Hi all, New to SparkPeople just one week. I'm 51, happily married, have 3 cats. Decided to get back on track with diet and exercise now rather than June 1 when I pull my shorts out of the dresser drawer and realize I can't wear them!
So far I've done a much better job of watching what I eat and I'm learning to "trade out" certain food items so I have lower fat content on my plate and still get a treat! I've managed to put 4.5 miles on a treadmill this week. I all ready feel better and I all ready put my thumb in my waist band and feel a little bit of room! Yay!
I hope to post before and after pics sometime soon.

Hey everyone.. I'm Shawna.. Little about myself.. I'm 25 have a 3 year old son and fiance in the army (currently deployed). When I got pregnant I weighed 98 lbs. On the low side of my weight range. Well during the first 4 months I lost down to 76 (I was constantly throwing up). After that 16th week though I just started putting on weight. Went all the way to 177 on the day I checked into the hospital to have him. When I left the hospital 4 days later I weighed 135. I felt good. Well post partum depression, bipolar, and OCD diagnosis later with medications I just kept packing on weight. I've had 1 heart attack, currently on toporol to control arrythmia. I'm now 213 lbs. I don't like seeing my doctor and him telling me I'm obese. I could handle it when I was just overweight but now its OBESE. He told me that if I wanted to live that I had to lose the weight. Major wake up call for me. I put my son with my parents which was really hard but I needed the time to concentrate on just me and get me better before I can even think about caring for another. It terrified him when I had the heart attack. So looking to get back into shape so I can live for my baby. I'm walking at least a mile 5 days a week. Just got an exercise ball to work my core. I'm gonna do this. I have to do this. Nobody wants to die before they've had the chance to live and I wanna see granbabies!! If anyone wants to message me, feel free. I will offer support, motivation, and even just a sounding board on those days where nothing went the way it was supposed to.. Chins up.. WE ALL WILL MEET OUR GOALS WITH THE RIGHT TOOLS IN PLACE!!

Hello... I'm Collien ~ I am stepping out and introducing myself after a week of "lurking". I tend to be a "lurker" rather than a joiner. I'm trying to change that so I can be more successful in meeting my goals.
I'm still getting my "sea legs" on the Spark site... there is soooo much good stuff that I can't get to it or learn it all in a day... it's rather overwhelming. I'm looking to take it a bite at a time. I'll do the bites on SparkPeople rather than food, that should help me lose weight.
I'm 69 and have been on a diet most of my life of one type or another. I'm close to the heaviest I've been and since I've been a yoyo dieter and am older, I'm having a *really* hard time losing weight. I've found that I *have* to make sure I eat enough food or I'll gain weight! It's a real balancing act... Thanx for being here and may each of you reach your most treasured goals!!!

My name is Jessica. I just had a baby on Christmas and am back to work. Although I am back down to my pre pregnancy weight I still weigh more than I am comfortable with. I have a sit down job that I started 3 years ago and have gained about 10 lbs just from that and quitting smoking. I haven't smoked for almost 2 years now. Before I got pregnant I was just starting to get the hang of exercising and eating right and now I am struggling to get back to that point. It will come easier when the weather warms up I think. Looking forward to meeting new people and adopting a healthier lifestyle!!

Hi my name is Nicole, and I have never been on Spark before, but I had heard of it from a few people. I just never checked it out until now. It seems like it will be a great place to find motivation. I have been overweight ever since I had my kids, I was skinny before, but could never lose all the weight. Every year I would say before my birthday or before this or that I will lose weight and never put down solid goals. This year I have decided enough is enough and have put down goals on paper, signed up here and bought myself an elliptical which will be delivered next week! I am looking forward to the weight loss and yes a little scared, but I can do it.

My name is Abi and I turned 40 last week so it was reality check time! I bought "The Spark" a while ago but it's been sitting on the shelves while we moved house and I read my book club books instead. I'm really enjoying the book and really identified with the idea of setting real goals and not just getting up, working, eating, sleeping, getting up, working, eating, sleeping for the rest of my life.
I'm living in beautiful British Columbia, Canada. I'm originally English, moved to Australia, moved to Canada, moved back to Australia and then moved back to Canada again! I have two beautiful girls aged 4 and 2 and want them to grow up healthy - and not have the weight issues I've had my entire life. My mum has premature dementia, caused through her type 2 diabetes and at 66, lives in a nursing home and doesn't recognise her nearly 90 year old mother who visits her daughter in an old people's home. I don't want the same to happen to me.
I have lots to lose, I lost half of what I want to lose on Weight Watchers but gained it all back over the past year and I'm at my heaviest again.
I want to be fit and enjoy playing outside with my kids.
I also want to be a novelist. I have to plan how I'm going to reach that goal and take steps to really make it happen.
Although I am yet to start the healthy eating program, I have set my mini goals of drinking 8 glasses of water a day and doing something outside every day. I have ordered the two fitness DVDs (the 10 minutes a day I can probably manage before everyone gets up in the morning) and will be planning my healthy eating program on Sunday when I have enough time to sit down and plan properly.

