Hey, everybody! My name is Kalen and I'm 28 years old. My husband and I live in Indianapolis, and while we don't have kids yet, we hope to in the next few years. I'm currently unemployed, so the only things that take up my time are housework, making dinner, church choir once a week, Facebook, working out, and playing games with my husband and our friends. We also travel to Chicago about once a month to visit my family.

I'm really looking forward to participating in this group to help me focus on my weight and eating habits this holiday season. I've typically gained between 5-10 pounds in the past, and I'm hoping to avoid that this year. I'm not going to beat myself up if I gain a couple pounds, but I'd rather keep watching the scale move down. I love having lots of "buddies" and support, and I think this group will definitely help with that, along with my other groups and my sister.

I'll be waiting until closer to New Year's to make my new resolutions. I know I'm not going to make it to my goals from this past January, but I want to see how close I can get before I focus on next year.

Goals for the next few months:

November - finish the SparkPeople New You bootcamp (started on Nov. 1), keep my calories in range, and continue progress on Couch to 5K program.

December - Continue progress on C25K, enjoy a few treats but focus on overall staying in range, keep up with strength training

January - Well, we'll see where November and December leave me, but I plan to continue focusing on challenging myself with exercise, both cardio and strength training, eating healthier, and staying in my calorie range

2) Where are you from?
lots of places, presently in TX

3) Any children?
1, 21 year old college student

4) How busy are you: work, school, family, travel, etc?
not that busy, currently unemployed and running the household (which, to tell the truth, is a full time job the way I do it)

5) How can we help you maintain your health during the holidays and your busy schedule?
support

6) On a scale of 1-10 how determined are you to maintain or lose weight over the holiday?
9 or 10 - I am near my goal weight and I really want to keep on a downward track, especially for my birthday goal (12/20)

7) Normally how much weight do you gain after the holidays?
not much, maybe a pound or two

8) Any New Year's resolutions? Are you gonna practice them ahead of time or wait until after New Years 2011?
I constantly add resolutions to my life - right now I'm working on remembering to apply sunscreen during the day and anti-aging lotions morning and night

9) Do you like to lose weight alone or with a buddy? If with a buddy try our Hold the Stuffing Buddy Finder.
my husband is my top weight loss buddy, but I like having spark buddies too

10) What are your monthly goals (food, mind, body) for Nov, Dec, and January?
I was working on the goal to get under 130 lbs by 12/20 (my 46th birthday, my husband's 46th birthday, and our 24th anniversary), but I just had two amazing weeks and already reached that goal. Now I want to maintain or improve between now and New Years. My "dream" goal is to wear my 8-year-old size 4 jeans on my birthday. I'll have to do extremely well to meet that goal!
To meet that goal, I want to keep eating healthy and watch those treat days (usually we stick to 1 or 2 treats a month, but the holiday season makes that difficult). I also want to keep up with my regular exercise, which can be tough when the holidays bring extra activities and tasks!

Hi. I'm Tina (AKA Dopkigirl). I am a wife and mother of two wonderful children. I have a 13 yo daughter and a 2 yo son. I am currently a stay at home mom, but in the process of finding a night job; as finances are building up and in dire need of money. I have been with Spark since April 2006. I got here because I gained 80 pounds with my first pregnancy back in 1996 and added additional weight thereafter. I finally got fed up with being large and unhealthy, so, LONG OVERDUE, in 2006 I began my journey. I have had many stop and goes along the way, but I am here now and that's what's important.

My 1st attempt back in 2006, I lost 20lbs, then took time off and the next two times I yo-yo'd but didn't gain weight which was good but didnít lose any either. Then, I got pregnant in 2008 with my son and it wasn't a time for dieting, but I still used tips I learned from Spark to only gain 30 pounds. I was super excited. After giving birth to my son, I lost 20lbs in the first week or two. Then it took me another 8 months to get back to pre-pregnancy weight. 9 months to gain it, 9 months to take it off. My husband is very supportive. He has been doing weight-loss challenges at work and has lost over 100lbs. I feel motivated to make myself happy now and feel and look as good as he does. I have to do this for myself and no one else. Other factors are just motivators not the reason. I want to be "me" again.

