Hi everyone! I am in my 30's from Michigan. I've lost over 100 lbs. before before the PTSD. My blood sugars forced me to wake up and try to save my own life again but i am still struggling a lot. I'm hoping that being on SP will help me stay motivated as it did in the past. Being on teams with supportive friendly people makes everything fun and a lot easier. I guess my goal right now is to clean up my room because it looks like a storage area and build a rat wall for my 6 boys.

Hi all!
I am also housekeeping challenged. It seems that when I am not looking, the house takes over me rather than me taking over the house. We have company about once/month so that's when we clean....sad to say. I am hoping we can help each other be accountable. The task is so overwhelming I have a hard time making a plan and sticking with it!

2017 Goals:
Lose 20 pounds
Run 1000 miles in a year

Run several half marathons and 5K's.

Less computer/tv time, more other house/work stuff needed to be done.
Eat three servings of vegies and fruit--less meat

Hi, everyone!
I would describe myself as "housekeeping challenged". It's a good thing that we have friends over for dinner on a weekly basis, or no telling how the rooms would look (if you could take a peek at the basement or craft room, you'd get the idea). Hoping this site will help me be accountable. I know i can do this, but I've been saying that for years. "Never too late" will be my mantra!

Hello!

I've been on Sparkpeople and the team for a while, but never introduced myself in here.
I feel like I'm always trying to declutter, clean and organize because it gets cluttered, messy and disorganized when I'm having a bad day with my health. And I also moved into a smaller apartment a little over a year ago so I simply have too much to fit in my apartment or shelves.

My Sparkgoal is just to live as healthy as I can despite some health issues. I don't really need to lose any weight in my opinion (but SP seems to recommend losing a few kg).

Love from Sweden,
Noah

I'm returning to Spark after a few years and regaining 15 of the 35 pounds I lost before :( At the same time, I'm trying to declutter and minimalize - getting rid of clutter inside my body and out ;)

New to the board and Spark. Might as well make my home as healthy, ordered and calm as I hope to create the same state for my body.

Hi, my name is Melanie. I have a 19 year old daughter in college and a 30 year old stepson who are all pack rats including my husband. I started using FlyLady and if I can get in the groove it should help a lot. I'm claustrophobic and my house used to be a retreat. Now I just feel the walls closing in. So glad that I found this group.

Hi, I've been here at Spark for about 8 months, but I was not online much for the last 2 months. In the end of the year rush, I lost sight of my health goals, stopped logging in here and stopped reorganizing my house. I moved awhile ago and still have not gotten everything where it should be. Moving was in a rush, so nothing is where it should be and I have less closet space here to hide things away until I get to them. Luckily, I chose to toss out my living room furniture ( It had lived a long life already and fixing it would cost more than replacing it) so the half sorted boxes have plenty of space. I have bad knees and a bad lower back so I need to tackle things a little at a time and wait for weekends and hope my son has time to help with the heavy things. Taking it slow is hard for me because I moved a lot growing up and the whole house was unpacked, organized and spotless within 2 or 3 days ( mom was a clean freak and I used to be). I'm having trouble thinking in smaller doable packages and am hoping that being here helps me change my thinking and habits.

My goal - get my house all sorted out this year so I can use the living room as one instead of a messy storage room. I don't have a family room and sitting at the kitchen table all the time is getting old.

I am Jan but also called 2B here in Sparks.
I have been here since 2012 and love it.
I joined this team, because I have actually been called "The Organizer"....
I have worked in a number of medical clinics and doctors offices where Iorganized successfully organized a mammography department, a Surgery center.

I believe in the saying "Work Smarter not Harder."
I find clutter and chaos disturbing, therefore, our home is clean, peaceful, and orderly.
GOALS: I have my goals and fitness plans lined out for 2017 which will mean more time spent at the gym.... Keeping an organized house frees up time for me and allows me just to keep my health and fitness number one priority.... I look forward to meeting some new people here.

I'm in the process of cleaning my whole house out and losing weight! I have been a member of the team for awhile but haven't really participated. I started working full time last Summer after graduating school. Things are a mess and I am ready to get control!

Hi I'm new to the team and SparkPeople. I've started full time work 2 years ago and been having a hard time managing the little time left after a days work with all that still needs to be done. I'm hoping that this team can help me with that as well as the extra pounds gained since full time work.

Hello all. I am 39 with dogs and a husband who I love. We just relocated for his work. We had to do it quick so I wasn't able to declutter prior to leaving. So now that we are here I really need to do something about the clutter. Right now it is all sitting around in the spare bedrooms.

