HI, I'm 58. I'm looking to lose a total of 10 lbs.(doesn't seem like much when I say it, but doing it is another issue). I seem to be stuck at the halfway point. I joined SP to get help get my focus. Even though I have a desk job I try to keep fairly active. (Zumba 2x a week, fencing 1x). Besides the 10lbs I was to be fit & healthy. I'm little frustrated right now because allergies have just knocked me for a loop & I'm feeling a little down. On the bright side, this too shall pass & I will continue on.

Hello, I am 32 years old. I have more than half of my weight to loose or 66 kg.
I am depressed over my situations and have low self esteem. Last three years have been hard on my because of illness in the family and my depression (specially this winter). I have 1 boy, 5 years old and live with the love of my life, his father. Together we have high hopes and dreams but our dreams must come true now so it is time for me to get motivate and stop sitting in the couch. Last fall I started in college, learning energy engineering, but had to quit because of my depression. I regret it every day and hope I can be there again next fall.

I am new here, and was looking for motivation in the page.emoticon

Hello! I am a 33 yr. old mother of 1 and a high school teacher who over the years lost my self, but is now ready to find my groove again. I am exercising, building my endurance and watching portions. I know it is a process and I am working at it daily. The past weeks have really motivated me to track my food and exercise which has been more then I have even done before.

This time I visualize the new woman that I will ben in a few months, the new wardrobe that I will be buying, and the new self confidence that I will be displaying everywhere I go! I am ready and for the first time in a long time I believe that this time I am going to make it become a reality.

I figured its about time for me to add to this.
Hi! I'm an ex-SparkPeople member. Lost about 30 pounds and stopped visiting. I stopped tracking calories, and working out? Not at all. So i've gained it back. Never quite met my goal weight. This time will be different. My husbands been so supportive with not bringing bad foods around, and i'm feeling super encouraged and ready to get things going. I'm scared that if I don't take care of this now, one day i'll have children and even less time to hit the gym. I would need to set good examples of food choices with them. I'm also scared to be another statistic of diabetes & heart disease.

I am turning 50 next year and I want to feel better about myself.

I am a stressed out workaholic. Controller/Scheduler of a small mfg. firm in Silicon Valley.
Did I mention that I have been working with my hubby for the last 26 years. Commute back to the country daily.

I am hoping the healthier choice changes I am making will put me back in my happy place. I really need those happy endorphins, my time spent with the horses give me, but they are currently enjoying the pasture life because my stress has locked me in.

I am hoping the community here will keep me motivated.emoticon

Hi there, I am the mother of a 12 year old boy and I have 3 step children 11 8 and 6 of whom we have joint custody of, so let me start over, I am the mother of 4 lol, I am a workaholic hairstylist who works 3 days a week in a salon, I have a home salon i work 6 days a week in and I also drive school bus. All of my life, until I was around 31 my family had said I was the milk mans child because I was thin and the rest always had weight trouble.... All that changed with one major medical decision!

2 years ago I quit smoking a pack ofcigarettes a day, I had smoked for 18 years. My fiancee requested this of me because his father had died of lung cancer from smoking...etc... So i fought the demon and won but, I also gained 30+ pounds in the process.

So here I am conquering yet another demon, and I am seeming to have good success so far, I have lost 3+ lbs to date and I am very excited, I have to admit when I started Sparkpeople I was a bit skeptical but I am amazed that it really works, and I have such a feeling of self accomplishment!

And on the treadmill as we speak. I am on the internet so much, I figured if I walked as much as I am on, I will lose a crap load of weight in no time. However, its better for reading than writing, I'm a little hunched over right now. Hmm..I wonder if my hubby can make a shelf to bring it closer (lightbulb momemt!)

My name is Sarah...I am 45lbs over my goal weight. I had a baby 2 months ago, but I was overweight before that. I have, however, been underweight most of my life and had OCD induced anorexia for 5 years of my 20's (I'm 32). I spontaneously got over that when I was 29/30 and then packed on 50lbs in about 6 months time with the help of fast food and alcohol. I am now 70lbs over what has been normal my entire adulthood. But I'll settle with losing 40lbs, which will put me at a comfortable 115. My knees will thank me..they've had a hell of a time the last few years. They don't like fat Sarah.

My "plan" is to learn portion control and healthy eating choices. Exercise is going to take some time as my knees are really suffering right now..as are my ankles and wrists (Yoga is not my friend). So far I've lost 2lbs. THAT is something. In all the time I've ever tried to lose weight, I have never lost a pound. I even had a personal trainer for a few months..and nothing. But when I don't try...,I'll lose 20lbs in a month (OCD/Stress related not eating).

