I set a goal of getting down to 150 by next Jan. 5th, which would be 67 pounds to lose, and I've already lost TEN since joining on Jan. 5th! I'd like to continue to lose on down to 130 [I'm only 5'2"]. I'm not good at setting goals, so it was hard for me to figure if 67 pounds in a year was reasonable, but now I think it is.

DO SOMETHING - Something is better than nothing!

My goal is to finally reach my healthy weight goal this year. Last year I pledged to be healthier and I was able, through exercise and nutrition, to put all my borderline numbers into the healthy range. All but the weight! I intend to finish writing a first novel this year. I intend to find another job, I was laid off from my last one. In a nutshell, I guess I plan to reach my potential this year! Good luck everybody!

This year I want to get off my medications. I take blood pressure meds and Nexium. They are considering high cholesterol meds as well. I am only 36, and I dont want to be on medication for the rest of my life. Also, I have 3 children and I want to teach them what I wasnt taught and that is how to be healthy adults. It's easy to stay trim when you are a kid and play sports or whatever, but that doesn't necessarily mean you are healthy.

Do what you like because those who matter don't mind and those who mind don't matter.

Well I've been with SP for just over a month now and love it. I've lost 12 lbs since 1-2-11, am fitting into some clothes that have just hung in my closet for a LONG while and by in large (except for the cold I picked up last week emoticon ) feel so much better and energitic.
Yesterday was the first time I cheated - and I cheated a lot! I live in WI and the Packers are a HUGE deal here and I'm a sports freak so when my family & I ended up at some friends for a Superbowl party I caved. I did not drink anything besides water but nibbled on most of the snacks. Some of them were healthy but of course most were not. Why am I telling you this? Because today I feel great and it's because it is the first time I've ever I woken up after a night like that and was excited to get right back to it! I really like eating healthier and working out. I feel like I enjoyed the event, Had little tastes of things and now I'm ready to go back to the lifestyle I've learned & embraced over the past month. This is big for me as in the past I would take on a negative attitude, beat myself up and go back to my old ways. Not this time!!!! Thank you SP and everyone on it!!!! emoticon

Hello everyone, my name is Ronda and I live in Northwest Ohio. I joined SP a long time ago but never came back until Jan 2011 so I'm setting that as my starting date. I am happily married with two grown girls. I enjoy with my life except for my weight. issues. I set my goal for weight lose at 100 pounds by the end of the year. (do you think that is unreasonable?) I am determined to do this so I don't want to set it too high and be setting myself up for failure. I love tracking what I eat because it makes me think before I put something in my mouth. Look forward to getting to know you all and helping eachother down this long path to a healthier lifestyle.

Thanks Faye for those encouraging words. So often we forget the things that we have accomplished or we beat ourselves for what we think we should have accomplished. Although I haven't committed to a "real" exercise routine- I have committed to a better way of eating for close to a month. This is the longest that I have ever stuck to eating healthier. Thanks again.

I think for me, my goal is to work out more. I've really focused on my eating habits and tracking food, and have tried hard to eat healthier. I think now is the time for me to increase my weekly workouts. I have a college reunion coming up, and I'd love to lose this weight by then!!

This year I want to lose most my weight, take a least two roadtrips, expand my hikes to 6 miles and learn how to eat within the required portions. I think I want to buy a bike too and bike ride with my young son for fun.

My goals for 2011-

1) lose at least 30-35 lbs (I want to get back into my old jeans). I want to do it the healthy way, a way that inspires other women
2) find exercises/activities that I enjoy
3) learn Spanish. I started off strong but haven't been practicing lately.
4) get a promotion at work

My first goal is to become healthier & have more energy. To accomplish this I am tracking my meals, snacks & workouts. I'm working out right after breakfast every morning. I'm cutting down on eating out. This way I will eat healthier & also save money. My 2nd goal is to increase my savings. I'm doing this by making monthly "payments" to our savings account. Also, by not charging anything. Cash only!! I'm working on making "Conscious" purchases rather than "Impulse" purchases.

Good luck to everyone on whatever you plan to achieve. Stick with it....you can do it!

Hello, My goal for this year is to loose 40 lbs. I have been a yo you dieter most of my adult life. Now I think it is time for me to change that. This year, I want to reach my goal weight of 135. I was 30 pounds lighter than that when I was in college, and through most of my 20's. But I am 55 years old now and have had 2 kids. At 5'6, I was always alittle on the thin side back then, so I'm being more realistic. Well hey...if I get to 135 and want to lose more, I can always take it from there. At least I know I can do this time.

I've been very blessed in my life and want to give something back through participating in 5 and 10K charity walks...and eventually, runs. So, I have at least 4 already in mind this year.