I have been on and off Spark over the last year but was back on board full-time again at the end of September when I started heading the Biggest Loser Challenge: Team Jillian again. I am currently participating in two other groups: Biggest Loser Season 10 and 10-minute Daily Exercise Challenge. I am looking forward to this group and talking with each of you and getting to know you during our journey.

Take care and talk with you soon! Sorry for the rambling. Never know what's too much or not enough to get started with introductions. Ask me anything, I am up to being honest and spilling my guts. LOL!

Questionnaire:
1) What's your name? TINA

2) Where are you from? SE WISCONSIN

3) Any children? 2 (13 & 2)

4) How busy are you: work, school, family, travel, etc? I am a SAHM, but certainly always busy with family and sports activities for our daughter.

5) How can we help you maintain your health during the holidays and your busy schedule? I would appreciate everyone holding me accountable and 'nagging' me to make sure I am doing what needs to be done to be healthy. If you notice me absent, sent me a 'shout out' to get my butt in gear.

6) On a scale of 1-10 how determined are you to maintain or lose weight over the holiday? I would say my determination is about an 8. I know it is a time for family, fun and togetherness, but I don't need to lose focus on what's important to me, and that is being healthy. All in moderation!

7) Normally how much weight do you gain after the holidays? Gosh, I don't even remember, possible 10pds.

8) Any New Year's resolutions? Are you gonna practice them ahead of time or wait until after New Years 2011? I am actively trying to lose weight. I don't want to wait until the New Year, when I know I can do something before hand. My goal is to lose 25 lbs by New Years, which started a few weeks ago. I am a bit behind but I hope I can vamp it up a bit and get darn close. :D

9) Do you like to lose weight alone or with a buddy? If with a buddy try our Hold the Stuffing Buddy Finder. : I prefer to lose weight with others, it helps me keep accountable and focused on the goal at hand.

10) What are your monthly goals (food, mind, body) for Nov, Dec, and January? I want to lose 10 pounds a month and ultimately lose 25lbs by New Years.

Happy Healthy Hunting!!!! :D

Happy Fall/Winter everyone! The holidays is usually the hardest time of year for me for a lot of reasons. My family (parents and sibs) do not practice healthy lifestyles, there's a ton of family get togethers with food, and I LOVE fall and winter comfort foods. My family can be emotionally distressing this time of year, and I'm an emotional eater. On top of all this I turn 30 the Monday after Thanksgiving! I've got definite goals in mind, and am encouraged that I've lost 5lbs in the past 2 weeks.

1) What's your name? Christine

2) Where are you from? Madison, WI

3) Any children? no

4) How busy are you: work, school, family, travel, etc? Just finished an Opera, so I now have gads of free time, but I keep busy with work and friends.

5) How can we help you maintain your health during the holidays and your busy schedule? I do well with motivating comments and hearing others tricks and tips for surviving.

6) On a scale of 1-10 how determined are you to maintain or lose weight over the holiday? 15!!!!

7) Normally how much weight do you gain after the holidays? approx 10lbs

8) Any New Year's resolutions? Are you gonna practice them ahead of time or wait until after New Years 2011? I want so bad to lose the last 25-30 lbs to meet my goal!

9) Do you like to lose weight alone or with a buddy? I like classes, but tend to work out alone

10) What are your monthly goals (food, mind, body) for Nov, Dec, and January? stay within my prescribed eating regimen, work out at least 5 times per week for minimum 45 minutes, take 5 hours a week to do something solely for myself.

Hi, I'm Jessica.

I grew up in California and currently live outside of Dallas, TX. We've been here 2 years and love it and won't move again.

We have one daughter in the 3rd grade.

I have been super busy the last 6 weeks but it is actually slowing down, a little.

My goal is a 10 - to maintain my weight the next 2 months. I have 2 more pounds to take off to fulfill my sparkpeople goal but I know that I can't do that right now, or if I did I would just gain it back in December anyway. So - I've decided to be kind to myself and if I can just maintain this season I'll have done better than any year before.

I don't do New Year's resolutions because I don't wait for a reason to change anything - I start it immediately.

My goals for the next 2 months are to log in my food everyday and make it to the gym minimum 3 X a week, preferably 4 X.

1) What's your name?
Hi my name is Ally.

2) Where are you from?
I'm from Southern California, but I'm currently studying abroad in Italy. I will be returning to the states on December 18th, just in time for the holidays!

