snow flurries and then the sun came out. Never warmed up but at least it was sunny. This week it is rain and wind. I am ready for spring. Daughter was home sick yesterday, both of us slept most of the day. Today I slept between exercise, hospital appts, picking off mail, dropping off car in shop and picking it up again - had to walk home and back with that. This evening I'm feeling better and will be heading to bed soon.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good Afternoon Team!

I added a thread for Mommy March Madness over on the challenge forum to track out food, support & fitness for the month!

With the nice weather approaching before we know it - or at least I *HOPE* it is - time to kick it up a notch.

Hi Stacy!

Don't beat yourself up about February, it is so understandable with all of your family concerns that weight loss or exercise minutes are a challenge & honestly that would be the furthest thing on my mind as family ALWAYS comes first too.

March will be better for sure! I think going in with a plan will definitely help that too!

I like the idea of continuing the fitness minute challenge & then following the nutrition piece as we all know (*unfortunately*) that it takes BOTH diet & exercise to lose weight. I personally just wish that it took exercise ;)

Well I didn't even come close to meeting my exericise goal for the month. Way too much going on with my husband being, sick, my mom in the nursing home, and now 2 sick kids. I have gained and lost the same 2 pounds all month! Completely FRUSTRATING! However, I am determined that the month of March is going to be better.

I think that sounds like an excellent idea for the March challenge. I am also going to add the 1000 fitness minutes since I didn't get that challenge met.

Hello Mommies!

Cannot believe today is the end of the month! How was your month? What did you accomplish this month? I had a pretty productive month...
* stuck with food tracking all month, some success & failures with that but at least I know why because I tracked everything
* lost some lbs, in total down 7 since January but February I saw a loss of about 3 lbs
* stuck with my half marathon training
* PR'd a 5K already! Didn't expect to meet that goal until later in the year

For March Madness would like to kick it up a notch! I begin triathlon training this month which makes things kinda hard to coordinate all of the training sessions. Plus I am going to try to keep eating clean which is hard when you are working out so much.

I am trying to come up with a challenge for the month to keep us all motivated. Since last month the focus with on minutes perhaps this month the focus should be on nutrition & support.

I was thinking of tracking...
Water 8 glasses: Goal Met?
Check in with 5 Sparkfriends/Sparkpages: Goal Met?
2 Clean foods per day, minimum: Goal Met?

Sally - hope you have a blast! I know that I would love to escape this New England weather right now for a tropical paradise!

Stacy - Sorry to hear about your daughter. Hope she feels better soon. I know what you mean about really making an effort & sometimes kids get sick. Especially when we are surrounded by parents that don't seem to put forth the effort as much, doesn't seem quite fair sometimes... It happens to the best of us but it is HARD when they are so young...

It's been a crazy week thus far for me, I'm saying this & it's only Tuesday! Lots of work stress. BUT, DH & I are going away to NY for a nice romantic getaway, belated V'day celebration. That will be fun for sure! Even with that said though I really have to *try* to make an effort not to completely blow all of my diet efforts, I mean a splurge is one thing but eating crappy all weekend is a problem too. I am looking forward to seeing the sights though! Because of this trip it will be hectic around her trying to get everything in order before we leave.

Hope everyone is having a great week! I cannot believe that it is almost the end of February! On the Fitness Challenge Minutes post I added that perhaps we should think about an upcoming challenge for March? Any ideas?? I posted a few there but what do you all think??

Hi gals! This is my last check in for abit more than a week as I am leaving for Mexico tomorrow. I hope to not gain terribly but do expect to, I just am not one of these people who go on holidays and watch what they eat!
Audreylynn - it is so completely understandable what you are feeling! It takes a long time to find a new normal when someone leaves us! Just take care!
Stacy - I hate when kids are sick - you feel so helpless, esp when they are so little! I don't know what magic we have to work, I know around here it often seems like the kids who are tough and never dressed right rarely get sick! Don't know how to avoid the bugs! Just hope everyone is soon well!
I will return next Thurs and will be checking in then! Take care!

Audrylynn, we are all thinking of you during this difficult time. Don't be too hard on yourself at a time like this.