Really tho..if I can just get a shelf on this treadmill..I could do this walking thing all day! Except I have a baby..and sometimes he wakes up and wants something like food or to be changed. Babies are so needy :P I guess I'll have to strap him on my back. heh.

Hello! I'm a 32 year old wife & mother of 2 boys (aged 9 1/2 and 9 months). I'm a high school teacher, but haven't been teaching the last year. I hope to start again this next year. I'm so excited about finding this site and have had a ton of fun inputting nutrition information & meeting my fitness goals. Hi all, not navigating this website very well. I will be surprised if this shows up on the forum. I am 56, mom of 2 young adult sons, married to an artist and an art teacher myself. My biggest passion is my horse. I ride as much as possible, a low level event rider. Love, love love it. Struggled with weight all my teen-adult life. Lots of years in a good range, but have always thought of myself as fat.
But, now and for the past many years I have let my weight creep up to the obese range. I need to lose 40 pounds, but am going at it 10 pounds at a time. I hope to lose 20 by the end of June. That would be a load off.
I like this website. It is upbeat and cheery and motivating. I am doing pretty well on my tracking, but other than riding my horse. I can't seem to motivate myself to go to the gym.
Everyday is a new day and I am feeling better just staying in control of my night time mindless eating. I am a vegetarian. I eat pretty healthy, but too much. Cutting back on dairy and carbs is helping.
Hooray for spring! Until next time...emoticon

My husband is a pharmacist also, so I know that not only is the job stressful, but you also must work very long hours on your feet, cannot take meal breaks (or you'd need to lock up the pharmacy), have to work weekends and holidays, and get blamed by customers for the high cost of co-pays. Are you eating only once a day, at night? Do you have time for exercise? How do you de-stress? Perhaps you could find some relaxing rewards for your work that do not involve food?

I increased in weight during my 2 pregnancys, through general baby weight and eating because of a little bit of depression. I am OK now and ready to get healthy.

Hello everyone! I am a 28 year old pharmacist who has managed to gain 40 pounds in less than 2 years since graduating and getting married. My ultimate goal is to try and lose 50 pounds so that I can both feel good about myself and also meet the weight requirements for my job in the United States Public Health Service. Hopefully trying SparkPeople will help me with this endeavor! I'm feeling a little hopeless about weight loss in general because I had lost 60lbs before my wedding and just couldn't seem to keep it off. emoticon Still, I think with hard work and dedication that I should have some success!

Hi Everyone
I am new here but not to trying to loose weight and be healthy. I am 44,a home school mom of a teenage son, wife to a wonderful husband and am on disability because of fibromyalgia.
I have tried it all and never been able to stick with it, I now have more motivation then ever I found out I have diabetes in September. I have lost 25lbs that came off pretty easy but now can't get the scale to move no matter what.
I have a hard time opening up to people and telling the truth about who I am. Like I am always fine,even though I really am not. I decided to really put my all into spark and see if making the change of opening up makes a difference.

I'm Michelle. I've been on SP before but recently found myself right back where I started. I decided to start over, on Spark and with my goals. I'm 28 and want to lose nearly 50 pounds. I like to exercise once I get going but tend to have trouble getting motivated to start. Hi, My name is Peg and I am excited about starting Sparkpeople. I am 45years old, have a husband and three children, 2 in their 20's and one 15 years old. My goal is to be a happy, fit and active grandmother when the time comes. I also want to feel good about my body when my kids get married and there is no time like the present. I need to loose 40-50 lbs but not by any certain time. I have fibromyalgia but this is the best time of year for me to exercise with out pain. I have started working part time and am able to walk to work everyday, 3 miles round trip with lots of hills, so my goal is to walk every day. Would love to talk to anyone who has gluten allergies, and how you modified the meal plans.

Hi everyone - my name is CarylAnn - I was on sparkpeople before but just stopped using it so I thought I'd try it again - I'd like to lose 25-30 lbs - never had this extra weight till about 9 years ago, my husband of 10 years took all the stress of being a single mother away and he bakes and cooks the most delicious food - and here it is. My motivation - my daughter is getting married in Jamaica on May 8th so I had to do something..I started at Anytime fitness and had a personal trainer once a week - I would go on those days since I was accountable to someone - the other days I might go I might not - well my trainer opened his own gym and I have been committed - I go 3 days a week and he kicks my butt - he's very reasonable - I would love to go 5 days a week but that gets to be to much...I must admit I love the challenges he gives me..I think I eat very healthy but the weight is not falling off as fast as I'd like it to - in fact I think I gained - is that muscle, I don't know - clothes are fitting better - so my goal w/spark is food - I'll take any suggestions anyone has - oh I'm 52 and live in Mass.

