Hey Joanna,

Have you noticed the topic on this team page titled Buddy System? Each month BugQueen90 assigns "buddies" to those who wish to participate. We check each others nutrition and fitness trackers, and help to motivate each other. It's working wonderfully for me. Also, come to the daily chat page. Everyone there is supportive, and can relate to what you're going through.

Without struggle there is no progress.

Hi Joanna,

First, congratulations on being ready to change your lifestyle - that's a huge step to make and you should be proud of yourself!

The whole Spark strategy is about little changes that become habits and they all add up to a healthier you. So start small - something like aiming to do 10 minutes of exercise 3x a week, drinking 8 cups of water a day for a week, tracking all your food (every little bit!!) everyday for a week. I also like to throw in something really positive like listening to an upbeat positive song every day or looking in the mirror and saying something that I like about myself.

Also, have you written down your goals? I have written mine down and have them on display in my bedroom. When I feel don't feel like exercising or I want to eat fatty food (which happens often - I haven't caught the exercise bug yet!) I look at them to remind myself of my goals and re-motivate myself.

I hope some of this helps. I feel like I am just learning myself and it really is a journey rather than an immediate change. So be kind to yourself! And good on you for reaching out into Sparkland - there are so many motivating people out here.

Hello Everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My name is Joanna and im a new spark team member ready to change my life. my only problem, i get discouraged easily. i have a weight problem and it is very difficult for me to stay focused on eating healthy. i tend to give up a week after dieting when i dont see the scale going down. i turn to fast food when i get discouraged and it just comforts me.. i need to change my thinking towards food.. i love food.. can you please give me some advice on eating healthy and to lose weight. im so tired of feeling bad about myself and wasting my life in doors because im fat.. please help......
