I am from Denver, Colorado but, live in Lebanon, Missouri
I have 6 grown children, 3 boys and 3 girls
I'm not a very busy person. I'm disabled and use a walker to get around.
I need help and support on losing weight.
I'm very determined to lose weight. 10
I would very much enjoy finding a buddy to walk with.
I stay within my calorie range. I've been trying to stay on weight watchers diet and tracking my points. I've also started walking and watching my carbs.

5) How can we help you maintain your health during your busy schedule? Kick me in the butt and make me workout. My nutrition is going fairly well. I do really good working out for a couple of weeks, then t.o.m. sucks away any motivation. Even after it takes me a bit to get started again.

When I first signed up for Spark I thought I would just be using the logging tools, but I love the challenges, and new friends. They make me laugh and keep me going!


8) What are your monthly goals (food, mind, body)? Cook from scratch more. Mind: I'm there most days. I have found a new sense of calm, and not worrying about things which I can not change. I would like to keep in that direction. Body: Lose weight, of course, but I want to be stronger. I would like to do better push-ups, do a pull-up and a hand stand. Also improve my flexibility.

Its 2012!!! Its going to be 2013...my resolution was to survive 2012, you know with the zombies and the world ending and such. So far so good. Next years goal, just continue making healthy choices..and staying alive.

4) How busy are you: work, school, family, travel, etc? I'm pretty busy with a full time job and other responsibilities and my kids activities. One of my sons is a cross country runner, so this is our busy season.

5) How can we help you maintain your health during your busy schedule? Keeping me focused on my goals.

6) On a scale of 1-10 how determined are you to maintain or lose weight ? I'm very determined.

7) Do you like to lose weight alone or with a buddy? I'm better alone, but I like to have others on the journey with me. That's what I use Sparkpeople for.

8) What are your monthly goals (food, mind, body)? To be consistent with my tracking and exercise. Especially as the weather gets cooler and there are more reasons to slip-up. In October I am going to be in a 5K during a Conference I'll be at and would like to run part of it.

5) How can we help you maintain your health during your busy schedule? I do so much better with a team challenge, so motivation is my big thing.

6) On a scale of 1-10 how determined are you to maintain or lose weight ? 10 for me. I am moving toward a vegan diet and that has already had benefits so I am excited.

This first month I can shoot for 10lbs since it is recent weight but after that I'll shoot for 6 lbs a month. I'll exercise at the gym 4 days a week for 45 -90 minutes at a time and I'm switching my meals to having safe stand bys in the house but not holding anything off limits because then I feel deprived and revert back to bad habits.

4) How busy are you: work, school, family, travel, etc? Right now I'm not working, but do quite a bit of travelling to visit family. For the month of January I've been house sitting and taking care of my 91 yo mother in law to give my sister in law a break.

5) How can we help you maintain your health during the holidays and during your busy schedule? Having people to talk to who have the same goals helps keep me motivated

6) On a scale of 1-10 how determined are you to maintain or lose weight ? 10

7) Normally how much weight do you gain after the holidays? It's not just the holidays, I usually put on a few pounds every winter. This year was a tough one and I gained a lot more than I normally would and ended up the heaviest I've ever been.

8) Any New Year's resolutions? My resolution was to eat healthy and be more active. I also want to lose the weight I've gained and get back to my goal weight.

9) Do you like to lose weight alone or with a buddy? I like having a buddy. My husband is extremely supportive and is doing this with me. He doesn't really need to lose weight, but eating healthy and exercising is important to both of us.

10) What are your monthly goals (food, mind, body) for January? My goal for January was to lose 10 lbs, but I don't think I'll make that goal. I'm not sure how realistic it was anyway. I lost about 7 so far and then stopped. My goal is to be able to fit into my summer clothes (that I bought when I was at my goal weight) and just be comfortable with myself.

Hi all! I have been having a lot of trouble keeping my eating in check and finding time to exercise this holiday season. I saw this group today and thought it would be a great opportunity to work on getting it together again with like-minded people.

1) What's your name? Sara

2) Where are you from? Southern Indiana

3) Any children? None.