I'll get ready for those and bring my weight down, gradually, and in a healthy way, through the following:
tracking all my food, daily, on SP
eating more fruits and veggies
drinking my water
going to the gym no less than 3X/week
packing lunch for work instead of buying

Good luck to everyone in 2011! Let's cheer eachother on to victory!

I am little slow at checking the team message boards, but here are my goals for the year.

Lose around 20 pounds. I want to feel good about myself when I look at myself naked in the mirror:) I am aiming to lose the weight by the end of May as I have a wedding that I am in. Toning up my upper body would also be a plus.

I am hoping to make exercise fun and begin exercising on a regular basis. Right now I can last about 15 minutes, I hope to get it up to an hour.

I am learning to eat healthier, mainly by adding in some more fruits and veggies and eating smaller portions.

I am working on my Master's degree in Library Science, so I am hoping to develop better study habits this year. I am trying the Google Calendar feature to map out my readings day by day.

My goals this year is to fit into a size 6. Currently I am a size 12. Not really worried about pounds just inches. My favorite exercise is ZUMBA. So I will be doing Zumba and going to the gym to loose the weight. I do the best by giving up bread and sugar. Good luck to everyone and I hope we all make are goals!!! emoticon

My goal this year is to get back to a comfortable weight while focusing on a healthy lifestyle. I'm at 155 today and my goal weight is 135. I'd like to be close to 135 by March 18th as that is the day we are leaving for a family trip. I want to lose weight so I feel better about myself and have more energy. Hi My name lisa, I joined this team because, I love to walk/run. My fav is running, but it bothers my knee's really bad, so now I take my time and walk with an run in between. I love it, I feel so good after a good walk/run. After losing more weight, I will try the running again. maybe the extra weight on my knee's is the problem. Thanks for having me. Hi everyone! I'm Terrie. Turned 50 this past year and got married! Who said life gets worse as you get older? I think I'd like my goals to focus less on the scale and more on becoming the best I can be by eating healthy and exercising some every day. I know the weight will come off soon enough. It will take time. I've learned many thing over the years with my weight going up and down and that is the most important thing...I must move myself and think about what I'm putting in my system. When I eat bad, I actually feel bad! Don't I deserve to feel my best each and every day? Just loving all the recipes and videos here on Sparkpeople!

I'm 23 years old and I have been between 15-30lbs over weight my entire life!!
My goal this year is to loose ALL my extra weight and tone my body.
I want to be halfway to my gaol (15lbs) by March 23rd this year! MY BIRTHDAY!! :)
That's my mini goal..when i achieve that i will be so happy and excited that there's no way i won't lose the rest of the weight! (notice how i said WHEN i reach my goal!) emoticon

Ultimately I want to loose 40 lbs and tone up by June 1st 2011. But I found that I have to have daily goals to stay on the wagon! Also I signed up for my first 5k run in March! I'm excited and that alone has motivated me to make sure that I get on that treadmill everyday!!

New to SparkPeople. Very excited for changes in my life! My goal for 2011 is to lose over 50 pounds. I am aiming at short-term goals to achieve this. My first goal is to drink 64 oz. of water per day. My second goal is to do an activity for AT LEAST 10 minutes everyday. On top of that, I want to start using my eliptical starting very small and gradually working my way up.

Hi Everyone! I am new to Sparkpeople, and so far I LOVE it. My goals for this year are:

Hi everyone. Glad to be on board. It's cool that my wife and I joined at the same time, so we are in the same entering class...

My goal is to drop 30 pounds. I'm very realistic about this and I'm going to go slowly so I can sustain the program. If I hit 20 pounds less, I'll be really happy as I think that is a sustainable weight. 30 pounds is my stretch. According to the BMI charts I should drop more than that, but I just don't think that's realistic.

This site is great - I like the feedback on a daily basis on food and nutrition. It really helps me understand the impact of food choices. I'm also getting into the fitness part also.

In all, there is so much information it is taking me a while to understand even what's here.



I am in the MST Time zone

Hi. I'm new to this whole thing and hope I can get the inspiration I need to make some big changes in my life. My goals for 2011 are:

1) Exersize at least 3 days/week on my Wii or some other way.
2) Read scriptures and pray with my husband daily.
3) Go to bed around 10pm every night (I've done poorly at this already).

I also hope to have another baby this year, so I'll be working on that, too. :)

Hi, my name is Desiree'. I'm not new to Sparks, but have rejoined after being MIA for over a couple of years. In July of 2006 I decided to make a change of life plan and did pretty well. In a 1 1/2 years I took off 120 extra lbs. Through a few health issues through the past year I quit exercising or eating right. I am now trying to get back on track. I only need to lose 30~35 pounds, but have struggled with that last bit of weight for too long now. My cholesterol is up once again and I know to exercise will take it right down. I need to be around for my childen, so it's important that I don't start down the road of destruction because of feeling defeated. I need alot of support, I just don't have it at home or with friends.

