Spent a weekend at a stay-cation in which I ate and drank way out of control. Slowly working back to my former good boy self. Today Planet Fitness! And walking in the snow-covered hills.

Blessing to you as well, it's a hard journey for any mother. Today would have been my son 29th birthday.... but I made it to the gym, and pushed through yoga and some treadmill work, I will celebrate him tonight when I get home..
It's nice to meet everyone

Welcome, MORINANNA. My heart goes out to you. What a hard thing to face.

I also have lumbar arthritis, spondylosis, and have struggled with depression in the past. Congrats for getting to the Y! A swimming pool can be a wonderful thing for our type of arthritis and back pain. I hope you find it to be as helpful as I have. Keeping the weight off is the main thing, of course, and as you say, move it or lose it! I used to sit 18-20 hours a day. (Sleep? What sleep?) Now I make sure to work only 6-8 hours, and I take a break in the middle of the day to go to the gym. (Luckily I work at home.) That plus walking everywhere seems to have made about a 95% improvement in my quality of life. It sounds like you're already pretty mobile, so that's good!

Welcome from Minnesota! I think it's great that you are getting out. I know what it's like to lose a child--I lost my 24 year old daughter 7 years ago tomorrow from a drug overdose and you never stop missing them. Stay strong!

Blessed be.

Hi! It's great you are sharing! My partner has anxiety and panic attacks. I have arthritis. I joined Planet Fitness. I don't go as often as I used to, but tomorrow for sure.

Nice to meet all of you, I just turned 50 and spent most of my life living in pain, both physical and emotional pain. I spent most of my life self medicating, and that is now a thing of the past. I have finally been diagnosed with lumbar arthritis, DDD, spinal stenois, bone spurs on my lumbar vertebra, depression and panic attack. Today I gave myself a huge pat on the back I walked in and join the YMCA for the first time in my life. I had never even saw the inside of a gym. I learned how to use the treadmill, enjoyed the warm pool, then took a nice long hot shower before leaving. I am already hooked, I felt so amazing when I came out. So I meet my first challenge, walking in the door! I know that seems silly for most but for me that was a big step. I am currently on a lot of narcotic meds for the pain and nerve damage, as well as nerves in general. I set my goal small to loose 10 lbs, but I am working my way up to walking my 1st ever 5k May 31st, I signed up to do the local color run. My life finally has color again, after a very dark time. I lost my 23 yr old son a few yrs back in a car accident and my life has not and never will be the same. So my new motto is MOVE IT OR LOOSE IT. I'm so scared I will not be able to walk in the future, I want to keep my freedom and what health I have, and maybe just maybe become even more healthier. feel free to friend me, etc. looking forward to getting to know everyone... oh a little else about me, I am a very spiritual person, Taoist nature lover at heart, I also love yoga!
