Hi all, my name is Kendra and I too am suffering from severe knee pain. Both knees are bone on bone and need to be replaced but have been told I am too young. I am extremely frustrated because I can't do the things with my kids that I want to. Even going to the grocery store can be extremely painful. I am a single mom and my kids are 13 and 7 so I just push through, I do what has to be done. I have started going to water aerobics at the local Y and love it. I really enjoy swimming with the kids too. It takes all the weight off my knees and the reason I love water aerobics is because I can do as much as I want and modify it so I don't hurt myself. I'm sorry for all of us but it's also nice to know there are others who can relate to what I'm going through. Sometimes I feel very alone in my frustration and pain.
Good morning Lori! God bless you! You remind me of "me" :0) I want you to know -- in short-- I felt and did the same thing around 2005-- I have bad knees, due to osteoA, and I WAS way over weight. Im 5'7 and was almost 200 LBS! maybe thats not that much compared to others-- but it was hurting me! My sons had just left home - and I wanted to do something for me-- I went back to school, Im now a nutritionist. I lost almost 50 LBS during my endevor! and -- I did it WITHOUT DIETING! I do not believe in them--- I am currently trying to get a cookbook out (need to find a trusting publisher) -- All you need for "now" is a willing heart and mind-- and a revision of your every day eating. I can do that for you if you email me. :0) -- dont give up hope! You can do this --!!!!!!!!!! Please email me---------- carroljoy
I get the bulk of my exercise by putting my groceries and laundry away one at a time. It is a good way to get that 'walk' in that you would otherwise not get, and the beauty of doing it this way, is that I can safely pace myself - sit when I need without having to walk anywhere to do so. It is also even ground so no jolting; no worries about the weather; and the best yet - it doesn't seem like exercise but it also doesn't seem like work :-)
I am in agony and would like to see if anyone has a way of relieving the pain from arthritis in my knee. I am on meds and they are just not working. I have tried heat and ice and cold packs. I have been stretching (gently) and walking to keep the muscles moving. I am getting up at least three and maybe four times at night because of pain and I guess now is the time for a doctor visit AGAIN. I need to lose 50 pounds but the lack of exercise is keeping me stalled. I am miserable, grouchy, and am at a point where I need to get advice as to what others have done that has worked for them. I have started a new job and now is not a good time for an operation until I am there for a year and can't afford to take time off. Any thoughts anyone. lol Thank you ahead of time for your ideas. :)

I have so friends who have horror stories but most, especially those who loose weight and exercise seem to have a good result. Too bad you cannot replace spine.

Good morning Lindalouise! -- I also have osteoarthritis and I have had 1 knee replced- and have a 1/2 knee replaced in the other! However-- I am praying I can make it thru the Summer before I HAVE to get the total replement in that knee also! It has been hurting me worse, and I know whats coming! I am ready whenever I cant stand it any more! The 1/2 knee was the 1st one I had done-- then 2 years later I had to have the other one, but a total. It was wonderful NOT having the pain any more! and I can now do everything I couldnt before -- without pain! Also, Im a nutritionist-- I was - many years ago almost 200 LBS! I am 5'6. So-- when the kidos left home, I decided I was hurting way to much, had my knee replced, went into nutrition (for me) and Ive been doing great since! I encourage you to go for it! Get that knee done! You will be a totally different woman! Blessings of encouragment! CarolJoy
Hi, LINDALOUISE1. I too have osteoarthritis in my knees. I have had both my knees replaced. It is wonderful to be able to get around without a cane and to be able to climb up and down stairs like a regular person rather than having to take one step and stop, take another step, etc. It was the best thing I ever did for myself.
I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills. From whence commeth my help? My help commeth from the Lord who made heaven and earth. flemidg