Looking for a positive community where I can get support for my cleaning and organizing goals.

I'm 32, live in a very cluttered home with my aging parents. My goals:
Turn a really cluttered room into a fitness studio (a naysayer said it wouldn't happen. I can't wait for the day I can say to her"See? I have this. You said I wouldn't")
Have the rest of the house be clutter free.
Have time and energy to work out daily
Be so good at time management that even I'm in awe
I also have a bunch of goals that probably are off topic on this team.

I am new here and hoping to drop my habits which contribute to my weight, such as bringing home stuff that turns into clutter. I want to clear, clear, streamline and simplify my life....maybe even become a minimalist living in an austere home where I exercise my fit form, feed myself home cooked meals, and enjoy the company of loved ones. A vision I need help holding to when facing clutter I'd rather continue to ignore.
Hope

Congratulations on getting some things out to Goodwill! That is great. It really makes a difference.

I never learned possession management growing up. I tend to collect a lot of books and I want to keep them all, even though I don't have room for them.

When I put time into cleaning & organizing, there's often a voice in the back of my head that says, Maybe I just have too much stuff for my space. I'm not sure how to arrive at a decision on this.

This is so me!!! I have created a schedule to organize my house. I feel my life - weight management and organizing is all tied together!

I'm a single mom of two kids - 9 and 11. I've lived in my current house for 3 years. I didn't purge when I moved and over the last three years - everything has spread. Closets, drawers, cabinets.

I am almost done purging my kitchen and have taken out 4 loads to Goodwill. It feels great.

Thanks, Feralauntie! (Love your username.) I appreciate the encouragement. Yesterday and today I was feeling like my goals are too small--like planning two meals a day should be easy and that what I really should be doing is handling all the food and exercise stuff at once. But honestly, eating two healthy meals at scheduled times is hard for me! I feel like if I tried to do more I would get overwhelmed and let it all go.

I am trying to keep faith in the schedule I posted. Certainly if I stick to it I'll be in a much better place a year from now.

Thanks again for your note--it made my day!

Hi, everyone!

I'm new to SparkPeople. Today's new member challenge was to find a team and join one. I definitely need more organization in my life. I have both time and space issues. (Funny how that sounds!)

I am going to work on my eating first. I'm thinking like this:

(1) FOOD:
(a) Figure out meal routines that work for me. Healthy, tasty, easy to prepare.
(b) Organize my grocery shopping
(2) Get my exercise routine together.
(3) Time organization.
(4) Home space.

I figure if I devote three months to each issue, I will have seen real changes within a year.

This week's job is to plan my first two meals of the day and eat them rather than getting distracted by mochas and junk food, as often happens. This is day 1 and I'm doing well so far.

Thought question: why is it that plans like this one--or books like Julie Morgenstern's--look so doable on the page, but then somehow I fall off schedule?

Hi I joined the team because I could not do the Fit Food Challenge. I work a lot and am not organized enough to handle the work load and keep an organized house. Things were so out of balanced that I could not focus on eating right; meaning keeping healthy foods ready or easy to get to in my kitchen. So now I am not only losing weight but becoming a better person all around with better habits to boot.

Hi! I've been around SparkPeople off and on for awhile. Just discovered this team yesterday and am hesitant to introduce myself, because I want to be sure I can really STICK with any teams I join. Organization isn't just a weakness for me. It simply isn't a part of me. There is a tremendous amount of work needing done in this area. On the plus side, I just completed my first 15 minute decluttering session, inspired by y'all. 😁

Igniteme, I like the bins that have the clip handles. They don't pop open when moving them. Target has better prices than Walmart usually. I always wait til they go on sale. For filing, I wait for Staples to have big sales on their see through file boxes. You can stack all of these items also. Keep them small enough to lift too. Using different sizes means they don't stack as well.

I will have to look for clear bins. Do yours have lids or? I did clear my bed, only sorted n put it right back where it was. Guess I'm a chicken. Not giving up. The small changes I've made are different and better.

Hello! I live in a campground in my 5th wheel! It's 27 ft long with 1 double slide out. Was perfect for me, but now my son is here so time to REVAMP ORGANIZATION!
My bedroom has become the catch all. I have so many storage items just almost empty. my problem, if I cant see it, I can't find it. HELP! labeling is what I'm going to try now. Labels fall off though.....
I have:
5 storage drawers for clothes
2 plastice storage cabinets with 3 drawers each for stuff
and 1 plastic storage container with slim drawers for stuff. Lots of stuff is on top of my bed now
waiting for me to decide what goes where....
any ideas?
I want to build a shelf unit to hang on the wall above the bed until I can purchase twin bed.