4) How busy are you: work, school, family, travel, etc? I am in my last year of law school so I am finishing up exams this week. I also work 15-20 hours a week and run the household for myself and my partner. He has very limited time off this holiday season so we won't be traveling much. In summary, I'm fairly busy BUT I am trying to make myself and my health (mental and physical) a priority this holiday season (and generally!).

5) How can we help you maintain your health during the holidays and during your busy schedule? One of my goals is to spend some time each day on SP. I joined this group to have some accountability and a sense that others were fighting to stay true to themselves and their goals this holiday season.

6) On a scale of 1-10 how determined are you to maintain or lose weight? 7/8 - I am nearing my goal and am determined to finally get there. However, I would not place myself at the highest rating because I sometimes make other things my main priority.

7) Normally how much weight do you gain after the holidays? I am not sure. I would say about 5lbs, perhaps 10lbs. I only tracked last year (I restarted my journey on SP last December).

8) Any New Year's resolutions? Are you gonna practice them ahead of time or wait until after New Years 2012? My main New Year's Resolution is to get my house and finances organized and shed unnecessary stuff/junk/possessions. As far as weight loss, I am a bridesmaid in a wedding in early June and I'd like to lose 15-20lbs between now and then. I am in progress in all these goals.

9) Do you like to lose weight alone or with a buddy? If with a buddy try our Hold the Stuffing Buddy Finder. I am planning on going it alone for the most part, but I want to to be active in the forums and community as a way to connect with others.

Nov. - N/A; I missed the boat on that one and gained ~4lbs during the Thanksgiving and finals rush.

Dec. - (body) Exercise 3-4 times a week and use daily opportunities to stay active, (mind) write down one positive thing about the day and tell myself something positive about me every morning, (food) track ALL food eaten every day and do my best to meet my nutrition goals.

I volunteer with two animal rescue organizations, and I have to take my daughter to her play rehearsal nearly every evening until the show opens in mid-Dec. I'm enrolled in a boot camp/boxing class that meets 2-3 days a week, and I hit the gym 4 days a week on my own. So yeah, I'm kinda busy, lol.

6) On a scale of 1-10 how determined are you to maintain or lose weight ? 10

7) Normally how much weight do you gain after the holidays? In the past, probably 5 pounds. But last year, after I started Sparkpeople, I didn't gain anything. So I'm hoping to be as successful this year.

8) Any New Year's resolutions? Are you gonna practice them ahead of time or wait until after New Years 2012? Yes. I plan to run my first marathon. My official training phase doesn't begin until mid-January, but I'm still running 3-4 days a week in the meantime.

9) Do you like to lose weight alone or with a buddy? I'm fine going it alone. I do like the support on the message boards, though.

10) What are your monthly goals (food, mind, body) for Nov, Dec, and January? My only goal right now is to lose 10 pounds by mid-January, when I start my marathon training. I've heard it's harder to lose the weight when training, so I'm trying to tackle some of it early.

November - I'd like to finish the month with at least 800 fitness minutes. I'm at 500 right now. And hope to have lost 2 or 3 lbs.

December - I'm hoping to keep losing but realistically, I'll be happy to just maintain. I do a lot of baking for the holidays, it's something I love doing and give a lot of it away, so my aim is just to not eat too much of it before it leaves my kitchen. :) And I'll be aiming for 1000 fitness minutes.

January - To have a loss of at least 5 lbs and be totally back on track with my eating. Also I tend to get depressed in Jan/Feb and hope to avoid that by maintaining my exercise (1000 minutes) and keeping busy with things like crocheting and restocking the online shop where I sell a few of my things. To stay focused on the positive and avoid the winter blahs.

4) How busy are you: work, school, family, travel, etc?I am a SAHM but I stay on the go caring family and special needs sweet heart. I am learning to care for myself better but the learning process came at a price. I have some health challenges but I never let that stop me or sway me. emoticon

5) How can we help you maintain your health during your busy schedule? I think I need what I call a check in and see how you are doing thingy. Families are extremely busy during this time

6) On a scale of 1-10 how determined are you to maintain or lose weight? 10 I am very committed and determined to reach my weight goal. Yes it will take me some time. Set backs as I call them will happen. But what is important is to keep going when they do happen. I am not one who lies down on the job so to speak.