I had to take my baby to the Dr. and she has bronchilitis and double ear infection. I was like what the heck is going on at my house. I clean all of the time, make sure the kids are always bundled up, etc and first my husband was sick and now Bella is sick. Totally frustrating especially when this lady walked into the Dr's office today and her little one was in a t-shirt and capri pants with no coat on! It's 29 deg. outside for heaven's sake and then she was bragging about how her child is never sick! Anyway I did manage to get a short workout in today so that's good at least. I'm going to have to get caught up on this team this week b/c I am failing my duties!

Audrey Lynn, it is understandable. It will take time. In time you will be able to do the activities without crying and will think of her with a smile instead.

Strange weekend, no electricity today, kind of blah feeling. Trying to shake it off.

Have a great day!

Hi Audrey Lynn...

Totally understandable considering your recent loss. Just like you said though, you are trying & that definitely matters. I hope you can find some different activities too.

Valentine's Day was HARD! My 4 year old had crap loads of candy from school. Good stuff too! Luckily DH refrained from purchasing any goodies. I stayed clear. Eating has been really consistent since the beginning of the year really but I'm making the most strides on the weekends by just making overall better food choices. What I find challenging is that when I have something that comes up that differs from my day to day it makes it hard - for instance, next weekend DH & I are going away to NY. Now that will be damage! But I have to find a way to jump back on the wagon & not go too crazy. Eating well is the hardest part though, it's something that I think I will always have to make an effort to monitor...

My eating hasn't been too bad but my house is filled with sweets b/c of Valentine's Day. I'm making my husband take most of them to school which my 4 year old wasn't too happy about! LOL! I'm also surrounded by sweets at work and they put the table right in front of my desk so I wouldn't even need to leave my desk to reach them! Yuck! I am proud of myself b/c I've only allowed myself one sweet all week.

Hey girls! I am jealous of your weather! I got out for a run first thing this am before the snow and wind really hit. It is about -15C here but an ugly wind putting the wind chill down into the -20s. She is a real blizzard here right now, I can't even see across our yard to where my husband is doing chores!
I have also only done Tae Bo and then I guess P90X has a kickboxing dvd I did abit! I think it would be an awesome workout esp to your legs, bum and abs! There is a zumba class in a nearby town, I have heard it is a blast but I have never made it in to it.
I have done a wide range of videos - P90, P90X, Slim in 6 and many different Firms. My favorite are the Firms, but honestly, I would rather get outside and run any day! A year ago I would not have said that, in fact, I couldn't run a minute I am sure! But once I stayed with the Learn to Run, it really clicked and I love it.

How is everyone's eating going? I have been mostly good, but really seem to be picking lots lately. Trying to stay on track fairly well since I leave for Mexico next week. Trying to stay away from the bloating foods but seem to just be craving my carbs!
Well, I better be off! Hope all is well!

Hello & good afternoon!

Hi Stacy - wow, 71 is really nice! Today it is 53 around here & we are all loving it! Your class sounds like fun although I am highly uncoordinated so I've never been so good at those classes, takes me forever to learn the moves. I have never done an instructor lead kickboxing class only Tae Bo which I doubt counts as true kickboxing. I would imagine though with even trying to figure out the moves you are getting some good cardio in ;)

Oh - but I did try Zumba once, that was fun & frustrating at the same time because again the steps are all over the place but I learned that I wasn't the only one struggling & most of the peope that looked like pros had been doing many more clases than I.

Enjoy your day!

Good afternoon Ladies! It's so beautiful here today. 71 and nice and sunny. I would love to be out walking but instead I'm stuck at the office. I had a pretty good workout last night but the instructor is getting a little crazy with some of the moves. She added a lot of kickboxing but I just don't like it b/c I have no idea how to do it and then I feel like I don't get a very good workout in.

What do you guys think of Kickboxing? Pros and cons?

Anyway have a great day!

I was at a high school football game this fall when a player got hurt, his mother jumped up and ran down to him. The corpman where trying to take care of him and she keep getting in the way. The son told her that she was embarrassing him and to back off. It was funny. My son told me if I ever did that he would disown me. Of course, he does track and cross country, he gets different types of injuries. And has called me on more than one occasion to come and get him when he was hurt and needed to go to the ER. It happens and I try to take it all in stride.

I had a good day today with eating and exercise. I will sleep good tonight especially since I'm going to talk 800 mg of motrin for my headache. It is the only thing that works when I get my monthly headache. Tomorrow I will wake up feeling good as new.

