Hi there! My name is Chelsea I am in the process of a lifestyle makeover. I was a smoker and an emotional eater. It took me a while to find this group and happy to be here! emoticon

Hi everyone! I'm Pam and I joined March 10 but am just making my way to this group. I've lost just over 8 pounds since I started and want to lose about 17 more. I'm doing well with exercise, I do ChaLEAN Extreme and Zumba, but still struggle a bit with food.
I'm happy to have found this group to find people who started when I did!

I am Monica. I joined SP because basically I am tired of being fat. I want to look in a mirror and not be repulsed. I don't want to be fat at 40. I want my kids to be able to put their arms all the way around me when they hug me. I want to stop being embarrassed by my weight.

I have been overweight since middle school. For years I have made excuse- blamed it on medications, the fact that I was not allowed to take gym in school anymore, having kids-even though I lost wight during every pregnancy- anything I could think of other than I ate too much and didn't exercise.

I am a mom of 4 (19, 17, 11, and 9) and married to a great man for 13 years.

I love you, and because I love you, I would sooner have you hate me for telling you the truth than adore me for telling you lies. - Pietro Aretino

Hi everyone! I joined SparkPeople a few years ago and lost about 20lbs. Once I started working on my second degree, work and school took over. I re-committed to my 'spark' on March 8th (kinda random day). So, I'm joining this team.

Good luck to everyone else striving for a healthy lifestyle.

I joined SP almost a week ago. I am also doing Weight Watchers through an At Work Series. I find in some respects that it is easier to track on the WW site/iPhone app than w/SP site/iPhone app, but that might improve with time. I look forward to getting to and maintaining a healthy lifestyle with all of you.

Hello there! It's so nice to know you are all out there! I joined last week so I'm in the 2nd half of my first week. I started out hopeful and I'm working hard to change some LONG time habits around food that have been very destructive. While today and yesterday weren't the best, I'm hanging in there. I really don't want to give up. I don't want to quit. I am committed to seeing this through. I've done it in other areas of my life, I can do it in this area as well!

Hello All!

I found SP on android as an app, and so far its a great way to track food. I used Weight Watchers Online 3 years ago, and I was very, very happy with their program. However, after gaining my goal weight, I stopped using their program and within the last 2 years I've gained back half of the weight I lost. (Stupid Holiday eating!) So, since my body likes to gain fat, and I like to eat it (mmmmm....bacon!) I have decided to track my caloric intake/output forever, so that I pay attention to my activity/food balance for my lifetime.

I am an avid skier, downhill mountain biker, and martial arts enthusiast. I like soccer and softball as well, but I've been a bit mobile in my living situation so team sports have been hard to commit to the last few years. I began gaining weight back 2 years ago when I had to quit Lau Kune Do Kung Fu due to financial reasons and because I moved 45 miles away from my temple.

So Ladies...I'm committed to maintaining my activity/food balance, seeing my body reshape to my lovely strong muscled self, losing the cellulose on my thighs (if possible!!!) and keeping my health until my body stops.

Good Luck to ALL!

- Rachel

Hi I'm Elizabeth. I just joined last night. A friend told me about this a while ago but I had so much going on in my life at that point that I didn't join. I am currently the heaviest I have ever been and want to lose weight and get in shape. I started a step and strengthen aerobics class in January and am also trying to lower my stress level and exercise more while keeping track of what I am eating. I like that you can keep track of everything on here.

Hi Everyone!
I joined last Wed. and I'm looking to lose 10-12 HARD pounds! I have a tendency to flucuate up and down with my weight and most of my life I've needed to lose 10 pounds. I love the food tracking system. It's a big eye opener for me. I look forward to working with you and not only reaching my goal but maintaining once I'm there!

