Nikkii, the fact that we have come to the crossroads, embraced the epiphany, and realized priority is everything. Taking action, becoming stronger, more focused, and realizing our full potential is the essence of a happier life. I'm always excited for those that embrace it! Let's rock!

I'm a newbie also... had a spiritual encounter with God who spoke to me and stated my physical body need to match my spirit. I was 247 pounds and made up in my mind and heart I had to make a change on that day and have not turned back since. I too was an emotional eater. I have to be here to see my nephew grow up and returning home to take care of my mother who was fighting breast cancer and then being able to help a community of people visiting and watching my mother and others fight for life, you see life differently. Here they are fighting for life and I was just eating my life away. People my age 39 and younger are dieing of stroke and heart attack all around me. Who would have thought I would be running. Running, spinning, and working out has become therapy for me. My mother had surgery and radiation treatments to remove the cancer, living with her since 2011 I can tell the radiation may have done something to her mentally, causing her to have dimentia. Every day she is changing. And in november last year I was unemployed so everyday i apply for over 100 jobs. WHY I RUN... I run to keep my mind. I pray that God continue to give me the strength to endure all that is in my pathway. I know He will never leave me or forsake me. I've realized in the running world everyone is running for purpose or a reason. Being in the mist of a community of people who understand, support, encourage, motivate and inspire you (and me doing the same) has been truly a blessing. I'm running to live life to the fulliest.

Welcome, CHEESESMRS!

I'm with BECKYANNE1 on this. I can totally identify with all the stress management benefits of running. If I'm feeling a bit down, I'll go out for a short run, and life is good again! It's a fantastic stress buster alternative!

As I don't see your SparkPage, I have to ask questions? Have you talked to a doctor about your running plans? Have you ever walked a 5K. What cardio are you doing now? I'm always excited for teammates who are embracing new challenges. Have fun with it no matter what!

Welcome!

Running is a great stress reliever. I know alot of people that run for that purpose. I've done it also. I used to walk to relieve my stress, but I've since started running and I love it. Plus it does help for weight loss.

Good Luck!

Hello I'm 28, married with 2 kids, I'm a nurse and I am obese. I really want to become a proficient runner for the weight loss and health but even more for the personal time. That may sound silly but a lot of the runners I know feel like running really clears their heads and helps them manage stress. You could guess that I usually turn to food when stressed, its true. I was a smoker, sweets took the place of that. I have a few friends who have done the Color Run which looks soooooooo fun.
