Welcome to this team. I share your discomfort. Mine nodules are on the right hand and I am a golfer. I faced severe damage in one joint and moderate damage in two others. The MRI showed rheumatoid arthritis. During this past year, I did finger exercises that I found for hand arthritis on the internet. My doctor approved me doing them. I also used volaren gel as I could not take aspirin. I switched to more vegetables and less meat. I visited a dietitian who helped me move to breakfast and lunch as a vegetarian. My dinner is limited to 3-4 oz of chicken, turkey, salmon or very lean beef. My vegetables are plentiful on my plate.
I soak my hands in warm water when my pain is worse. I hope this helps you.
Hi everyone I am new to this group and to bouts of arthritis. I had one small bout 6 or 7 years ago; it started in the summer and the result was a nodule on knuckle of my middle finger of my left hand. Well it's back, surprise surprise. Same hand, knuckle on the ring finger.
It really hurts to make a fist, but I do it over and over and over again because I am so afraid of losing motion in my fingers. I am a business teacher (teach 3 sections of keyboarding) and am keyboarding all the time (in all my classes). I am also an avid knitter and plan on doing both for years to come. Knitting--of course for the rest of my life!!!!!
Question: I am so new to this disease-is there anything I can do to lessen the pain? Am I doing right by my motion exercise? Are there any non-drug, herbal remedies (I hate using drugs)? Anyone out there have some suggestions?