Hello everyone I am Lori. I joined sparkpeople a long time ago and since been coming back and forth. I never really understood the site. this time I am really learning it and using it. I want to get my house in shape, it is very cluttered. I am retired now and should have the time to have a clean house. I am co-leader of TOPS in spark people. The is an organization Take Off Pounds sensibly. It is an affordable support group like sparkPeople only they have face to face meetings in the community. I am currently looking for one that will be convenient for me, currently I am an internet member.

I plan to get onto a schedule to declutter and clean my house, and my life. This looks like a team that I can really get help from.

hello, I am Paula a 49 year old married mother of two. Jake 21 and Sarah 20. I live in Brisbane, Queensland Australia.

Currently weight in at 56.1 kilo's I aim to maintain at 52 kilo's.

I left sparkpeople a while ago and since then have joined my local Weight Watchers and attend meetings each Wednesday. I decided to come back to sparkpeople to really get my weight loss under control this time.

I know I am not obese by any means but still for me I have too much weight on for my hips to carry around.

I have slight hip osteoarthritis in both hips. Doctors and specialists told me a few years ago I would need to have 2 hip replacements which I refused to have, or at least put off as long as possible. I am doing things naturally, fixing my diet, weight loss and the like.

I also have Scoliosis in my back have had it since I was a teenager. I wore a back brace then for 2 years which prevented it getting any worse.

My issues make exercising very difficult. So am unable to do much of that other than normal stuff like housework, gardening when I am able.

My goals to lose my weight are:

1. Eat three times daily only no snacks.
2. Allow 4 - 5 hours between each of the three meals.
3. Eat correct portion sizes.
4. Limit my wheat intake to very minimal only when out and don't have much choice etc.
5. Count or track my steps and aim to do no less than 3000 steps in a day. (I Have my fitbit flex liked to sparkpeople)
6. Get 7 - 8 hours sleep each night.
7. Drink 7 - 8 glasses of water each day.
8. Stop drinking soda / soft drink.
9. Cut out sugar. Consume only sugar of the natural kind found in fruits and honey.
10. Have a vision board with positive quotes, pictures and affirmations to do with my goals on it.
11. Exercise when I can, if my arthritic hips allow and I am not in pain doing so.
12. Track my food on Weight Watchers Site and track my water on Sparkpeople.

Following the steps above you can and will lose weight without any extra exercise than what you would no normally do in a day maintaining your home and garden.

I try to eat healthy and organically where possible and avoid all preservatives and additives and processed food where and when I can. Plus I am trying to be wheat free as much as possible not Gluten free & trust me when I tell you there is a difference between the two because there is.

I Drink reverse osmosis water from my water filter. Use Australian made and owned cleaning products that are non toxic and without any harsh chemicals.

I have interests in candles, reading, feng shui, computers, positive thinking, spirituality, new age thinking, Leptin Diet, soccer and gardening & beginning Sewing / quilting to name a few.

Remember it's not a diet but a healthy lifestyle!

Thank you for letting me join, I look forward to being a team member.

My goals are to have an organized kitchen (pantry at least) and organized room. I know it's a big no-no, but my bedroom is also my office and there is no other space in the house to arrange it otherwise. That said, I need a way to keep the space organized and essentially separate. Right now my desk is serving as my wardrobe for my "not clean, but not dirty" clothes. Mainly I need to figure out a routine to keep my mess from spreading out into other areas of the house.

I'm was in the same boat and just needed to remind myself that I should just take 15 minutes each morning and evening to organize. No expectations, I just set my priorities and spent the time. Eventually I realized that I could live with less stuff and enjoy it.

I need help keeping my stuff clean, neat, and organized. I get too busy with other things and have been told that I miss stuff enough that my mind tells me why do it if it doesn't meet expectations anyway.

HI. I'm Julie from the Midwestern US. I'm new to this team. I need to get organized, decluttered and clean! I have allergies so try to keep things clean, but sometimes stuff piles up. Just need a few tips on how to stay organized in the new year!

Main things are what papers to keep and throw away, etc.

15 minutes for each room sounds like a plan to me. I am the biggest procrastinator in town. Maybe this will work. I have been in a lot of pain, but sitting on my duff doesn't help.

