You might have different results because I was really out of shape when I started. I have lost 7 pounds total but that wasn't why I started CF. 1. I have energy from waking up til going to bed at night. Even my 16 year old told me she wants to eat like I eat and start CF because she says I have so much more energy. 2. I feel awesome that a few weeks ago I would look at a workout and say "no way I can do that" and now I know I can. 3. After a WOD, I feel really fabulous-fit, energized, and proud of my accomplishments 4. I have just now gotten a few comments from folks saying "wow, you look great" or "You are in such good shape." Obviously, I am not in great shape after a few weeks. That's a joke compared to the other women I see in CF. 5. Everybody in CF I have met is seriously supportive of everyone else. I love the community. 6. I lifted weights and worked with a trainer 12 years ago but even after 2 years of that I wasn't doing what I am now in CF. They always challenge me but also make me back off weight if it means getting my form correct to avoid injury. 7. I love always having a coach in there-at least one but usually more.

I am not against doing paleo other than that I don't understand it and I love yogurt. Haha. I eat lots of protein-y things like tofu and meat and I eat my fruits and veggies (except I'm bad and am much more partial to fruits). I will ask more about it--the guys at my crossfit are VERY nice and willing to chit chat about anything and answer any questions. They have a paleo dinner that's free coming up so I might go to that as an intro to it or something. I definitely don't want to be starving all the time, so that won't do if that's what happens. At the moment I've decided to up my calories to 1500, so I don't feel bad eating over 1200 since I know I will and I want to be nourished enough to do the work outs as best as I can. Maybe that's not even enough! I don't really know!!
CMSLOCUM1, what do you feel you've gotten from crossfit in the last 5 weeks? I'm really curious to know! Especially if we're about the same size...I want to do it anyway, but am curious to know what results you've gotten so far. Maybe physically, maybe mentally, anything really! The guy who trained me said after I "graduated" that he's excited to see what happens with me since I have really good form, apparently, and am already really strong (I don't know...I know I'm strong but coming from a guy that's a crossfit instructor is was a compliment that I didn't know how seriously to take...maybe strong for a beginner hehe).

Congrats on starting Crossfit! I love it and have been doing it 5 weeks. We are about the same size. I would encourage you to read up on eating Paleo. Everyone is different but I struggled to keep up with my calories, etc. I wasn't eating Paleo when I started Crossfit and I just wanted to eat and eat. I feel much better now-have a lot more energy-and if I am hungry I eat something Paleo compliant.
Another option would be to read up on pre-workout and post workout meals.
I've found that I need to eat more on days I do CrossFit, otherwise I get light headed. It may be a matter of timing - I need to have a snack, like a banana with peanut butter, about 45 minutes before a crossfit workout. Your body will definitely let you know! Hope you enjoy it!

I finished my on ramp sessions last night and I'm starting my first class tonight! I'm super excited! Anybody have any tips? I'm really not sure about how much I should be eating while doing crossfit...It seems like I should probably eat more than the 1300 cal/day I've been doing the last few months. I'm 5'4" and 136.2 pounds. Any suggestions? I guess it's possible my tummy will tell me if I'm eating too little/too much. Maaaaybe.
The guy who trained me said I could start out at 4 days per week since I'm already in pretty good shape and when I'm ready to move onto 5 days a week to do that BUT to listen to my body and not do stuff it doesn't want/is ready for.
Anyway! I think crossfit is going to be a great way to stay healthy during the summer! :)
