Welcome to the team :) I'm just like Maria and have a very, very hard time not eating after dinner. I've also lost weight and regained it a few times in my life. I think tracking all of the food intake each day is key - whenever I stop doing it, I gain weight back. Spending time on this site helps keep me focused too. Thank you for your words of encouragement. You expressed exactly how I feel and what I've been doing. It is important to be present and thinking when we eat. Writing it down does make you stop and think. Thanks.
I have done this too many times myself. I get very discouraged when I fall back to the same bad habits. I am guilty of "mindless" eating, especially in the evenings. I just eat all evening, not even really tasting much of what I eat, and it really adds up. Then, I lay in bed unable to sleep b/c I feel too full and anxious and mad at myself. Some night I feel I am going to die, and in a way, I am slowly killing myself. I have made a decision to hold myself ACCOUNTABLE from here on out--even if I decice to eat whatever, I am going to write it down and at least think about it, and ask myself why I am eating this, and what could I do instead? Could I eat a healthier item if I am truly hungry, or could I substitute an activity that is NOT eating, such as a 10 minute walk on the treadmill! I know I can take this small step, and I know it is the FIRST step in this long journey. I know many people that have done it and I can do it too--and so can you!