3) Any children?
Nope, I'm a 20 year old college student, not quite ready for that!

4) How busy are you: work, school, family, travel, etc?
Pretty busy with school and traveling at the moment, but I make time for myself and my priorities.

5) How can we help you maintain your health during the holidays and your busy schedule?
I mostly need to be held accountable for my actions, and weigh-ins keep me motivated to stick to the plan and stay away from that extra helping of dessert ;)
I also like having the support of a group community, knowing that everyone is committed to the same goal and that we are all going through the same challenges!

6) On a scale of 1-10 how determined are you to maintain or lose weight over the holiday?
I would say a 9. Not a 10 because I'm willing to enjoy myself a little bit, in moderation of course. But I really want to do this for myself because I've been working to lose weight for a while now and I'm ready for it to finally come off. What better present to give myself than the weight loss I've been striving for?

7) Normally how much weight do you gain after the holidays?
I'm not sure historically, though I do know last year before Thanksgiving I lost about 10 pounds and didn't gain ANY after that holiday (I know, I wish I knew how I did it). After Christmas I was up maybe 2 pounds, but from January to March I somehow gained 15 pounds and I've been working to lose that ever since!

8) Any New Year's resolutions? Are you gonna practice them ahead of time or wait until after New Years 2011?
I want to reach my final goal weight and maintain with a structured plan for at least 3-4 months and see where I am from there. I also want to keep exercising as part of a healthy lifestyle! Of course I'm going to practice the exercise ahead of time ;)

9) Do you like to lose weight alone or with a buddy? If with a buddy try our Hold the Stuffing Buddy Finder.
I enjoy having a buddy, but I'm very independent and methodical. I would rather have a venting buddy than anything ha!

10) What are your monthly goals (food, mind, body) for Nov, Dec, and January?
For November I want to kickstart my weight loss and begin a healthier relationship with food that allows me to eat what I want in moderation and still lose weight. In the spirit of the holiday I would also like to be thankful to my body for trying its best and doing everything it does for me!
For December and January I want to continue putting my knowledge and skills to good use and love my body. I want to get involved in new types of exercise! I want to develop a healthy mindset by the time I get to maintenance.

1) What's your name? Cynthia

2) Where are you from? Southeast PA

3) Any children? Yes--one son, 22

4) How busy are you: work, school, family, travel, etc? I have two jobs and basically only have weeknights free with some Saturdays.

5) How can we help you maintain your health during the holidays and your busy schedule? Give me a prod to do my workouts after dinner in the evening! I usually don't feel like doing this.

6) On a scale of 1-10 how determined are you to maintain or lose weight over the holiday? Perhaps a 6, but working on making myself a higher priority.

7) Normally how much weight do you gain after the holidays? I normally do OK. Last year I breezed through because I was only working part time and had time to exercise.

8) Any New Year's resolutions? Are you gonna practice them ahead of time or wait until after New Years 2011? To reach and/or maintain my goal weight and enhance my healthy lifestyle by taking more time to do things that give me joy. Yes--I am working on getting a running start on that.

9) Do you like to lose weight alone or with a buddy? If with a buddy try our Hold the Stuffing Buddy Finder. I normally work alone, but a buddy might be fun.

10) What are your monthly goals (food, mind, body) for Nov, Dec, and January?

I'd like to lose at least three pounds per month, get at least 200 exercise minutes per week, and explore more vegetarian & whole foods.

I think one's feelings waste themselves in words; they ought to be distilled into actions which bring results.--Florence Nightengale

My name is Heather and I'm from Florida. I'm married, but am waiting a few years to start a family.

I'm fairly busy and just starting a new job and trying to play sports in the evening. Unfortunately, practice is late, so it's been difficult trying to figure out a good schedule, but I've been pretty good about packing a large lunch and snack and having dinner planned (if not ready) by the time I get home. I'm thinking I need to invest in a crock pot.

This might all change when the hubby gets back from "downrange." He's into fitness as well, but he can get away with more junk food than I can and he LOVES to cook. And he's very, very good at it.

I think that for me, the team can help keep me accountable. I need to continue tracking calories and up the exercise the day before and day after the holiday. I'm usually pretty good at exercising the day of, but I've got to make sure I do that as well. I think I mostly just need encouragement to stay an active participant in my weight loss goals. My friends are not supportive at all.

