Isn't wonderful when you find someone you have a lot in common with. Good luck you two.

I checked out your spark page = we have a lot in common. I'm a dog lover, too. Hope to talk to you often.

Did you do both hips at once? I know it is down the road for me. My mom had both hips done years ago and my dad had both knees - but that was so long ago and so many advances have been made. Curious what your experience has been.

I just had both hips replaced last year, one of my knees is next, loosing a bit more weight will ease the pain, Water aerobics is supposed to be good, but I have a water phobia so I stick with Curves 5 x week

Hi everyone my name is Sandra and I'm 47. I have OA, FMS, Spurs in my neck, Osteoporosis and Diabetic. Needless to say my life revolves around Pain. I found a treadmill with cushion so it's easier on my joints. So far I'm able to do some stretching and the walking on the treadmill. I would love to find a DVD to workout with but so far I haven't found any that I can do without pain. Any suggestions???

Best tips:
* lose weight: reducing 1 pound takes 4 pounds of impact off the joint * strength train: strong muscles support the joint plus they actually pull it apart which reduces friction and pain * move: counter-intuitive but moving helps the joint and prevents it from seizing up and getting stiffer * rule from PT: if the joint hurts for 1 hour or less after activity, that is in bounds. If it hurst longer than that, then reduce the time or intensity a bit until it is in bounds.
Cheers, Catherine

Just found out about this group and can't wait to learn from you. I have osteoarthritis in both knees and hips. I've had the Synvisc one shot in my one knee and it has helped tremendously, and arthroscopic surgery helped on the other, but the hips are not great. I'll be looking for ways to lessen my discomfort.
