I don't remember what originally got me to join in 2011, and it really didn't work for me as a resource. I got back into it and stuck with it from a quest on SuperBetter

5. What are you most excited about?
Since January, I have lost 10 pounds. Being that I have tried off and on to lose weight for 6 years with no more than a 2-3 lb fluctuation, I'm pretty thrilled with the consistent downward trend.

6. Share one thing about yourself that you would like your fellow team members to know about you.
I haven't done any good ones recently, but I like to do "extreme knitting".....finding a strange location or activity to knit in

Hello all,

I first joined SparkPeople last year and then just kind of got off track and didn't use it any more. As a result I gained some weight back, I think around 20 lbs, and just wasn't happy with how I felt either mentally or physically. So now I'm back trying to use all the resources available to me so I can suceed in becoming heathy and able to live more of life.

Hello My Name is Annalynn. I am a 20 year old Junior College student. Over the past two years I went from Very active (water polo, swimming, Volleyball) high school student, to a secretary, classes at night college student. And on top of all that I recently found out I have PCOS. So basically over the past two years I went from a 140 to a 200. From growing up in an overweight family I always felt large, even when I wasn't. I am joining this sight to get down to 170 someday but for right now I just want to lose 15 pounds (So far i've lost 2 haha). I feel like it's a constant weight gain and I need to nip it in the bud. Feel free to add me as a friend and we can keep this up together.

3. Where are you from? Tennessee gal with a 7 year stint in Baltimore, now in East Texas.
4. What motivated you to join SP? I saw it mentioned in a different forum when I was looking for the "old" Weight Watcher's exchanges, then looked it up. LOVED the tracker online, so joined.
5. What are you most excited about? Feeling, moving, and looking like a vibrant mid-50 gal -- rather than ancient and frumpy -- and able to handle the IDPA competitions with my husband.
6. What are you most scared/nervous about? Relapsing and rejoining the yo-yo cycle -- which has been my life-long pattern, though the "up" and "down" periods tend to last for several years at a time.
7. Share one thing about yourself that you would like your fellow team members to know about you. I am consistently inconsistent :( That is a killer for healthy eating and living. I've lost 40 pounds so far, and have 40 more to go. My husband has reached his goal, so I thought it was time to find other folks still striving to reach similar goals. And I have yet to add in the exercise component -- and know that I MUST in order to become strong and fit. Thanks!

4. What motivated you to join SP? I was on here before, lost a lot of weight, and then gained it all back after about a year of maintaining. I'm ready to do it right this time, and master the art of maintenance.


5. What are you most excited about? Becoming fit enough to ride my bike to the beach (100 miles).

6. What are you most scared/nervous about? Falling off the wagon for good, or for a long period of time: Not being able to maintain once I get there.

7. Share one thing about yourself that you would like your fellow team members to know about you: I love bicycling and I am too fat to do that right now. Once I get in shape and lose a few pounds, I am going to go back to riding to and from work every day (16 miles round trip.)

HI first time on the message boards:

A bit nervous about doing the message thing. big time intravert/ private person so please call me my SP name or OHM (for short)
37 years old. I am from Canada. Joined because I know what to do but weight loss is slow and I read those who track things/ journal loose 2x the weight. I am excited to get my life back and be active with my three children (7,4 and 7 months). I am scared that my daughter (4 year old) will be obese... she is at the 97% for her age.

About 2 weeks into my latest attempt at weight loss, my cousin recommended that I check out SparkPeople. Since then, this has become a new lifestyle instead of just a weight loss journey. I absolutely love SparkPeople and am so grateful to my cousin for introducing me to it!

5. What are you most excited about?

Being a healthy, happy person and having more energy, which has already started to happen. I, also, can't wait to do many things that I used to love like, playing basketball, tennis, riding rollercoasters, and swimming. I'm looking forward to trying new things, too, such as ziplining, skiing, hiking, and running.

6. What are you most scared/nervous about?

I'm scared to end up like my dad and have a heart attack at age 42. I'm also afraid of becoming diabetic, like my dad and my mom's mom. I have a lot of family health issues on both sides of my family that I want to avoid.

I am surrounded by awesome people that I love, but would really like to meet more people on here to go on this journey with me. My dog, Hemi, is like my baby and has helped me through the last few years, which were pretty hard. I have an amazing mom, who is my best friend. My brother and I have always been really close, but he's moving to Oregon in June, and I'm worried about how missing him will affect my healthy lifestyle. I, also, have 4 amazing friends who are each different and incredible in their own ways. They are like the sisters I never had. I feel very blessed to have all of these people in my life, but am always looking to meet new friends, too.

Hi, I'm Leah. I am 23 years old and I have about 15-20lbs left to lose. I started losing weight about four years ago. I lost a little over 40lbs and have kept it off for almost three years. Hi everyone!

