This has been going on for the past three years that I know. Army Chaplains were ordered to conduct "marriage" ceremonies between same-sex partners sometime ago (couple of years). The most recent violation of the First Amendment was informing all military chaplains they could make no reference to, nor use the name of, Jesus.
Obviously, since there is no "Jesus figure" in Islam, no one in their religion was at all upset.
The attack on Christianity in the military has been has been more and more blatant each succeeding year of the Obama administration. thenewamerican.com/culture/faith-and-moral
BO's comments about religion undermining a unit's morale is specious at best. His knowledge of the military history of the United states certainly comes from a blind, warped direction.
I can provide direct testimony of the Judeo/Christian impact during the Vietnam War. The talks with my son about the impact the First Gulf War had on our troops freedom to practice the Christian would probably be declared as second-hand because he saw it and I didn't.
My Marine brother's testimony from combat Nicaragua also would be classified as second hand, but he reported no problems with being able to conduct services in Nicaragua, possibly because the enemy was also Christian.
I am not aware of a single incident in our military history where the practice of one's religion was detrimental to the good order of any sized unit.
As usual, Obama's diatribe is nothing but smoke and mirrors. Another effort to keep the American people off balance so he can destroy our Representative Democratic Republic and replace it with a Socialist Democracy.
