Thanks so much for the post. I find that VERY encouraging!! Thank goodness I'm not on oxygen. Today was my 1 mile walk. I finished in 24.5 minutes. I downloaded a stop watch app for my phone and it worked wonderfully. Used the map tracking feature found here to set a 1 mile route too. Very helpful than guesstimating or driving it my car first. I finished the walk without any shortness of breath, heart racing or pounding out of my chest and feeling pretty good overall. Sunday is the 1.5 mile walk and I have that all mapped out too! I can say without hesitation...I am looking forward to it!

TEAM-ERIC, Walking is a wonderful way to increase you cardio fitness. I helped train a lady for a half marathon. She had been on oxygen all the time until she started walking. She shocked her doctor when she did her half with no oxygen. While she still has to use oxygen, it isn't necessary 24/7 like it used to be.

As you work on the program, just remember you can repeat a week when necessary. Do it, but do it your way.

I think you maybe right Walking Grandma! I do have some breathing issues that most likely will present some problems but I'm going to push through them. Today was 15 minutes and I kept a decent pace going and wasn't winded at all when I finished. I mapped out a route I figured might take me 15 minutes and set my phone timer for 8 so I could see where I was around the half-way mark. I had almost finished the route at 8 minutes. I set it again for 7 and walked the route again minus 2 blocks and was back at my door just as the timer went off. Whoo Hoo! I felt pretty good about that.

You may make it in time for the cooler fall weather. I know when I started, it was August. By November, I was walking 5 miles at a time with no problem. You can do this.

That sounds like an excellent goal to me!!

I've been walking here and there trying to get in the "habit" of it all. Once a month or so my husband and I have breakfast at a little place not far from our house. Last Saturday as we sat on the patio, it occurred to me that it would be a nice walk instead of driving. I'm in no shape to do it now, but decided then and there by next Spring I would be able to make that walk. Last night I found this program and who knows maybe it won't be next Spring but in 5 weeks!! Now I have a reason to start walking!
