I totally agree WG! Getting out there early before it gets to 100 is the key! That's what I'm planning to do tomorrow. It is supposed to be about 75 with a heat index of 80 or so tomorrow morning, so I'm planning to get out there about 6 or so.

5K is very doable. It does take your time as this is what the program is about. If you can walk 30 minutes, you can do this. Some even do this using a walker!

I did a 5K on Monday. It has been near 100 here so I got up extra early and walked before the sun hit the pavement. It was much better to walk then. It also helps when you walk outside and become "acclimated" to the weather.

Hi, Mpghunt; I think you are very accomplished. Changes for the good usually take time. I am starting anew and hope I will accomplish as much as you have. I am trying; however, I can't yet do the 3.5 miles.

If you can do that, you can do the 5K at the end of 5 weeks!! I'm living proof of it, except I haven't done the final walk yet...that's tomorrow! One thing I wish is that I hadn't picked the hottest and most humid time of year to do this! LOL!

I thought this was a good way to get exercising. It has been a year since I started on a journey of losing weight. I went from 274 to my present weight of 229. I was hoping to have at least 100 lbs off by now, but I know it takes time. I now can walk for 30 minutes without losing my breath and I am hoping to by the end of the 5 weeks I can walk 3.5 miles. Its slow going, but a year ago, I couldn't even walk a block without having to take a break! emoticon