On a scale of 1-10 (10 being super motivate) I'd say....this is tough. It really depends on the day. I'd say I'm about a 6 or 7 for weight loss, but I'm a 10 for maintenance. I need to get to a 9 or 10 for the weight loss, though.

I think I'm pretty good at maintaining during the holidays. I'd say I usually gain 0-3lbs from November-early January.

I don't usually make New Year's resolutions. I make goals year round, though. I don't really know how I prefer to lose weight. I always end up doing it alone. I think Spark People has really helped me, though. Last week and most of this week were very bad, but Spark People really helped get me back on track.

My goals for November: Lose 5lbs. I'm expecting this to be super hard for various reasons. I also hope to get better at basketball and keep a fitness routine. I expect to continue eating at least 5 servings of fruits and veggies and get my water. The last two have been hard for me recently. I also hope to get better sleep.

December: Lose the last 1-5 pounds and then maintain when I feel successful. I hope to continue playing sports, enjoy spending time with friends and family, but still enjoy the holiday food and drinks. I'm hoping the 5 servings of fruits and veggies will be ingrained at this point and I still want to drink my water and get enough sleep. Maybe those will be habits, too.

January: Hopefully, I will continue maintaining my weight. If I gained, which I will try super hard not to, I will try to lose that weight. I hope to have successfully incorporated eating my fruits and veggies, drinking my water, and good sleep into my lifestyle. I also hope to learn how to ski and snowboard and take advantage of my fabulous location here in Europe.

Hi, I'm Martha. I just joined this team today. I live in Akron Ohio. I have one son (he turned 20 today!) who is a student at Northwestern University-yes I'm proud, lol.
I work full time 40+ per week, and of course have all the other housewife responsibilities - cleaning, laundry, etc. etc. etc. I'm also keep busy taking care of my husband and chickens, goats, rabbits, dogs and cats.
I want to hit my goal weight on or before my birthday on January 14th, so I CAN'T afford to gain anything over the holidays. But I love to eat! scale of one to ten?-8.
In the past, I've managed to gain up to 20 pounds over the holidays. That MUST NOT happen this year, so hopefully this challenge will help to hold me accountable.
Best of luck to everyone else, also.
Martha

Hello, My name is Tisha
I am 68 years young.
I started out earlier this year at 333 lbs.
I now weigh 219.
I intend to be under 200 by the New Year.
I eat under 1000 calories a day and exercise 2 to 3 hours per day.
I have been here at Spark for 5 months, started when I weighted 285.
I have lived all over , but now make my home in Salem, Or.
Divorced/widowed, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren.
I am not your typical Grandmother. I still work and sty very busy.
My music of choice is rock and roll.
My goal is to be the healthiest and fittest person I can be at my age.
I love to be challenged, I love to win. I am an over achiever.
This will be the first holiday season that I have had to pass up some of the temptations that the season brings. Have already looked longingly at the eggnog in the stores. I will have some if I can have a small amount. But I will not buy a whole carton.
My success so far is quantity and quality. Small amounts of good quality foods , so far it has worked very well. If you want mashed potatos and gravy, have a small amount just figure it into your daily food plan. To enjoy your live and not feel deprived one must have foods that are enjoyable. Just less is best.
So here's to a successful holiday season for one and all.

Believe in yourself, never give up, you are stronger than you think."

Too much writing. But I am here

Sing to the Lord a new song, for he has done marvelous things:... Psalm 98

1) What's your name?
Janet emoticon

2) Where are you from?
Arkansas

3) Any children?
Yes, one 13 year old son

4) How busy are you: work, school, family, travel, etc?
Very! I work full time, commute 45 mins each way and am planning a trip to London the week of T-giving

5) How can we help you maintain your health during the holidays and your busy schedule?
Hopefully just being a member of a team will help keep me conscious about my eating and exercise during this period

6) On a scale of 1-10 how determined are you to maintain or lose weight over the holiday?
I would say about an 8 to maintain, not really looking to lose any

7) Normally how much weight do you gain after the holidays?
3-5 lbs

8) Any New Year's resolutions? Are you gonna practice them ahead of time or wait until after New Years 2011?
I had a great 2010, so I will probably have non-weight loss goals for 2011 (other than to maintain!)

