Welcome Thomasina. You're in a great group. I also have arthritis throughout and I think more artificialparts than natural ones. Just had shoulder surgery yesterday. I also have fibromyalgia and know what you're dealing with. Keep up the good work.

Hi, I'm Thomasina and have osteo in various joints and xray just confirmed I have it in both wrists and fingers. I knew about the fingers, but was not sure about the wrists.. I was hoping the pain was just a form of tendonitis.. I had a hip replacement 2 years ago and it was a huge success and gave me back my mobility.
I joined Sparkpeople in early October of this year and was so surprised to drop the weight I wanted to in such a short time period. I've never had to diet in the past, but noticed the weight was starting to creep up and I need to keep it down to help manage this osteo.
I also manage fibromyalgia and it's tougher than the osteo as the weight loss doesn't really help with those symptoms.. especially the brain fog that comes at times, but exercise does ease the aches and pains in the muscles, especially the yoga.
My main forms of exercise are yoga, walking and using a stationary bike for the winter months. I took up road cycling this summer and fell in love with it. I couldn't believe how it made me feel like a kid again.. especially goiing down hills and enjoying the wind on my face..