Hi I am new to Spark a friend told me about it. I have been struggling for a long time to achieve my proper weight. Its a battle I engage in everyday. I think about food 85% of my day. Always trying to figure out how much I have eaten today while also trying to figure out what i will eat tomorrow. I dont want to food to consume so much of my day..life is far too short and I want to be healthy.

My goals for 2011 include leading a healthier lifestyle by introducing a regular exercise routine daily into my life and of course losing 50 lbs. My short term goal is to weigh 170 lbs by May 15/2011. I am a 58 year old working grandmother and want to continue to enjoy my life and family!

I actually didn't join SP with a New Years resolution. Resolutions don't work for me, but my goal is to lost at least 49-50 by the end of the year.

Nobody can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending.

Hello Everyone!

My goal is to buy 3" heels and feel comfortable in them by the end of the year!! I'll put up pictures and everything. Oh yeah...and a really great outfit to go with it :)

I don't wear heels or nice clothes, because I always feel too fat. Heck, I'd just like to have a waist. So being able to do this would do wonders for my self esteem.

I want to hike a particular canyon again by my b-day (end of feb)

I want to hike a particular National Park again by May.

I am moving my body everyday! Literally there were some days last year I barely moved except moving my fingers at the keyboard at work, rolling my eyes at my cubicle neighbor does not count!!

I want to laugh more!! Love to laugh and just smile. I am saying hi to everyone when I walk in the door -- even when I feel down in the dumps tripping over my own head.

I want to feel the sun shining down on my face and feel the air outside. I cooped myself up indoors most of last year -- I am so ready for this!

Anyways...here is to everyone reaching their goals and thanks to everyone for sharing!! It keeps me motivated to read everyone's goals!

Hello, all!

I am trying focus my goals on on overall heath and not a specific weight, although I do have a very general idea of what weight I would like to eventually maintain.

My fitness/physical health goals are:
-Develop a regular yoga practice
-Run a distance race (10K or longer)
-Make morning exercise an automatic part of my routine
-Maintain consistent healthy eating habits, particularly eating more protein and more vegetables
-Look better naked :)

My other goals are:
-Save an emergency fund by the end of the year
-Take the GRE
-Work on my writing and other hobbies
-Emphasize balance, acceptance, and joy in day-to-day living, instead of anxiety and negativity
-Feel real momentum and a sense of agency in my life, instead of stagnation and helplessness

My goals for 2011 are to improve my physical fitness enough to hike some of the harder trails in this area. Also, to lose 35 pounds by the end of the year. Other goals, build my savings account and use my time off wisely as in a real vacation. I haven't had one of those in years.

- Adapt a Healthier Life Style
- Lose those dreaded 10-16 pounds
- Read bible and pray more often
- Try to be of service to others

I've realized I have a lot of goals for 2011, but am making the decision to tackle one at a time.

Ultimately, I have between 50 and 60 pounds to lose. I had my daughter in September of 2009, and being overweight has lasted far too long. I work in an office all day not doing much, but when I get home, I'm not working out either. I need to find a way to incorporate physical activity with family time.

I also have more clothes than a boutique, but can't fit into 90% of them. This needs to change. I could literally go shopping in my own closet, and that's just what I plan to do every time I reach a mini goal.

With weight loss, my overall attitude towards myself will change. I'll also be a lot happier.

By December, I plan to be a happier, healthier, fitter, and thinner me who enjoys life and will overcome anything it throws at me.

"No" has been stricken from the vocabulary. I will do this no matter what happens.

Hi, y'all! This is my first post on this team. My goals must start small, or I know I will not succeed. Once I realized I can accomplish the small goals, then I will feel more comfortable setting larger ones. My goals right now are to keep drinking water and keep getting on my Wii Fit for 30 minutes per day. So far I've lost two pounds since starting here, but 4 pounds since I started anything on Christmas Eve. It's slower than I would like, but I know I kicked myself in the butt one day and caused a 2 pound gain in a day, lol! Okay, if there must be full on goals...then I'm aiming to lose a grand total of another 77 pounds this year for a grand total of 81. I want to weigh 150. According to all the "charts" out there, I should be like 129. I think I would look like a stick at 129, lol!

Goals for 2011:
To fit into my clothes comfortably

To reduce my risk of stroke which runs on the female side of my family; my mother was 10 years older than I am now when she had hers

To have more energy and to love exercise

To have my cheerful disposition back, instead of berating myself

Goals:
-Lose 90 pounds by the end of the year (long term goal)
-Adopt healthy eating habits
-Be able to walk up a flight of stairs w/o feeling like I want to pass out
-Get into a size 10!
-Get below the 200s!
-Lose 50 pounds by June
-Gain confidence
-Go out and socialize
-Get my nursing degree and get a job
-Learn to love myself