9) Do you like to lose weight alone or with a buddy? If with a buddy try our Hold the Stuffing Buddy Finder.
I'm fine on my own.

10) What are your monthly goals (food, mind, body) for Nov, Dec, and January?
Nov - dont pig out in London, maintain exercise levels!
Dec - watch the sweets, increase exercise (try to incorporate jogging with walking)
Jan - watch the alcohol and dining out, add more strength training to exercise regime

3) No kids yet

4) I am busier than anyone should be! I work full time and recently took a second, dream job at a start up company. Although it's my second job, I am basically working there every moment I am not at my "normal" job. I also have family, friends, cooking, running, Zumba, and sleep to fit into that day at some time!

5) By reminding me to stay focused and that losing 84 pounds was much more worthwhile than a slice of pie or mashed potatoes.

6) 20!!! Okay, 10!!!

7) I'm not really sure how much I normally gain during the holidays, but I would guess at least a few pounds.

8) My New Year's Resolution is my everyday resolution. I want to live a healthier life and live it to the fullest. I want to enjoy exercise and push myself to places I never imagined. I want to run a 30 minute 5K in 2011 and motivate my family and husband to stay on track too.

9) I have tons of buddy's and am lucky to have a family that has committed to the same goals I have.

10) My goals are to maintain my weight or even lose a few pounds. To run or go to Zumba 3 times a week. To live healthy and not fall off the wagon, but enjoy life and the treats that come along with it.

1) My name is Jennifer

2) I live in Maryland

3) Only the 4 legged kind: 2 horses & 4 cats

4) This time of year I am still competing my horse and just after the holidays my job is out of control. I am a tax accountant so you know what that means...

5) I enjoy challenges and am looking forward to making sure I can keep up with everyone else.

6) Determination - 10!

7) I have no idea how much I gain from Nov to Jan. I can tell you that from Jan to Apr it's around 5 to 10lbs! I need to figure out how to stop that, but that's later.

8) No New Year's resolutions for me. No point.

9) I'm pretty independent and don't like asking for help. That doesn't mean I don't need it. I'm going to look at the Buddy page once I finish here.

10) Nov - reach goal weight! (That's my plan. We'll see.)
Dec - make sure I keep up the exercising. It is sooo easy once it gets dark early to just skip it one night (then 2, then 3). I need to nip that in the bud!

1) My name is Heather.

2) I am from central Wisconsin.

3) I have three children, ages 12, 7, and 3 (2 girls and a boy).

4) I am not overly busy - I am good at making time for myself, family and doing extra-curriculars for church, etc. I run my own home daycare, which allows me the freedom of having control over my daily routine.

5) I believe this team can help by offering challenges to follow that will help me stay on track and keep mindful during the holidays, when I'm more likely to indulge or go overboard with my eating.

6) On a scale of 1-10, I am a firm 10 in determination to stay at my current weight.

7) Last year I got through without gaining too much, I don't think. I was determined then, too, to maintain. So I've got a good track record!

8) I don't make New Year's Resolutions, I make up new goals as they come to me.

9) I've always been on my own, but I do like to connect with other like-minded people and give and get encouragement.

10) My monthly goal for Nov. is to maintain weight and eat mindfully at Thanksgiving so hopefully I can recover from any indulgence quickly.
My montly goal for Dec. is the same, only I also need to watch out during feastive parties through-out the month.
My monthly goal for Jan. is to have maintained my weigth through the holidays (I'll give myself a 2 pound grace too!) and think about how to revamp my workout routine with some new DVDs (hopefully Christmas gifts!).

Live well, laugh often, love much.

1) What's your name? Kathy

2) Where are you from? All over US. born KY, grew up moving around the northeast, later CA, and TX. Now in upstate NY.

3) Any children? 1, age 28

4) How busy are you: work, school, family, travel, etc? No job now, just busy scaling down possessions after a move from 2400 square feet to 1000. I got rid of a lot before the move, but still have so much more stuff than we need. It's crunch time with snow coming, to clear the garage and get things put in storage.

5) How can we help you maintain your health during the holidays and your busy schedule? Just having this challenge.