9) Do you like to lose weight alone or with a buddy? I am gonna keep it real here I'd love a age appropriate buddy but some folks my age 51 don't move or some work and have different schedules that I do. Or complain about aches and pains. That is a downer and I am an upbeat person. I am working alone at present but a partner just might add to my success. I am an emotional eater and I am working on that each day. I have developed some distractions techniques to check myself. I just need a check in buddy. I am motivated and I am a natural encourager by nature. I am not the kick your butt type though. More of the lovely move your booty type and don't give up type. Not sure if I could rock it with anyone 20 with age difference me being 51. Hope I did not scare anybody off. Lets rock this stuffing off. emoticon

10) What are your goals?To developed a strengthening routine and stick with it. I struggle with that mostly. Lose 5-10 pounds now and between January. Keep my self care routine in place. Keep an eye on the emotional eating and tackle it before hand.

My work fluctuates and can be quiet/slow or hectic/busy during year end. Right now I am slow which is allowing me to focus on my health goals. My fiance is a Firefighter so I can be busier at times because it sometimes is being a single parent.

5) How can we help you maintain your health during the holidays and your busy schedule? I think ongoing motivation & encouragement are key but fun mini-challenges would be great.

6) On a scale of 1-10 how determined are you to maintain or lose weight over the holiday? 10

7) Normally how much weight do you gain after the holidays? Honestly I haven't really paid attention but I know I don't track my food and feel it week over week when I put on my jeans.

8) Any New Year's resolutions? Are you gonna practice them ahead of time or wait until after New Years 2011? No I think focusing the ongoing health goals I have is important enough.

9) Do you like to lose weight alone or with a buddy? If with a buddy try our Hold the Stuffing Buddy Finder. I do better with a buddy and enjoy the community feeling in the site to help me stay motivated.

I think challenges help keep me accountable, love the ideal of the buddy program.

7) Normally how much weight do you gain after the holidays? At least 10-15 lbs. I normally do lose it in january but I am already overweight and it just adds to the weight I already have on..
8) Any New Year's resolutions? Not this year, I usually make them and i usually keep them for a couple months but once one fails the others do to..


9) Do you like to lose weight alone or with a buddy? alone at home, most friends are not as overweight and might diet for a week or two and then quit as soon as some temptation gets in their path and then sabotage me into joining them. I would like a computer buddy though.

10) What are your goals? I have a beautiful horse that I have quit riding due to my weight, she deserves better, I deserve better. I also am a critical care nurse, there are many situations where I need to be healthier and stronger.

4) How busy are you? Work a seasonal job at a marina (fixin' to be laid off 11/18). Heading into my really not very busy at all, time of year. Plenty of time to bake and snack... Sold our house; no garden or yard to fool with. All my craft stuff is in storage. Yikes! Too much opportunity to eat!

5) How can we help you maintain your health during your busy schedule? See above; I'm looking for a challenge to help me stay motivated, once I have more time on my hands.

7) Normally how much weight do you gain after the holidays? 5-10 pounds. This is done by a cycle of binge/starve, binge/starve from Halloween til after Easter. Totally unhealthy and I do NOT want to do it anymore.

8) Any New Year's resolutions? No, I don't make any. I'm just focused on a permanent lifestyle change.

10) What are your goals? I want my butt to quit flapping along behind me, when I jog. I want to fit into all the clothes I got too fat for. I have 3 grown up girls, living on their own and my nest is empty. Laura, and Angelica lives in Texas, and Mari lives in Lebanon, PA. Laura has a 2 years old little, lovely girl, my Sofia, little, little.

I am at home busy, trying to recover from an ankle surgery, trying to recover from loosing my job, trying to organize my house and make it a home, trying to get healthy, do exercise and handle my emotional eating.

I want to give and get support. Loneliness is killing me and I am dealing with it with sugary food. So I want to feel I belong cause loneliness is hurting.

On a scale, 1 - 10, I will say I am an 8.

I have never try a buddy, I had done on my own, so far.

My name is Louisa. I am from conewango, new york. It is a very small town in western ny. I have 3 children,,2 boys and 1 girl.I have 6 grandchildren. I work full time at walmart..take care of my family..and my home.. Right now i am trying to get my health under control.