Hi, I'm Suzie and I'm need all the help I can get organizing my home and my time. I'm retired and I seem to spend as much time on the computer as I did when I was working. My house is suffering because of it, so I need some time management skills also!

Also, I spend so much time searching for missing items. That is my wake-up call to get some sense of organization going at home. The piles on any flat surface available need to go. The boxes from previous decluttering sessions need to be sorted again and actually put each item away in its place rather than in boxes piled up under tables and behind the sofa. 2016 is my year to break through and achieve "space" in my home.

Happy to be on the team, Suzie

I, too, like the idea of working 15 minutes in each room. I think I wouldn't feel as overwhelmed by doing it that way. Thanks for the tip. emoticon

I like the 15 minutes at a time idea and have follow suggestions of Flylady before. Before you know it, you will find it easier and more frequent that you take 15 minutes of your time to declutter and you will be happier.

I am decluttering, cleaning and decorating my house using the "Fly Lady's" 15 minutes at a time strategy. Yesterday I spent 15 minutes cleaning up each of 6 places and feel like I got a lot done. Unfortunately my boys (2 teenagers and a husband) have already managed to re-clutter some of the spaces which is really frustrating! I will continue to use the 15 minute strategy as I feel I can make a real difference this way!

Hi everyone! Just checking in... I'm catching up on things that were set aside while I was sick. There are piles and piles of paper and unfinished projects and cleaning garage and gardens... well, you get the idea. It's been over a decade since I've been able to do anything consistently, so there's a lot of it! I've been reading through messages on the Team, and you're all so inspiring. The struggle will be that I can't do it all at the same time!

Kim and Alexis, welcome. I am trying to get more organized, but like Kim, I am a procrastinator, and at 68 it is very hard to change things. After a flood 1 1/2 yrs ago and I returned to condo 1 yr ago, I still have one room to unload. It is hard because I am alone and handicapped, but still that is no excuse for the length of time I am taking. Now I am working part time again, so even less time to do this. But do it I must.

Hi, my name is Alexis, I live in North Wales. I used to have excellent time management and organisational skills. Then I had two sons within 12 months and then all hell broke loose for a while. I have just gotten back in the saddle and I'm enjoying it so much, I wondered if I could pick up a few handy tips and maybe a few friends along the way.

Hi, I'm Kim from the Central San Joaquin Valley of California. I have never had a strong organizational sense - except for my closet and that is because I have OCD. My room is a mess and my desk is not able to be worked on because of the clutter. I am a grad student working on my MS in counseling: Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) and really need to get organized to eliminate some of the stress in my life. Also, I am a consummate procrastinator and I need desperately to get passed that.

I look forward to meeting you and learning from you what I can do to get more organized and create a habit of organization in my life.

I'm Eva from Canada. As I sit here I am having a garage sale. Trying to clear out the clutter. It is day two. Things are moving pretty slow. Not sure what to do with all this stuff after today. I don't want to haul it all back inside but I have a hard time letting things go!

I will reach my goals.

I've been a member here for a few years, but I left in 2010 due to my mother's illness and death , and didn't get back. I ended up gaining a lot of weight. I decided it's time to get my act together and get healthy - again. I'm using the Belly Fat Diet by John Chatham along with SparkPeople.

Organization was always my strong point, but lately, I seem to have lost control. Getting things back to normal can only help me so this forum seems like a great fit! I look forward to reading your posts and getting to know you!

Hi, my name is Laura and I am from the Chicago area. I have been a member of SP for awhile but have been MIA for a couple of years, so I thought I would reintroduce myself. I really struggle with organization, and tend to procrastinate on the things that really need to get done while staying busy with the unimportant but less stressful daily tasks, like laundry, dishes, etc.

This week I set a long-term goal of decluttering my house 50% by Labor Day. I have no storage space at all (no garage, attic, shed, basement, etc.), so things get out of control quickly. Right now I really need to get my son's room cleaned out. He moved away to college 4 years ago and just left a huge mess in his room. It has really become a dumping ground for everything we don't have a place for (so easy to just close the door!), and it has gotten to the point where I can't even walk in the room any more. My son is coming home for surgery 6/15, so my action plan is to have his room cleaned out by then. I have been telling myself I am going to get in there and clean/organize for half an hour a day, but I haven't actually done that yet. emoticon I would appreciate any tips on how everyone organizes their time to accomplish large projects.

Thanks!

Laura