Hope everyone has a great day and a great weekend if I don't make it back to post tomorrow.

Hey gals! Sorry I haven't made it here to post lately, I have been just checking in with Chrysbrown re:a fitness mins challenge. Anyway, thought I would pop back over here to see what is going on!
Stacy - so happy to hear things are getting better. There always is sunshine after a rain, but sometimes it just takes forever to get that shine! And drinking your water is nothing to sneeze at - that will have helped you lots!
Libitsmom - Wow, the joys of boys! I have 3 of them so I am sure stories like that will come up! Around here, most of the boys play hockey and it is a really big thing. I will be the Mom jumping from the stands if my boys get pushed down!
Chrysbrown - you have just been doing awesome! Glad we have you to keep us going!

I leave next Tuesday for a week in Mexico. I have had alot of people comment on how much weight I have lost lately. The funny thing is, I really haven't lost much, but I do think the weight has kind of redistributed. I have been trying to do my Firm workouts, they promise visible results in 10 workouts and I have to say it is true. I am not in the exact shape I wanted to be for our trip but it is better than where I was!

Hope all continues to go well this week with everyone!

Happy Valentine's Day Ladies!

Hope that you are spreading the love today!
Stacy - welcome back! It sounds like you have so many things going on with your family right now but it's wonderful that you are there for them when they need you. Hopefully things will ease up a bit there because it certainly sounds like you have a lot on your plate. Glad you family members are starting to feel better too!

LILBITSMOM - OMG about your son! Kids...sheesh, arm wrestling huh? & I bet he was mighty proud that he won those 3 out of 4 matches LOL! Sounds like a good plan with the water & green tea, sometimes just flushing out the toxins, yucky stuff is all we need.

I am so ready to attack this week! This weekend was nice & relaxing & I gained zero pounds over the weekend...woohoo! I always puts on some poundage over the weekend because I eat bad. My secret this week was that whatever goodies I had I made sure to make them low fat/cal, for instance, when I had a craving for ice cream I went with the Edy's Churn Style 1/2 the fat version instead of the regular. Just little tweaks like that seemed to help out.

Have a great day & a wonderful week team!

Hope everyone has a great Valentine's Day!

I had planned to spend some quality time on Sparkpeople today. I had to stay home and wait on the plumber. He finally came and I now have hot water. But before I could finish visiting my teams, my son came home from school hurt. He hurt his thumb, I was worried it was broken again so off to the ER we walked. I was carless today. They were packed with sick kids but after 45 minutes he was taken back and after another 30 minutes he was seen by the doctor and then sent for xrays. It was not broken but badly sprained, again. He is in a splint for 6 weeks, again. How did he did he do it, you ask. Arm wrestling during lunch. Won 3 out of 4 matches. No more of that for him.

Anyways, weight is up, I'm bloated. Drinking a lot of water and green tea in hopes of getting whatever, is causing it.

Have a great day!

Happy Valentines Day everyone! I am finally back and I am so happy about it! Things are not exactly perfect or stress free yet but it is definitly better. I'm happy to report that my husband is feeling better. He still has a bad cough but for the most part he's better. My mom is officially checked into the nursing home so I don't think that I'll have to do much more with that. My dad is still being difficult in the fact that he know how to do absolutely nothing. He can't write checks, cook, do laundry, or even walk into a restaurant and order a meal. I told him that if he wants to continue to live at home then he's going to have to take some responsibility b/c I cannot continue to maintain 3 households but he doesn't like any of the food suggestions I have given him so he's going to have to adjust somehow.

Anyway, CRYSBROWN, I cannot thank you enough for all of the work that you have done for this team. You have been a great leader!

I think my biggest sucess has been being consistent with drinking my 88oz of H20 everyday through all of this craziness. It doesn't sound like much but at least it's one thing I've been able to do.

Have a wonderful day everyone!

Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could; some blunders and absurdities have crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; you shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be

Good Morning, sorry I have not been around much. My husband is home and it comes down to spending time with him or on Sparkpeople. And he won. He leaves again at the beginning of next week for a month. With him home my weight loss is at a standstill. It was expected, I'm not as good at tracking and eating healthy when he is home.

Hope everyone is doing good and has a great day!

Hi there Yolanda!

Completely understand, life does get really really busy. Good though that you've been working out & staying healthy. Solid plan too with the tracking.