I'm Katie, I'm 25 (soon to be 26) and on a mission to lose 50 pounds this year. At my heaviest I was 190 and currently am at 179. I'm a pharmacist for a retail grocery chain so I spend all day on my feet, being puled in 10 directions at once, often times not having time to eat an acutal meal so when I get home at 10pm I eat crap all night until I go to bed. I'm hoping this site will help motivate me to make better food choices and get my butt to the gym!

Hi all! I'm Janice and on day 20 with SparkPeople. I'm 41 and married with 2 kids. I surrendered to my indulgences during my 30s and am now focused on living a healthier lifestyle in my 40s and beyond. I am Anne and I am a 34 year old mother of 3. I am trying to stick with a workout program paired with healthy eating. My goal is to lose 38 pounds and things are going well so far. I like to workout, but usually run into sore knees and then when I take it easy, I totally fall off the workout wagon and all my efforts go to waste. Once I stop working out, I tend to eat more, promising myself I'll get back to it tomorrow, then the next day, or the next.... I just really want to stay motivated and gain some real headway, and bring others along with me through Spark!

Hi All,
I thought I added my introduction to this team, but do not see it, so here I am. :) I'm on day 18 of my SPARKPeople membership.
I live in California (a native daughter) and am 57 years old. Also still trying to lose the same 15 pounds from last year and the year before. Thanks in advance for all the good info and moral support. Can anyone tell me how to add a photo to the box with my user name on the left? I'm new to message boards.

I think I covered all the intro questions. Other than being less savvy technically (ironically I work in IT, but security, not the techie stuff) something about me is I am beginning to make my own wine - have loved tasting and learning about it for years.

I used another site once before, then took the Dr. Oz challenge and tried his site. I hated it so I did a google search and started checking out different sites. This is the one I liked the best and now that I am using it I love it.

5. What are you most excited about?

Keeping up with my husband and kids on family hikes and feeling better about myself when I look in the mirror. I love my husbands body and want him to feel the same about mine.

6. What are you most scared/nervous about?

Failing again. I have been down this road two many times to count and end back at the place or higher on the scale.

6. Share one thing about yourself that you would like your fellow team members to know about you.

I love Jesus and my family more than anything. I have the best husband in the world and my kids ages 11 and 13 are amazing. I love to read, do stuff on the computer, be outdoors enjoying Gods great world. I love animals, have a dog and a cat. I would have a zoo if I could afford it.

~My husband and I fostered 2 pomeranians who had been captured from a puppy mill. We then adopted them one Christmas. Their names are Prancer & Vixen.

It is a new year and I will turn 50 in September. I used Spark last year to drop 10 pounds for my son's wedding and told everyone how great the site was. Then after the wedding I seemed to stop Sparking. I really want to do this for my health before turning 50.
5. What r u most excited about?
Feeling better and looking better in clothes this spring and summer. I am also excited about support from fellow sparkers.
6. What r u most scared/nervous about?
That I will be successful and then become slack and not continue on this journey. I have a pattern of losing 10-20 and then stopping.
7. Share one thing about urself that u would like your fellow team members to know about you.
I am the mother of 3 children. My son is married and I have a daughter that will probably soon be getting married. My baby is 16 and starting to look at colleges. I am a little anxious about all the things to deal with her senior year next year and her leaving to go away to college. I spend a lot of time on the road with my daughter as she attends a performing arts high school.

My belly! lol. I actually do a Youtube weightloss vlog and some of my youtube and facebook friends mentioned this site.

Being as sexy on the outside as I am on the inside! lol

Failure. Public humiliation. Letting my family down. Letting myslef down. Quiting. That's a horrible question. Get rid of that one! lol

I am mom to 3 kids and 3 dogs. My kids are 1,8, and 12 (almost 13). When I was younger (and pretty thin) I used to go to family get togethers and I would feel sad for my mother and her sisters cuz they were all so overweight. I am now bigger than all of them. :(
oh! And I am married...cant forget that guy. lol. Been married for almost 9yrs.

I am blessed to have two healthy, happy children and a wonderful partner and they keep me motivated. I stopped smoking 3 years ago because it is important to me that my children know what is healthy and what is harmful. They are fabulous!

My wife. She's been here a few years now and
it's working for her.Also, I'm retired now so I
Have more time on my hands. I'm 5'2" and around
180lbs. That's what I weighed 25 yrs ago and
there has been some increases in my weight over
the years, I think the most I weighed was 213.
Back then I never owned a scale. According to
national guidelines say I should be between 115
and 136lbs.I'm not looking for miracles so I
figured getting down to a 145lbs would be a
reasonable target. I also know there's no quick
fix to this stuff, so as they say, patience is a
virtue.


5. What are you most excited about?

Waking up every day, everything else is a bonus.


