Way to go! Glad you ended up going in. Keep it up! It'll get better, though I can't say you'll never be sore again, you'll just get to look forward to it. emoticon

Friday I went in for my *glad to meet you* appointment. Did a warm up that looked like *my* personal stretch and strength then did this for my baseline:
500m row
40 squats to a 16" med ball
30 sit ups with ab mat
20 push ups from knees (I wanted to cry at 14)
15 box jumps 8"
10 ring rows feet under rings
12:12 - I didn't know if I should puke or lay down and cry

I spent the next two days hobbling around. A chill on Saturday night caused me to shiver and cry out in sharp, agonizing pain as the top of my pectorial majors contracted. YEOWCH!

I go back on Nov 12 for the first of four classes to learn how to do the moves. In the mean while I am walking/running or doing the warm up daily.

I say - Go for it! That was a pretty harsh message, but you should go in person and meet them. The trainers are usually very supportive. They do want you to give 100%, but good ones also know what you can do and what their elite athletes can do are different. That's the beauty of CrossFit. I can do a clean and jerk workout with 55 pounds instead of the prescribed 95, and still give 100%, just like the newer members doing it with a 10 pound medicine ball. It is challenging, and the group so supportive, it really is addictive! Have at it!

Wow, thats kind of harsh, lol... To be honest I "went through the motions" for about 8 weeks before I became obsessed. I was a total fish out of water, but eventually I started getting the hang of everything and grew to love it. I plan my life around it, lol. Thank God for my kind, patient, understanding trainers.

I say go for it! Give it a chance. I hope you grow to love it like I do.

Hi ladies -

I am not yet a CrossFit gal but looking into it. I am eating clean for health, weight management, blood numbers, and hopefully help my thyroid out. I want to get fit and toned and stronger.

CrossFit scares the sweet jeebies out of me! I am almost 50. I walk 3-5 times a week for an hour of more at a rate of 4.5-5.5 mph. I loathe running - all my bits just chunk up and down and feel super uncomfortable. I have not really jogged or swum or any track and field for almost30 years. I was a professional belly dancer for about 10 years but slowly gasped out of that with three babies

I want to check out CrossFit more but things like this on the webpage of a local to me group just don't feel good: At XXXXXXXXXX we want motivated individuals. People who are going to try hard everyday. You need to agree to give me an 100% effort. Donít waste my time or yours by going through the motions. You have to train hard to get results. If you canít commit to giving 100% call me when you change your mind.

Yikes! I am scared to give it a try. Ack!

I suppose I should just put my big girl panties on and give it a go. Until I then I am doing squats, crunches, push ups, and attempting a pull up every other day.

Any help or advice appreciated!