Hi! I haven't had a chance to catch up on posts. Life/work has been really busy, sorry for not dropping by very often. I've been working out daily and drinking lots of water. Last week I only tracked my food about half the time, so I am working at stepping that up this week.

Hope you are all having a great week!

Yolanda

Hi Sally - emoticon emoticon on the emoticon !!

I would suggest looking online at the Hal Higdon running program, they have it for beginners, intermediate & advanced. Congratulations on taking the half marathon plunge, I think you'll enjoy it!

Hey all! How is everyone doing? Sorry to hear about your treadmill Chrysbrown. It is never a bad investment if you use it is how I look at it! And I know you will use your treadmill! I don't own one, my husband said we could get one but our issue is room. With 3 kids, only 2 rooms and a basement that is already full of "stuff", I simply don't have the room for a treadmill. Someday I hope to so I can keep with running over the winter.

Speaking of running, my sister and I have just signed up for our first ever race, it is going to be a 1/2 marathon. We were hoping to do a 5 or 10 k first but where we live, there just aren't alot of options without a 3 hour plus drive. So here's to training..... we run in Regina, Sk on Sept. 11. Any ideas on where to access some training info?

I haven't got my minutes in yet for the day, but I will. It is a cardio day which I enjoy so much more over strength! Oh, and on a good note, I have lost 3 of the 5 lbs I gained this past Monday, must have been some bloat and hormonal changes! I feel so much better!

Hope you all are well!

Happy Friday!

How was everyone's week?

I am glad mine is coming to an end, we've had snow, snow & more snow so I'm looking forward to a bit of rest & snuggling in my nice warm home.

Going to try to keep focused this weekend especially with the eating. I have a dinner date with friends on Saturday night & while I won't completely restrict myself I have to plan for that meal & make sure not to go overboard.

Also, my beloved treadmill has kicked the bucket for good this time...she's served me very well, 5 years we've been together & she a nordic track & was used when I got her. This weekend, the big chore is to get a new one prices are pretty steep but I gotta do it, I live in New England so there is not much of a choice plus going to the gym everyday wouldn't work for me with the kids or DH

Stacy, I am so sorry to hear of all that you and your family is going through. You have alot on your plate - I hope it all works out soon for you guys!

Chrysbrown - I think a separate forum topic speaking mainly to our fitness mins is an awesome idea! It will really challenge us when we can see what others are doing. I have a question though- for example, today I did a Firm video which combines cardio and strength for 50 mins. So in my fitness tracker I just split it in half - 1/2 the mins to strength and 1/2 to high impact aerobics. Now this only gives me 5 fitness mins in re:the strength portion - so is that all I get to count for that part? No big deal, I am just sad about that! lol! I will bea way for that week in Feb but I am going to really try to have 3/4 of my mins done!

I better run! Thanks for the challenge, I am back up full force now!

Stacy- I am so sorry to hear about your mom. I understand, I went through this same situation a couple months ago. My husband went into the hospital, then both of my parents went into the hospital and my 15 month old was teething again. I was 6 months pregnant at the time as well! :) Hope that everything turns out well for your husband and mom. emoticon

I am game for the fitness minutes challenge this month! I need the motivation to get my exercise in! Are we shooting for 1000 minutes?

Good Morning Ladies

Stacy - so sorry to hear about your mom, sending prayers for you & your family, stay strong.

As far as handling stress, cannot say I'm an expert in that! I don't tend to eat a whole lot when I am stressed out but I tend to vent to anyone & everyone that will listen...family, friends & especially the hubby. Wish there was a magic cure to relieve it without completely freaking out.

As far as the challenge...happy to report that I had a solid 1 hr run this AM on the treadmill. I think 1000 minutes is very reasonable & will give us all the extra push...

Unless we would like to start another thread how about just adding into our check in's an update because I really like to see what everyone is doing to get those minutes in, it's really motivational to me & gives me some ideas...

I think that's an excellent idea! How many minutes should we shoot for? I think at least a 1000, that's seems pretty reasonable.

Well to give everyone an update about my situation, my husband is back to feeling better but literally the next day my mom got sick so I was sitting in the hospital with her and now from the hospital she's going to have to go to the nursing home. I've brought my dad back to my house so he can kind of calm down and adjust. It's really quite sad b/c my mom is only 71 but she has always been very overweight and just wants to sit all of the time so her Parkinson's has advanced rapidly.