6. What are you most scared/nervous about?

Being a diabetic, I'd say everything associated
with it, up to and including death. Life can be
like a poker game but it's no fun when the wild
card is running around inside you.

These boxes are never big enough lol. I've
been told I have a sense of humor, I love to
make people laugh. if I can bring a smile to
someones face, it's a good day.

4. I joined SP because I'll be looking for archaeology jobs soon and I need to be fit if I want to get hired and be good at the job.

5. I am most excited about learning to love exercise!

6. I am most nervous that I won't follow through. Luckily there's a lot riding on this change so there's a lot of incentive to do well.

7. One thing that I would like to my SP team members to know about me? I guess that one of my goals is to run a 5K. I've probably only run three miles in my whole life, so working up to run three miles at one time is kind of exciting :D.

Last year, I tried Spark but didn't believe in myself and although I visited the site didn't participate nor was ready to lose the weight.

5. What are you most excited about?
Acceptance has allowed me to overcome the emotional ties to what stood in my way of tackling my weight issues and I'm looking forward to it.

6. What are you most scared/nervous about?
That my health will become such an obstacle that I will allow it to be my excuse to indulge and/or that I will have to use the wheelchair more thus making me less mobile.

I was diagnosed with CRPS (RSD), in 2002; for me, this isn't just a weight loss journey, but a journey that allows me to learn how to be the woman who HAS health issues instead of who IS her health issues.

I've been so motivated to lose weight and haven't really done much with it, so I needed an extra push. I think this will hold me accountable.

Having the support here that I don't have at home.

That the negativity at home will cause me to self destruct like it always does. Or that I will go all out and overboard and then get hurt and have to stop and lose motivation.

I recently joined a kickboxing gym and am loving every single minute of it. It's so much fun. The problem is that it's more toning that weight loss, so I really need to focus on the eating side of things to drop the weight. I used to be a runner, but I have a knee injury and can't do that anymore. Despite the weight, I am really loving life right now and just want to lose the weight to be healthier and even happier!

Gained a lot of weight when I spent the holidays at my parents' place. I lost quite a bit of it through walking, eating right, and (unfortunately) an illness that caused me to lose 15 lbs in a week that I (fortunately) never put back on. I heard about SP from a friend and decided to give it a try.

5. What are you most excited about?
Shrinking my waistline and walking more as the weather improves.

I don't want to lose my curves.

I graduated high school when I was seventeen and I now go to school in a different state from where my family is. We're 100% sure that we want to get married, but we want to do things right so we're waiting until I get my associate's degree.

I first heard about it on a message board, probably 2 years ago or so. I finally decided I'm tired of being this way, and here I am again!

I'm excited that I'm finally ready. This isn't a diet, it's not a punishment... I'm ready to change.

I am scared about getting weak. We all know it happens at some point... you fall off the wagon, feel like giving up... I know it's out there somewhere, waiting for me to let my guard down! I just don't want to fail this time. My life could literally depend on it.

4. I bought a magazine that was all about SparkPeople. I loved the articles and recipes so I decided to look into the website. I Love It!

5. I'm excited to lose the weight and finally maintain it. I'm really good at losing weight, it's keeping it off that I'm bad at. I'm hoping this website will keep me motivated to keep it off.

6. Like everyone else I'm scared to fail - not of losing the weight but of keeping it off.

7. Before I had joined this website I had already lost 6 pounds. I have 11 to go to reach my goal. I know my goal weight of 103 seems really low but I am only 4'11" and I'm very petite. 103 is a perfect weight for me.

My wife recently joined a gym and I wanted to do something to improve my health as well.

I'm excited that in 10 months, I'm going to be in the best shape of my life.

I'm afraid of losing motivation.

I'm interested in martial arts. Once I lose some weight I hope to start training in jiu-jitsu or maybe boxing.

Motivation: I need to lose about 60 pounds and can't do it without some help. DH is having to eat many foods i cannot lose with due to his health status, so really have to get on the ball here and try and sub some stuff, or re-arrange some things

Most excited about: Having a new granddaughter after 19 years since the last one.

other than that, nothing really, am still trying to adjust to having to be retired and a caregiver, so losing the weight will be something to be excited about.

Nervous about. Losing motivation to get this off me, and it has to come off.

I love to find new things to do, am creative, and love animals.

I've lost 60lbs on my own over the last year and a half but been stalled (no gain though!) for the last 6 months and it's annoying.

4. What motivated you to join SP? I had an account I started a few years ago. I recently rejoined because I feel like my old account wasnt me any more, and I figured I really needed a change. But I've rejoined to get healthier and to lose weight (aprox 50+ lbs)

6. What are you most scared/nervous about? I'm scared I'll get to a point where I'll make excuses to stop working out or to eat junk again. I do it alot when I start a workout program even if I've been doing really good soemthing always seems to make me stop and I don't want to just stop.
