I did the pool and it worked for me. My doctor told me 15 min in the pool is like 30 min on the gym floor. I do it whenever I can.

Welcome from Minnesota, and good luck on your journey! If you have a pool nearby that does water aerobics, those are great for people with arthritis because the water helps take the stress of the joints. Even if you have a pool nearby that doesn't do exercises, you could always go, find a corner and make up your own. That's what I do whenever I have a chance.

Thanks for the info on the low impact exercise dvd's. I aslo have a Wii and the wii Fit, I just have to remember where I put it and dust it off, lol. Looking forward to getting to know you, hope you all have a wonderful day!

emoticon I need low impact exercise DVD's. They are hard to find and what some people call low impact I don't. Many exercise DVD's have someone doing the exercise low impact. Palates, yoga, tie chi and belly dancing are all low impact by nature. I have problems finding them in the stores, but have found some on line. Amazon has a good selection. I found most DVD's for seniors are low impact. Most sitting exercise DVD's are low impact. If you can watch or tape Sit and be Fit on PBS, you can get 30 min low impact exercises and at their web site you can order tapes. SP has a sitting video and I made up my own exercise plan using 3 or 4 exercises for each part of my body that I could do. Just remember if you make you own plan you need it include at warm up and cool down.

Welcome! Do you have access to a pool? A lot of my friends with arthritis are able to do water aerobics because there's less stress on the joints. Even pool walking and swimming are good.

Hi there, I'm new to this site and have been searching it the past couple days for a workout dvd that is very low impact. I am 39, but have severe osteoarthritis. I had a total left hip replacement in Feb. 2010 due to severe arthritis mainly caused from a previous injury. I also have svere arthritis in my right knee due to the many years of favoring my left hip. I need a full knee replacement, but my doctor, who replaced my hip, will not do the surgery because of my age. I guess fake knees don't last as long as fake hips-haha ;-) I also have arthritis in my back, fingers and left knee. Sooooo, I REALLY need to get some of this weight off. I would love a few new friends to chat with for mutual motivation, so if you think you wanna chat sometime, lets strike up a friendship! Message me :-)
