Welcome to Spark and to the team & walking program. Calories allowed are based on exercise minutes per week, sex and current weight, I believe. You need to fuel to lose weight. Spark does not subscribe to ELC "diets" but rather to slow and steady through healthy eating and exercise.

Hello everyone.I am new to Sparkpeople.While I signed up a few months ago, never really did anything with the site until yesterday. I am nearly finished reading the book and think I'm ready to go. Long way to go and just not sure how to get there. I would like to lose 50 pounds in the next year. Going to take alot of work I do know that. I am very confused by the amount of allowable calories listed.Can anyone tell me how those are set? Anyway, I am hopeful for a positive outcome this time. God knows I've tried everything else. This site looks like it has alot of support. Anway, nice to meet everyone!
