Welcome everybody another blessed day the Lord has made. Pressing toward the mark and not giving up. Small victories are victories I have lost another pounds and 1/2. I am so grateful that i didn't put on weight. I have giving my body enough rest after my last fall and i am going to start exercise today. i know slow. welcome Deanna, I also suffer with osteo and arthritis. I have had a couple of accident at work. I know that when i exercise my pain are less. need to start again one day at a time. you can do it.

Welcome Deanna. I have osteo as well as RA, and I find that swimming, walking, exercising (whichever you can do) in a heated pool is the only exercise I can do. The warm water soothes the pain, and the movement helps with weight loss at the same time. It is also the only kind of exercise you can do that doesn't put weight on your knees. Welcome aboard!!! You're on a great team here. I've had 2 total knee replacements among others so I can really relate with what you're going through.
Have you tried pineapple juice or TART cherry juice? Pineapple juice is for inflamation. The Tart cherry juice really does help arthritis. My husband uses it faithfully for osteoarthritis and it really helped - 4-6 oz a day. He has since achieved the other sister to osteo which is rheumatoid. I have arthritis throughout my entire body.
Also, try a hot bath or a hot tub. They both have helped us a great deal with our arthritis. For some people, even cold will help arthritis pain. We have found the hot to be the best for us.
Do only what you can do without over doing it. Slow and easy is the thing.

You have joined the right team. There is a section that deals with exercises for all areas. There are alot of light exercises that won't hurt your knees. Just keep asking questions, search the differsnt areas and topics, and enjoy your journey.

I am Deanna. I am new to Spark People. I am very glad to find a team for this topic. I am 36 years old, and 2 years ago I was diagnosed with early-onset osteoarthritis, in both of my knees. Some days the pain and swelling are so bad I can barley stand...let alone exercise.
I am hoping to find exercises I can do that won't hurt my legs. I was told by my last doctor that if I lost 10 lbs it would really good. I weighed 160 lbs at the time, and this was told to me by a woman who weighed, like, 90lbs...if she was carrying a bowling ball! I felt slightly insulted. As I mentioned I hurt alot, and my husband will not workout with me. Any advice on gentle exercises would be great! Thanks!!