I Can Do This!!!!

Hello everyone! My name is Crystal. I don't really know what to say to tell you the truth....I guess I'm a little bad at these things. But any how, I'll take a stab at it. I'm 21 years old, I attend college full time. I'm trying to lose weight to improve my self esteem and my life. I'm only 5' 5" and I way around 165 pounds. Not what I'm use too at all back in high school I weighed only 135 pounds and I felt comfortable with myself. Now, I just want to lose the weight and be as health as I was back then before all the stress and stuff got to me. But that all asside, I have a wonderful family consisting of my Fiancιe and my two younger siblings, and our pets. I know our family isn't normal but it is a loving and supportive one. I love them all so much :)

Hello. I go by Mm. I'm 52, married, between us we have 6 adult children, and so far nearly 3 grandchildren. I've been in the process of losing excess weight since last summer. So far I've lost 18lbs and have a goal to lose about 50lbs more. I break it down to avoid overwhelming myself. The current goal is to lose by June 21 (12 weeks) 180lbs (-12ish lbs). By September 21 (25 weeks) 170lbs (-22ish lbs). That's one lb a week, minimum. (I use the Solstices and Equinoxes to measure a lot of things. :)

I love to be active, especially in the outdoors. I recently walked a half marathon. I ran for a long time but had to quit because of knee issues exacerbated by a weight gain brought on by a medication change. I miss it, but I'm walking a lot, hiking, snowshoeing, nordic skiing, and doing yoga.

I joined SparkPeople looking for human support besides my doctor. :) I'm still building my pages. I look forward to making friends here, supporting others, and being part of the SP community

I have just started on The Beck Diet Solution, and am loving it because it feels like it's been tailored to me. It advises that I need to get a Diet Coach, so this is it for me.
I'm super optimistic because it's been 2 days and I already feel so much support !!

Hi everyone! My name is Sarah and I'm 26, turning 27 on Wednesday April 6. I've been married for almost a year and we bought a house 6 months ago. We're thinking of trying for kids very soon, but I want to get healthy and lose excess weight before any babies come along. I'm here because I have heard amazing things about SparkPeople's online support, and I need an outlet to chat about my weight struggles... I think my real life buddies get sick of hearing about it sometimes!

I'm doing cardio for 45+ minutes 5-6 days a week, strength training 2-3 days a week, and a more wholesome diet with small portions and more meals.

We can do it! emoticon

Hey group! My name is PushPin. I'm a 28 year old female. I'm working with a personal trainer/life coach/amazing aunt and she suggested I create a community online as well. I have quite a bit of weight to lose but I've decided to break it into more manageable parts. For rig now, I want to lose 30 pounds by June 10. I want to make the roller derby team in my area and have been practicing for a couple of months. I teach 1st grade in northern California and I love my job (most days). I've tried to lose weight before and this time it feel different because I have a different mindset. Im energized, have goals and am doing this weight loss thing.

Hi I am new to Sparkpeople, and new to this team. My name is Dennis. I am a 51 year old man. I have over 200 lbs that I need to lose. I have many things that I want to do in life and my weight is holding me back or slowing me down on many of those things. I am a widower for 10 years, so I have no real support system at home. A friend told me about Sparkpeople.com, and he is having much success since he became active on here. I am ready to make the changes that are needed for me to be able to try to reach the many desires that I have for myself in life. I know that this is a process that I can't make on my own, and since there is no support system at home (no family), I am hoping to find support here. I am hoping to find many friends and get the inspiration, motivation, sugestions, and guidance from the people that will help. Hello everyone!
I am a 42 year old mother of 3. I have a 6, 14 and 19 year old... ALL BOYS! I joined Spark to help lose the left over baby weight from my last pregnancy. Yes I know that was 6 years ago, some how it didn't really show up until the last year. :) I have recently signed on to coach my 6 year old soccer team so hopefully I will be getting more excercise. I work in an office environment and it is really hard to get rid of the belly. I joined only yesterday and have already begun to pay attention to what I put in my body. hi I'm tlmraz. I am a 34 yo mom of 3 and love it. I recently was treated for thyroid cancer and had my thyroid removed. Afterwards I gained some weight :( I truly am looking forward to tracking to my goal. I needed a fresh new start with weight loss and Sparkpeople seems pretty cool! greetings team. i am looking for that edge to force me to loose that last little bit of weight and those unsightly love handles. I think the community aspect will help push me to not eat almost every cookie in sight. i am excited about a half-marathon i have on april 10th, i really dont want it to rain. also, i started taking muay thai classes in february, so that has definitely been a challenge, but i reccommend it highly to anyone looking for fighting that teaches punches, kicks, elbows, knees, blocks and basically anything else you can think up.]