6) On a scale of 1-10 how determined are you to maintain or lose weight over the holiday? 10

7) Normally how much weight do you gain after the holidays? To be honest, hardly any. My problem is the rest of the year, all year round, especially, the past month, leading up to Halloween. I'll post about this in the Halloween challenge thread.

I wanted to join this challenge to keep me on track. I don't want to gain anymore, anytime.

8) Any New Year's resolutions? Are you gonna practice them ahead of time or wait until after New Years 2011? After too many years of failed resolutions, I steer clear of those.

9) Do you like to lose weight alone or with a buddy? If with a buddy try our Hold the Stuffing Buddy Finder. I don't know. I'll look into it.

10) What are your monthly goals (food, mind, body) for Nov, Dec, and January? Food: I'm waiting for my first appointment with a dietician, since I just saw a doctor this week and he's setting it up. Mind: Turn on music instead of TV in the daytime, so I'll stay up and moving. Body: Go to the pool at the YMCA, because of foot and knee problems. This is a challenge anyway, but with colder weather might be harder.

Hi, I am so happy to have found you because I need help making progress through the upcoming holidays!!!

1) My name is Cheryl.

2) I am from Northern Michigan.

3) I have 6 adult children, 4 grandchildren; all girls.

4) I retired 1 month ago but I find myself just as busy. I am catching up on so many things and having a great time doing it.

5) I need to make a plan and a healthy menu for Thanksgiving that is still scrumptious.

6) Motivation level is 10

7) 5-7 pounds.

8) I haven't thought about New Years yet.

9) I have a small group on Spark that works for me. Sometimes it seems everyone gets worn out at the same time and participation wanes. I might try a buddy.

10) My goals would be to lose something. At first I thought I would be pleased to maintain but I don't want to waste weeks not moving closer to my goals. My goal is to be at 154 by October 31st. 150 by the end of November. 145 by the end of December.

1) What's your name?

*Kitty will do.

2) Where are you from?

*Born on the border in AZ. Raised in Southern Cali. Living near the beach in Georgia. But, I long to live in the mountains someday.

3) Any children?

* We have 3 kidos (2 boys & 1 girl).

4) How busy are you: work, school, family, travel, etc?

* I'm a SAHM, so it depends on the day. :)

5) How can we help you maintain your health during the holidays and your busy schedule?

* Mainly I'm looking to be a part of an active group where I can give and get support and friendship with others like myself. Going it alone has not worked for me so far.

6) On a scale of 1-10 how determined are you to maintain or lose weight over the holiday?

* I'm going to go with about an 8 or a 9. I really want to lose about 17 or 18 pounds by the end of the year and the only way that's going to happen is if I behave myself over the holidays.

7) Normally how much weight do you gain after the holidays?

*It's varied. Last year I lost 10 pounds and promptly got sick and got off track. One year I gained 7 lbs just looking at the Halloween candy my kids brought home.

8) Any New Year's resolutions? Are you gonna practice them ahead of time or wait until after New Years 2011?

* Oh no...I'm starting now. I've put losing weight off for way too long already. I want to greet the new year healthier and happier with promises to keep going, not get started.

9) Do you like to lose weight alone or with a buddy? If with a buddy try our Hold the Stuffing Buddy Finder.

* I'd love a buddy. I'm headed to the Buddy Finder next. :)

10) What are your monthly goals (food, mind, body) for Nov, Dec, and January?

*I'm working on a set of monthly weight loss goals now and I'm also making plans for healthier foods for the holidays. My biggest hurdle right now is planning for Halloween candy. Halloween is my favorite holiday, so it's a lot harder for me to resist temptation. Plus it's my wedding anniversary and we usually go out and eat and drink too much anyway.

9) with a buddy would be fun. i have a few friends on this weight loss journey with me, and the more the merrier!

10) this is going to be a hard year for me. my hubs and i just split, i dont know how i am going to afford to buy my son christmas presents, and it will be our first holiday season apart. i just want to get through and again, not get off track

1) What's your name? Dawn

2) Where are you from? Michigan

3) Any children? 2 girls 13 and nearly 17

4) How busy are you: Stay at home Mom, but if sparking counts as a job, then full time! emoticon Extremely busy during the first couple weeks of November and it mounds through January!

5) How can we help you maintain your health during the holidays and your busy schedule? Hold me accountable and push me with challenges!