Hello Spark Friends,

I'm Tina; I'm 44 years old and weigh 186, as of yesterday. Last year, I was diagnosed with hypertension and yes, I smoke also. My two main goals are to become a nonsmoker and lose 50 lbs. I dread having to take any type of medication (over the counter or prescribed). Therefore, I must lose the extra weight and become a nonsmoker. My biggest challenges to my goal are: 1) staying motivated once the weight loss platos; 2) finding foods to prepare that are low in calories and taste great. I have a membership at the gym but as stated lose motivation. Last year, I began changing my eating habits and have put more veggies and fruits into my diet while using herbs to season rather than using salt.

I am learning how to use the site so apologize for not responding to the e-mails that were sent. I look forward to sharing with guys and wish all the best.

Tina

Hi, everyone! Sorry for introducing myself so late... better late than never, I guess?

I just turned 30 last month, and I fully expect my 30's to be the best decade of my life (so far)! I've been married to a great guy for 8 years, and we have two little boys, ages 5 and 3. The little guy is definitely a handful, and I'm trying to deal with that plus losing 12-15 lbs before bathing suit season. Not that I'll EVER be comfortable in a bathing suit, but... well, it's a goal, right?

This is actually my second try at this program- I lost some weight last time, but my health wasn't great and I just didn't have the energy for the exercise- I'm obviously not one of those people who gets a great endorphin rush and tons of energy from regular exercise. Things are better now, though, and I'm back because I know this thing works. I guess three years after the last baby is about time to lose the "baby weight". ;)

Hi everyone! My name Denise! Totally new to SP. Joined mid-week and really like the info and tools. oh and MOTIVATE ME PLEASE (polite way to say "feel free to shake me up and get me going)...LOL I am a stay at home mom of two preschoolers. Trying to set "me" time schedule and boycotting family meals for a bit just until I get going...

Here's my deal, "STRESS" is not my friend and then add preggo weight, and factor in all happening together in a matter of 3 years. I think last year I had to get my head and family in order so I could begin My Journey this year!!!

40 is approaching, genetics = diabetes, cancer, etc....Must lose for the men in my life!!

Sparky buddy wanted :)

Hey everyone! I am new and just stopping in to say hello. I have been dieting all my life and really just wanting to lose the last 20......once and for all! I am a 40-something mom of 2 kids who are 12 and 14. I have a very addictive personality and have fought addictions to various substances for most of my adult life.....food is one of the big ones. I have a handle on all of the others, but still suffer with emotional eating and the occasional binge "just because". I hope to meet some support buddies for mutual support. Happy Saturday!

If you knew of a spectacular mountain that was very very tall, yet climbable. And if it was well-established that from that peak, you could literally see all the love that bathes the world, dance with the angels and party with the gods. Would you curse or celebrate each step you took as you ascended it? Perspectives change everything.

Just bought the books Spark and Suze Orman's new book. I will be 50 in three years and intend to be in great physical and financial shape! I have 25 pounds to lose. Battling a low hemoglobin (no energy) for about 10months which contributed to weight gain. Always very healthy- found during routine physical.

Hello there! Newbie here. Well, kinda!

I'm Anna and I was on SP a couple years back. Lost about 30-40 lbs, got depressed and gained it all back. Hopefully this time I'm back to lose the 100+ I need to lose and keep it off for the rest of my life.

Hi all!
I've also just started on SparkPeople this week. Here's my quick story:
Slightly overweight since I was a little kid.
Lost down to a healthy weight that I liked, then gained most of the weight back.
Repeat several times.
I'm almost back up to my highest weight ever and I'm not okay with that. I want to get back to my healthy weight and stay there.
I hope we can all lose together!

Hi Everyone :) I'm Melyssa ~ aka MDACRN. This is my second time on Spark...but really my first as far as dedication and commitment goes. I'm 35 and at my all time weight max of 310. I work full-time ( Three 12 hr night shifts/week) as a labor & delivery nurse. I'm getting ready to go back to school in May, and know that I need to regain some energy in order to survive and succeed. I've got a few issues I deal with ( Fibromyalgia, Sleep Apnea, Restless Leg Syndrome, Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome to name a few) but that's not my focus. I have tricked myself into thinking that I wasn't acting as a victim for a few years now, but I was just floating. I'm ready to fly again. I'm glad to meet you all! Feel free to "friend" me, send me a note, whatever! I want to be as active and involved here as I can be, to really do this!