Anyway Question of the day: How do you guys handle stress?

Hope everyone is having a wonderful Monday!

I did not make it to chat last night, it just won't work for me at that time. 5:30 am would probably be best for me (lol), that is about the quietest time there is around here!

ChrysBrown, I am with you on a mini challenge. I kind of fell apart the last few days of January and I am having one heck of a time refocusing! I would love to join you and on a fitness minutes challenge! I am just 3 weeks until I leave for my trip and not that I am going to be in supermodel shape, but I sure would like to look "okay" and more importantly, feel "okay"! My eating has really sucked the last few days and I need to get my head around it and get on!!!! Do you want to just follow each other in the challenge here on this forum? What are we going to say for minutes?

Did anyone find a weigh in place today? I think it is weigh in day isn't it? I wish it wasn't - I am up 5 lbs! Not sure why, I have been doing alot of strength training and lifting heavier, and I am starting to be in my PMS week but really...5 lbs!!! That is what really derailed me yesterday, dumb I know but it did! Anyway, I am trying hard to drink lots of water and flush away the bloat!

Hope you are all doing well!

Hi Everyone!

Did anyone make the chat yesterday? I did not unfortunately.

Hope everyone had a good weekend! Mine was pretty nice, just not long enough. Did a 5K with my mom on Saturday which was so much fun but running in 20 degrees has it's challenges!

So, I was thinking, now that it will be officially 2/1/11 tomorrow, why not a mini-challenge within our little group? Like a certain amount of fitness minutes for the month? Maybe shooting for 1000-2000? I know most of us are working out to shed those stubborn lbs & by challenging each other to track those minutes we can see how are efforts are paying off in the end...

What do you think?

Good Morning, I woke early this morning with all intentions of exercising. As I laid in bed thinking about it, all warm and snuggly I decided to wait until later to exercise and spark first. I really prefer to be awake when I exercise so I don't get hurt. I did get up out of my warm bed to spark, had to turn the heat on and put socks and a sweatshirt on but I'm here. I hate being cold and am so ready for warmer weather.

Hope everyone has a great Monday!

Just stopping in to say hi. Hope everyone makes it to chat tonight, I won't because of the time. It is going to be a busy week for me. My dh is coming home Tuesday for a week so I will spend time with him and get my exercise in. Don't know how much computer time I will have.

Have a great day!

Stacy - family comes first. Don't worry about not being on here for a few days. I hope you are able to get some sleep soon.

I agree with Sally, I am better if I get my exercise in first thing in the morning, otherwise I am thinking about it all day. Food too, if I plan my meals I make better choices, otherwise.

Stacy, do not worry for one minute! You definitely have way more important things going on! Sure, this is an important part but family always comes first! I hope your husband is soon feeling better and that your little one gets those teeth popped out! And I hope you soon get some sleep! Take care!

Hi everyone, I'm sorry I disappeared on you! What a terrible leader I am! Life has been very stressfull lately. My husband has been in and out of the hospital since last Thursday. He has been terribly sick and having horrible headaches. They have done a chest x-ray, c-t scan, spinal tap, 2 blood patches, influenza test and we still have no idea what is going on. They think that he has a bad virus and it's going to have to run it's course. On top of all of that my 5 month old is teething and I have been up with her every night, all night since Saturday. Unfortunately I didn't handle the stress well and ate a ton of fast food junk and had no time for exercise. Doug is feeling a little better so I'm hoping to get back on track this weekend. With all of this going on I didn't make it to the chat the other night. Did anyone? Okay anyway, I promise next week I will be a much better leader and I am sincerely sorry that I disappeared this week! Welcome all new members!

Good question! In my opinion, eating right is harder - it is something that is on my mind all day long and often a struggle. If I can get my exercise done in the am, (which isn't always doable), then it is something I don't think of for the rest of the day. Now in saying that, if I DON'T get it done, I do contemplate it all day long. I still think it is an easier chore when it comes to the healthy overhaul! If I could just exercise daily but yet eat everything I wanted, I would think life was easy!

In saying all of this, I didn't get my exercise done until this afternoon. It was so tempting to lay down when the boys did but I knew if I did, my exercise would not get done. So I pushed through 45 mins of the Firm which was a combo of strength and cardio with the step. It does feel good to get it done!
