Paleo diet is a whole foods diet that excludes dairy and grains. I was not much of a dairy person, so that wasn't a stretch. But giving up grains in favor of meats is hard for me... But if it works, then I am willing to make that a complete lifestyle change for good. My dr. told me to try it for 30 days and see how I feel - so that's what I'm going to do! :-)
Thus far, I don't notice much of a difference in my joints, however, my energy has been higher.... :-) I'm happy about that!

Have you tried chair exercises? If so, do they still bother you? There is such a variety of them out there. You could check youtube for clips. They have tons of them, of all kinds. My arthritis is Osteo and primarily knees, but getting worse now in fingers and sometimes toes. Sure doesn't make this thing easy.
There is also the Chair Exercise team. They have a lot of info and resources gathered to help out.
I don't know what the Paleo diet is. I've heard of it, but maybe I should look and see what it's about.

I'm new to this group and thought I'd introduce myself.
I'm a 37 year old single mom with autoimmune arthritis (cuz the only thing strong enough to kick my ass is me!). :-)
I've always been overweight, but had always been active, until I was about 32... (which was when I started to have joint problems). My weight has since crept up and my arthritis has since gotten worse... which makes it even HARDER to remain active!
My toes and back (namely my SI joints) are what bother me the most. That severely hinders most aeorbic efforts! :-(
My rheumatologist suggested trying the paleo diet - he said he's seen great results in other autoimmune patients of his. So I've been doing that for a few weeks and walking 3 or so times/week.
And that brings me here! :-) Since my arthritis is currently my biggest obsticle in my weight loss/health efforts, I thought this would be a great place to find support! :-)