6) On a scale of 1-10 how determined are you to maintain or lose weight over the holiday? Oh a 10 for SURE! Really tired of getting within a few pounds of my goal and having to add back 4-5 pounds!

7) Normally how much weight do you gain after the holidays? 4-5 pounds during Nov to the New Year! Not so much from overindulging because I can control that, but more from letting exercise slip (or become non existent) during these months!

8) Any New Year's resolutions? Are you gonna practice them ahead of time or wait until after New Years 2011? No resolutions, but rather continuing on a path to lifestyle changes that take life into account! Constantly striving to make progress!

9) Do you like to lose weight alone or with a buddy? If with a buddy try our Hold the Stuffing Buddy Finder. A little of both! I like pushing myself and getting creative, but also enjoy the accountability, support, push and ideas that come from having someone along for the ride!

10) What are your monthly goals (food, mind, body) for Nov, Dec, and January? Continue to make wise choices, not deprive myself but practice portion control, continue tracking everything, not put exercise on the back burner due to lack of time, schedule workouts and do them early, not stress out because "there isn't enough time", get enough sleep instead of running on empty! Yep, that pretty much covers everything! emoticon

1) What's your name? Sarah

2) Where are you from? North Carolina

3) Any children? Two! Kaleb-9, Kennedy-5

4) How busy are you: work, school, family, travel, etc?
I work full time, plus I am a mom full time! My children do spend time with their father (we are divorced) every other weekend, so I do get some free time! Although it always seems I am trying to catch up when they are gone!

5) How can we help you maintain your health during the holidays and your busy schedule? I hope we all can encourage each other! Key (New_Me_Forever) and I are here to help, listen, and encourage everyone!

6) On a scale of 1-10 how determined are you to maintain or lose weight over the holiday? 10 baby!

7) Normally how much weight do you gain after the holidays? Usually my weight gain starts at Halloween- I have a hard time saying no to the big bowls of candy in our house! Then add Thanksgiving and Christmas, I would say about 8 lbs. My goal this year is to stick to my no candy rule, really watch my portions and maintain my exercise routine!

8) Any New Year's resolutions? Are you gonna practice them ahead of time or wait until after New Years 2011? There is no time like the present. My procrastination is what landed me where I am weight wise!

9) Do you like to lose weight alone or with a buddy? If with a buddy try our Hold the Stuffing Buddy Finder. Having a buddy is great! It's so helpful to have someone to encourage you, listen to your struggles and it's nice to know I am not alone when I want to give in!

10) What are your monthly goals (food, mind, body) for Nov, Dec, and January? My original exercise goal for this month was 2000 min (I logged over 1750 last month), however, I seem to have lost some of my umph when it comes to that- so I am resetting to 1750 again this month, and will go from there! Food- the same, watch my portions, make healthy and colorful choices. I have been through a lot in the past few years (divorce, mother diagnosed with cancer and passing in May, work woes) so I plan on really trying to work through those emotions and find out what balances in my life really work for me.

Hi There,

I'm Edith from northern California, and I have one 14 year old son. I have a 45 mile commute to work through traffic, that takes an hour in the morning and an hour and a half to get home usually. I work in medical biotech being a quality assurance engineer for software validation.

I have done a good job of getting back on the diet, but haven't been great about getting back to my resistance exercise since getting my gall bladder out and all that drama.

This challenge will help me start recording my exercise, I'm doing some but not getting around to putting it in. That commitment should encourage me to get back to more of it.

I am 100% determined to lose the rest of the weight I want to during the holidays. I hope to hit 154 by new years, but would be very happy with 160, or close to that. With all the food people bring into work during the holidays, it would be very easy to gain 5 pounds. It is much safer to be recording everything I eat so I don't overdo it.

New Year's resolutions probably have more to do with getting a handle on all the finances. I don't owe anything, but I really don't keep good enough track.

I like to lose weight on my own, but I do like challenges too. I like being supportive, but being an engineer type, I have trouble remembering where I left a conversation, what was going on with a person, and I think I am not the greatest buddy. I want to do my own thing too much.

My goals for the next three months are to maintain eating within my calorie limits and to get better about getting up early to work out before work.

Hugs -- Edith Started at 220, made goal 160 now I have to get there again :-)

Keep Dancing. Joy is the best exercise.