Hi everyone!

I'm here because I'm tired of yoyo-ing. I've gained and lost, gained and lost and now I'm ready to lose and keep the weight lose. To learn how to "nip it in the bud" when the weight starts to creep back in and not let my weight get back up to 10 pounds and more.

I'm 36 years old, married, living on Maui. I've just moved to here with my husband. I've been overweight in high school and college and thanks to a great friend, she got me into running. Since then I've lost a total of 60 pounds but I've gained (unfortunately) 10 pounds and am still trying to learn to deal with the mindset of gaining weight and not let it affect my self esteem. And it's tough.

I hope I can find some buddies to team up with it's definitely a journey that's easier with others who understand.

Hello Team! My name is Leslie and I recently moved from Texas up to Montana. Love the seasons! Do NOT miss the heat or humidity! I'm 39 and 24 lbs (at least) too heavy. My husband thinks I'm still super sexy so it was hard to face the facts about my weight. I'm guessing that I'm about 167 (I don't own a scale) and I picked 24 because I have a goal of 1 to 2 lbs a week and a deadline of 24 weeks. If I do better, great! As my dad told me when he heard my dieting news, whatever I set my mind to, I get er done (okay I'm paraphrasing - my dad would NEVER say that!). I hope we all reach our goals! Go Team!

I'm 26 years old and I live in South Florida. Recently I have gotten into running. I quit smoking Feb 7, 2010 to make that easier. I have a really annoying 5-8 pounds to lose, depending on the day. I'm kinda down right now because I can't run. Hence why its now 8 pounds. I messed with some tendon around my shins (not shin splints luckily) while doing some interval training. On top of that I have a large planters wart on the bottom of my foot that when it gets too big i can't run outside. So last thursday I had part of it removed so this Thursday I should be able to run again. I want to get it completely removed but they said i couldnt run for 4-6 weeks. I know eventually I'll have to have it removed and I will be so depressed without running. I'm hoping that I can workout in other ways that will make feel just as good and help me lose weight in the meantime.

Hi everyone! I am having trouble losing the last 100 pounds. LOL I guess if it were easy everyone would be the perfect weight.emoticon

I am 42 and living in New Mexico. A month ago I started working out 3 times a week with some weight lifting and lots of cardio. I still have not lost a pound. I really joined because of the food track because that is where my downfall is.

I've tried losing weight before but always ended up losing a few pounds then gaining more shortly afterward. Hey Ya'll!
I'm a recent transplant to Seattle and I have been a little depressed and housebound since leaving my beautiful home in southeast Alabama. Yes, the pounds have crept up until I no longer feel comfortable in my clothing. I've tried dieting with no success. I know that I really need to exercise daily and eat healthy foods instead of binging on milkshakes and cheeseburgers to ease my depression. I am hoping by making myself accountable to friends on in this forum that I will once again be the joyful, vibrant woman I once was. I have no excuses, I work part-time at the Y and have a free membership. I feel quite self-conscious and I think that is what has finally motivated to change how I look and feel.

I joined a gym two months ago, and am in a "Biggest Loser" style competition for the next 8 weeks, and I just need a kick in the pants! Hey!
I just found this today and joined. So much information. ! I recently went to the Dr for a bad blister on my toe and the Doc did an A1C and it was too high to read in the office..long story short I ended up in the ER. They have started me out on 10 units of Lantus a day and 500 mg metformin a day. It hasn't really made a dent in my levels. I am going back to the Dr today and hopefully they will up my doses.

Hi everybody. I'm 31 years old, have over 25 pounds to lose, and know what I need to work on. My biggest challenge is going to be making fitness a part of my daily routine AND making smarter food choices, particularly when snacking.

HI everyone! I'm here to help motivate me to eat healthier, while tracking calories. I workout often, but drink way too many sodas/coffee drinks and eat anything I want which has me about 10 lbs over my ideal weight. I'm excited to have a group of people to chat with that are all working towards getting healthier....

My name is Joanna and I'm 23 years old. I come from a small town in Kentucky. I have been married for almost six years. When I first met my husband I weighed 145 lbs and I now weigh 214. I started gaining all this weight a few months after my husband and I were married. I have trouble with staying motivated and my weaknesses are sweets, especially chocolate and eating at night.