Hey all! I'm Jessica and I'm 20. I'm on my last trimester of college and I really would like to get in shape before I head to grad school. I'm taking a year off next year to get a job and get my life together, and a big part of that is learning to eat healthy and take care of myself. This is my second time joining SparkPeople, and this time I'm really committed to making it work. So let's do this!

Hey!
I'm Starr
I'm a 21 year old girl from Iceland
I'm currently 159 cm and ~69 kg (too afraid to step on the scale but I haven't changed much since I last weighed some weeks ago) and my goal is to reach 56 kg before September 1st.

I'm also dealing with depression and a lot of lonliness.
I go to school and I have a part time job, I like to party and hang with friends. Even though I have the best friends in the world I'm ashamed of my weight and depression problems and I'd love to get to know someone from here as a buddy for this challenge I'm gonna take, cause man I need the support!

Hey =) My name is Alli and I am a 25 year old momma of 3. We started our family right away in life and I am just now getting a chance to reclaim myself a bit! I have a demanding job as a third shift direct care worker and probably volunteer myself out a bit too much. i've gotten lost in taking care of everyone else and now I'm getting back to taking care of me before I crash and burn!! I'm really bummed at how much I have gained. I pretty much maintained 260 for months and months after all the kids and somehow at the doctors office I found out I was at 290. Funny part is I had just gotten back into a size 22 jeans!! Lost two pants sizes but my weight went up! No wonder I was clueless!! There are no more excuses though. Bottom line is I need to move my butt A LOT more and give up my nightly binges! Hope to find more motivation and be able to encourage others in this group! Best of luck everyone!!

Hi, i'm a 20 something graduate student. After college, i worked for a few years and i was under a lot of stress b/c i did not know what to do with my life- in 6 years, i gained 60lbs and ballooned to 217lbs. The summer before starting school in 2009, i went oversees. When i saw myself in my pictures i was shocked to see how big i had become and vowed to do something about it once school started. When school started, i distracted myself with work. Last summer i decided to make more of an effort and saw a nutritionist. i lost about 3lbs a month for 4-5 months, but then i hit a wall at 200lbs. She recommended daily exercise but i just don't have the motivation and i was hoping this site could help with that. My fiancee also doesn't help- he likes to keep snacks and sweets in the house. The thinnest i have ever been is a size "8", but i'm hoping by next summer i can be a "4".

Hey! I am a full-time student (graduating with BSN in May) and a full-time nurse, not to mention a full-time mommy to two little boys (9 month old and a 2.5 year old). I did well with my first pregnancy losing all of my weight before #2 pregnancy started, but now I'm ready to lose all the extra weight I've gained since I started dating my husband (7 years ago). I am a firm believer in healthy diet and exercise being successful in our journeys to healthier bodies.

I've noticed that there are a fair number of members that are right around the same starting weight. I find this very helpful and supportive!

Hi my name is Ruth. I am a happily married mother of 4. My goal is to enjoy the summer again- rather than wearing oversized tshirts and jeans. Hopefully by being accountable to someone I will be sucessful. Thanks, I am looking forward to this.

Hello everyone. My name is Joanna and I'm 23 years old turning 24 in June. I'm from a small town in Kentucky. I have struggled with my weight my whole life. Gaining and losing and so on and so on. I am ready to lose the weight for good. I got married going on six years ago and would like to get back down to the weight I was at when I met my husband. As of right now I have no children but that is one of my main reasons for wanting to lose weight. I would like to start trying to conceive by the end of summer.

Hey hey!
My name is Catia or Sall, and I'm from Portugal.
I've been fat all my life, I don't know myself any other way, when I was 14 I used to weight 113kgs..and that's a lot.
Right now, and since last year, I'm in the lightest (lol) fase of my life, but since I'm turning 25 in 4 months my goal is to lose at least 15kgs till there.

