Welcome back to you too, Joanna... I've taken a "hiatus" from SP myself in the past, and I find that it really helps to do the "fresh start" when you come back!

GOOD LUCK to you as well!

Hey there, Jenifer! Glad to see you too!

Sometimes fresh starts are just what we need to get things "moving" again... esp. when it comes to the scale!

GOOD LUCK!!! I know you can do it!

Hi Sonja. Glad to see you here. I have been a member for awhile but lost my way and I am now getting back to it. I decided on a fresh start and a new SP Class for support.

I am happy to see how well you are doing!

Jenifer

I am so excited to have the privilege of getting to know all of you, and help you get started on your journey w/ Sparkpeople! My name is Sonja, and I hit the "big 4-0" a couple years ago. Rather than being upset about this milestone as so many are, I'm actually excited... because I am healthier & happier now than I have ever been in my life before!

I have fought my weight since high school. I graduated from HS a size 16-18, was married a year later as a plus size 18, and was pregnant within a couple months @ the age of 20. At my first pre-natal appt., I weighed in at 201 lbs., and spent the next 17 yrs. fighting a never-ending "battle of the bulge". I've lost the same 50 lbs. at least 5 times over my lifetime, and each time I not only regained the weight, but also seemed to find a few extra lbs. to pack on with it!

In Sept. 2007, I weighed in at my heaviest: 272 lbs. (I probably actually weighed more than that, as I have a pic of myself on my Sparkpage just a month before this, and I have no idea how much I weighed at that point!) I decided to finally take control of my life, once and for all. The first part of my "journey" started w/ Nutrisystem. I used it for 9 months to help myself get control of my eating (which was seriously outta whack)... and in the process lost about 70 lbs. Due to some health issues, I stopped it and tried to maintain my weight over the next 6 months. While I didn't put all the weight back on I had lost, I did regain about 30 of them.

That's when I saw an ad for Sparkpeople in a health magazine... and this site has been the key for me! It hasn't been a perfect journey... I've had my up's & down's... but SP has kept me going, gotten me through the plateaus (and bad decisions), and gotten me back to "ONE"derland... for the first time in 20 years!!!

I know how much SP has changed and improved my life... and I am sure it can do the same for all of you as well... and I look forward to being a part of that!
