Thanks so much for the warm welcome. It is so great to find a place where people understand what we are going through. As for my weight loss, not real sure what that is caused by. I go back to my rheumatologist next month and that question is at the top of my list. Never really thought about this disease speeding up my metabolism but that is a real possibility.
I recently got a puppy about a month ago. She is a young one and very much fun. Some days its exhausting, but I can't wait until she grows up and is my constant companion when I will really need one.

Wow, I would definately discuss this more with your doctor. There are so many autoimmune diseases that can affect balance and flexability you need to know what is going on. Only you know what is normal for your body. If a doctor doesn't give you a straight answer, find another one. Keep trying until you know exactly what is going on.

In reading your posting, one could jump to the conclusion that, since most of us are on the path to weight LOSS, we would love to trade places with you. A medical condition that causes weight LOSS......Wow!!
But the truth is that.....any condition that is painful and changes our metabolism higher or lower....and makes us suffer in any way --- is not to be taken lightly or to be desired.
You're right about challenges we are given in life! Each of us handles them in their own way. I'm in the stage, same as you, where I'm frightened of what the future holds for me. I'm trying to work it through.....with meds, counseling and sheer determination. Also, getting a dog (a lifelong dream.....) was the best thing I ever did to keep me moving. I'm retired and could easily sit still and veg out...because it hurts less NOT to move. But knowing that I have a little life who depends on me for her exercise, 'etc'. is a driving force to get me out of the house 4x a day, EVERY day. And that's better than nothing. And little by little, I'm adding other forms of movement and exercise.
We're on this 'journey' (I hate that word....can you think of another???) to good health, better mobility, positive thinking etc.....together. So again, welcome to our 'tribe'.....come often......post often and we'll be here for you.

I seem to be finding recently that I can't peddle properly at the gym and my legs are stiffer and my balance terrible. I'm now walking with a three wheeled walker. I'm having some physio but suppose I should discuss this more with my doctor as I suspect it's arthritis.

I'm here to make new connections and find some support. Also willing to give support and motivation in any way I can. I was told I have RA about 6 months ago. Currently, I am experiencing palindromic rheumatism which is very painful also. Have been going through the range of scared, sad, challenged, etc. I'm sure you all know how it is.
I'm trying to stay off meds as long as possible. Hoping to keep it under control with diet, and exercise. Currently my problem is with weight loss. Although, I do NOT need to lose weight, I have lost 8 pounds in the past 6 months. I have always been thin and when I eat right and exercise, I drop weight very easily. I know it is the opposite problem of most people, but it is still a problem for me. People at work are commenting how my clothes just hang on me and I am noticeably different. Looking for ways to get this under control.
I'm excited to be here and look forward to meeting new people with similar problems and hopefully helping each other through these challenges we have been given in life : ) Jamie