Hello, My name is Carol. My work is doing a 'Biggest Winner' weight loss challenge. I felt this is a wonderful opportunely to kick start my diet that has been on hold for 2 years. I had lost 70 pounds in the past and kept it off but not yet at the weight I want to be. I have used SparkPeople in the past and its a great site. Looking forward to getting a diet buddy and loosing pounds!

Hello! My name is Teresa. I am really hoping that the support from this site gives me the boost I need to keep with my new lifestyle change. I lost 50 lbs 6 years ago and was on cloud 9. Two years ago I had 2 major back surgeries in 6 months. I gained about 20 lbs back. I started to exercise and eat healthy and then tore a ligament in my foot. That put me in a non-walking cast for 12 weeks. I gained 30 more pounds. So now I am determined to lose this weight and get my life back. I am married to a wonderful man and have 3 amazing kids. So I am here to get support and to give it to anyone who needs it. Wishing everyone the best on their weight loss journey!

Hey all!! So glad to be here. A friend of mine joined this week, and curious about what she was doing, I checked it out and here I am!! In high school I was a very active person with good muscle tone, but as I get older, I find that staying active and eating healthy is harder. I also have issues with my hormones, so at one point gained almost 40 pounds in three months!! I've lost 30 of that in the past, and gained back 25, but I'm ready to lose it again. More than anything, I'm looking forward to changing to a healthy lifestyle instead of dieting and then maintaining.

Hi Everyone. My name is Carol and I'm back on SparkPeople after 5 years. Originally I lost 50 pounds here, met some terrific people and kept the weight off for about 3 years. Then I retired and found that I wasn't eating properly ~ splurging on foods that were not healthy and ended up gaining all of the weight back ~ Dang!! Anyway I have started the Advocare 24 day challenge with my daughter and sister with the hope that by feeding my body the nutrients that it needs will help me to stop the cravings and get my focus back on being healthy.

I everyone, my name's Shannon. I'm only 20 and have over a 100lbs to lose. How scary is that? Pretty scary. I feel like I've been fat for a long time and have tried losing weight only to gain it back and even more. I'm addicted to food and trying to break that addiction and lose weight and be HEALTHY! Hi there - my name is Kristen, from Maryland, single mom. Just heard about this site yesterday and thought I'd give it a shot. I have never been overweight, always very athletic and active, was in the military for 9 years and even lost all of my baby weight (and then some) after my son was born. Unfortunately, the divorce is what did me in and a brutal wake up call into single motherhood added a good 30lbs in about a year! :( I love running and usually get in 2-4 miles a day. I eat relatively healthy and I'm very active with my son. But since Jan 1st, I haven't lost an ounce! I've stayed the same weight since January 1st! So...something's gotta give!! Here's hoping this website can provide me some of the tools and tips I need to redirect my life and get it back on track!! Good luck to all (and congrats to those who have already lost weight!!)

Hi I am very new to Spark. I discovered the site by pure chance and so far think it is great. I need to lose much weight but have decided to set smaller goals as I go. OK a bit about myself. I am a Pom who became an Aussie. I live in the 'burbs of Perth Western Australia. I am 56 with 1 grown daughter but as yet no grandies. I've been on here before but I have a problem with sticking with things, ESPECIALLY dieting. Seems like a lot of people have that problem though so I don't feel too, too bad about it.
My New Year's Resolution was to find things that make me happy. I don't feel too happy when I am out of shape, tired, dehydrated, full of caffeine, etc. That's why I joined again. And because I keep gaining weight!
I need a lifestyle makeover and today is the first day of that. Good luck everyone and I can't wait to meet you!

ugh...here I am again for the umpteenth time to try and lose weight...my problem is sticking with it, I always give up at about the 25 pound mark, dont' know why I do, but this time I hope to keep going and not give up. I have my favorite cardio machine at home now, the elliptical... bought it off a neighbor... and hope it works out!

Hi, not really new have tried this before. This time I am more ready than ever. I am looking to tone my body and start eating the way I should. I have crazy eating habits, no disorders. I just eat too much of certain food and not enough balance. I want to show my child and future children to eat balanced. I want to be a good role model. Hi Everyone! My name is Mary, I'm one of the leaders for this class. I'm excited to be here showing you the ropes and answering questions. Here is a little bit about me.
I've been a member of SparkPeople for a few years. I have 2 wonderful daughters (age 1 and 2) and I have one of the most supportive husbands ever! My husband is currently deployed, so I decided to become a stay at home mother, and I'm currently working on my Masters degree in Industrial and Organizational Psychology. One of my goals is to lose 60 pounds before my husband returns near the end of the year and I'm already 15 pounds down! I love to go geocaching, which gives me a great outdoor activity to do. I also love to read, crochet, cross stitch and laugh. Some of my other goals that Spark is helping me achieve is to become a Life Coach and to move out in the country.
I love to blog so feel free to check out my spark page to see what's going on with me. I like to write about my progress and what is working and what isn't. I also like to write about my successes and the things I feel are holding me back.