Good luck everyone!

Hey Everyone! My name is Kristen. I am 19 years old and just a few months away from 20. I have been overweight pretty much all my life, I don't think I've been in the healthy weight range since probably the 2nd or 3rd grade! Being overweight in my family is pretty much the norm, and I want to fix that for my self now while I am still young, and learn habits that I can pass on to my future children and help to end that cycle. Right now, I am in college and the proverbial 'freshman 15' is just now hitting me in my fourth semester. I am currently taking 18 hours worth of classes and working 20 hours a week along with several other voluntary activities. I am very much a stress eater and so I think that's why I have suddenly gained more weight. Regardless of the reason, being 210 pounds at 19 is not healthy! My goal is make a slow and faithful transition to being healthy so that it will stick! As a gift to myself I want to be back in the middle of my healthy weight range by my 21st birthday.

Hi! I'm Janna and after a recent medical scare that changed the way I think about life, I am ready to make some major life changes and it's going to start with getting to a healthy weight! I have 2 boys ages 2 and almost 4 and they are my life and I want to be around to raise them! A nurse told me about this web site and I'm excited to get started on the road to a thinner, healthier me!

I am Jenifer, I am returning after being away for about a year. I did great when I was here, but then I slipped and let the stress of life get to me. This is the bug hurdle that I have to get through, the emotional aspect of weight gain. I am a work in progress.

Hi. I'm 45 and I want to lose wt and maintain a healthy lifestyle. I'm frustrated with my yo-yo dieting. I want to really commit to doing this time. I always start and stop. My biggest problem is eating on the go. I am now trying to plan what I eat and track those things so that I will no the calorie intake. I had a cup of walnuts this morning and learning that they were a whopping 800 cal. so that wasnt a very smart food choice. I hope this will be a rewarding journey for everyone. Take care. I would love to stay in touch.

Hi,

I'm 28 and have struggled with my weight since high school. I'm trying to get myself down to a healthier weight so my husband and I can maybe start having kids. I'm a stay at home spouse but I also sell mark. cosmetics from home. I'm the mommy to two wonderful dogs.

We don't eat out much and I cook almost everything from organic ingredients but my major problem is that 1) I'm some times lazy 2) I suffer from light sensitively and living in FL it makes it hard for me to be outside in the summer.

My short term goal is to lose 20lb by May 25th for a trip I'm taking with my husband to visit friends and family. My long term goal is to lose 50 more pounds.

Hi! emoticon
I'm 45 and have been thin all my life until I hit 40 and the weight started piling on. I have about 50 pounds to lose and have been having a hard time doing it. I seem to have developed an addiction (?) to carbs and sugar & eat to soothe myself - something I never used to do. I am to the point where I am so uncomfortable & embarrassed around those who knew me when I was thinner. I've got to turn this weight-gaining trend around!

Hi, I am Leslie. I am 22 years old and trying to lose 110-130 lbs. I am starting off with 110 lbs. for now. I am shooting for 2 lbs. a week. It is hard for me to find time to exercise because I am in nursing school and have 2 little ones. My daughter Nevaeh is 5, and Brianna is 4. Nevaeh also has some health problems, so I take her to physical and occupational therapy twice a week. I just signed them up for softball too, which should be fun but time consuming. I graduate nursing school in April, and I feel like if I can't save my own life, I can't save anyone elses. I will be an LPN, and vow to be at a normal weight by the time I get my RN degree. I also plan on going further in school to become a Nurse Practitioner. I am looking forward to making new friends to lose weight with and support each other.

Progress is a Slow Process!!

I am one of the yo-yo dieters all my life. Always thinking I ate right because I prepare my own food and don't eat process food. Well, I was just kidding myself which I discoverd when I joined SP and started tracking my food and studying the nutrition reports. Wow. Now I know what I eat and I was able to slim down very easily with the right foods and walking every day along with good ole strength training.
My weight loss journey was a road to good health for me. I wish the same for everyone here.
