Thanks for the words of encouragement, Meri.

I think the nutrition tracker alone will be good for helping me behave better. But it's only my first week, so we'll see how long I last. So far so good.

Hi, Lex - SparkPeople can be a great motivator to get us going - lots of helpful tips and useful trackers. If you make small changes, they're easier to tolerate. Instead of saying "tomorrow, I'll run 2 miles" (when you're really out of shape), say "tomorrow, I'll walk around the neighborhood; next week I'll jog 5 blocks", etc.

There are lot's of motivational quotes here - like "fall down 7 times, get up 8" "One step backward, two forward" They acknowledge that we will make mistakes, but the important part is to not quit.

I guess I'm trying this as a huge motivator to change how I live. Almost everyday I say I'm going to do better, but I never really act. So, this is day 1.

I hope to meet some nice folks along the way and maybe together we can get healthy.

Good luck and don't be afraid to say hello.
