NANABE,
How right you are, We need to change our lifestyles to lose the weight and keep it off. I also need to learn to like myself. When I lost 100 lbs, I knew I lost the weight because I was wearing smaller sizes and everyone thought I was getting to thin. I never saw myself thin and I gained it back. This time am taking it slow. Trying to lose weight and work on myself image. I will check out your team page.
Enjoy your weekend. Good Luck on your Goals this week.

Jen

Jen,

Welcome to this small but intimate group! Yes we have all been in the same situation, gained and lost a million times. Each time we say never again and it happens!

This is a lifestyle change, we are doing it for our health, but looking good in the end will be a great reward in itself.

Be sure to check out the team page, planning to add a challenge and some new goals, trying to get to it today.

This is my last few days of vacation, school starts on Tuesday, so that means back to work for me. The first few weeks of school are usually long and exhausting hours. So not sure how much I will be able to post, but will do my best.

We can do this together!

emoticon Hi , nice to meet you. I bet if a survey was done of the people on most of the forums here that the greatest majority would have to admit they had lost the weight they wished then gained it back. I know I have then gotten on the scale or not been able to button a waistline and thought "oh you dummy , you have done it again!" I know THIS time I am using 'Sparks' like is suggested , although I do not have the time for everything offered I am making sure to track the calories then examine my diets content daily. I have been feeling much better and losing gradually. My goal is to have a normal BMI eventually. Hope we all succeed and enjoy our journey.

Hi, Jen and welcome to the group! I am also pretty new to this group. Like you I was looking for a small group to join and having just turned 60 in August, I found this one! LOL
Congratulations on your 20 lbs. I have done the same as you.....lost 20 or 30 and gained 20 or 30 over the last several years. I don't have that much to lose but need to lose that 30 and keep it off! It's not about how I look...it's about how I feel and I know that is what it is for you too. I have decided it's not a matter of losing weight but more a matter of changing lifestyle. Instead of eating whatever I want I am eating things that are good for me. Instead of being sedentary, I have joined our community center and go to exercise room at least 3 days a week and usually 4 or 5 days. We can do this! My DD is also losing and she needs to lose probably 75 or 80 lbs. She has lost 22 so far. I am proud of her....of me and of you! Hang in there and like you said, we can do this together!!

Last week was a busy one. Everyone decided they wanted to get together before getting back to work. Had lunch out 3 days last week. Got a few errands done over the weekend then yesterday I went to the new school again to try to clean out and organize my new office. I really hate having to clean up other people's messes.

I'm pretty anal when it comes to being organized. I got most of it done. Still have a pretty good sized pile to go through (mostly the partnership things) and the VP hasn't even found all of the volunteer paperwork yet. I go back tomorrow to meet with the staff, and meet the new counselor for the first time. Hopefully I can get the rest of it ready for the first day of school. I have a Dr. appointment on Thursday and I really don't want to go back on Friday.

Just getting a few things done around here today, trying to get one last day of R&R in. Will take my walk tonight.

Glad you are doing good. Will be working on coming up with new goals and a challenge for the month of September. I'm open for any ideas or suggestions.

I had a great weekend! Hope you did too! We had a small dinner here at church on Friday evening for our Wednesday night kids leaders to try to plan out our year. Excited to get started again. I didn't teach last year but just helped out where needed. This year I am going to teach 5 & 6th grade boys and girls. Also will be doing Bible drill with 1st - 3rd grades but hoping we do that on Sunday evenings. Sunday we had a fish fry after church and baptized 4 young men. Always an exciting time.
Yesterday back at work for me but my job is only part time..20 hrs a week here at the church.
Hope you had a great weekend.

Good Morning!

Do whatever works for you. Remember we are all different, what works for me may not work for you. Stick to what you are doing, obviously it's working.

This is my last week of summer vacation. Trying to get all the last bit of thngs on my list done. Of course it's really hot this weekend. Supposed to be a little cooler next week.

Going in to work Monday to finish setting up my office. Then back again on Wednesday for a staff meeting.

Off to run a few errands before it gets any hotter.

I'll try to check in with you this evening.

Have a great weekend.

Good morning! I like that ..slow and steady..slow and steady. I agree...it will come. I am not discouraged with the weight loss right now. It is still coming off. What I need to do though is put my scale where it is not so convenient as I know weighing every day is not a good thing. I am thinking I will take it downstairs to the laundry room. Having it in my bathroom is too convenient! LOL

Sounds right to me! Sometimes it takes us a while to figure things out. But we all can do this!

One day at a time, one step at a time. It didn't come on over night and we are not going to loose it over night either. Slow and steady wins the race.

Have a great weekend!

Nice to meet you. I agree with your comments on this group. emoticon to you and your daughter on your losses. The great thing I like about the Spark way is I haven't been hungry. Usually I would eat too few calories lose some , then get way too hungry then look out food-- here I come, I guess it is like the definition of Insanity that you see often online it equals doing the same thing all the time and then expecting a 'different 'outcome.--it doesn't work!

Hi Gay!

You certainly are on the right track! 20 lbs. since June is terrific. Don't get discouraged if the weight loss slows down a bit. That tends to happen, sometimes your body just needs to catch up.

Keep up the good work. So glad you are inspiring you daughter to loose as well.

Hi, Rose. I am new to this group too. Just turned 60 this month so joined up with these ladies. I like the idea of the smaller group where we can actually get to know each other. I am working on leaving 150-ville myself. I was in 170 the first the of June and have lost 19 lbs so far. I started doing it for myself but also to encourage my youngest DD who needs to lose probably 70 lbs. She has lost 21 so far herself and I am very proud of her!
Hope to get to know everyone here too!!

Rose,

Since I live in California, we of course have lots of palm trees and lots of succulants. It's hard to keep some plants alive because of the heat. I have a indoor plants, but since I don't have a patio nothing outside. Thank heavens we have a great manager who keeps the plants thriving in the courtyard.

It is hot again here, humid as well. Supposed to get even hotter each day this week. It is 6:30 and it's 83 degrees.

Had lunch with a friend today, did a few little errands, did laundry early and a little house work before it got to hot. Now trying to catch up with emails and bills.

I thought the job situation was settled, but no such luck. Had a call from Human Resources yesterday afternoon offering me a different position with a little more time. Now I need to make a decision. I called the school today to see what the job would entail. Even though I'm an Attendance Assistant with all the cut backs, some schools have you do many other things on top of Attendance. Found out I'd be back in the main office doing receptionist work along with attendance and enrollment. Not sure I want to be into that again. Besides, that school is on a traditional schedule so I'd be without a pay check for 2 months. I want to think about it over night, but I think I'm going with my gut feeling and will stay at the school I'm at.

Tomorrow I'm going to my old school to help a friend pack up her things as she is going to a different school as well. I hope I don't have to see the Principal, not looking forward to seeing her at all. I know just seeing her with through me in a tizzy.

Enough venting, thanks for listening. Hope you all have a great evening. Stay cool and keep Sparking.

It is nice to meet you.I love rose of sharon also. I live in an urban area but they thrive around here. Just the kind of plant I like---easy to grow. I kind of thought the ticker thingy looked like a blossom from it. My name is Rose also .

I'm so glad you are getting to know some of the team members.

I got to thinking today, how many times have we heard advise from our more mature friends and family members when we were younger and never listened. How many times has someone told you to "loose the weight now, it gets harder as you get older", or "slow down and stop trying to do so much, take time for you"

Now, I find myself telling others the same thing. Why does it take so long for us to figure these things out?

How many diets have we gone on expecting that to fix everything!

It's taken me a long time to realize that it's not only the eating that needs to be fixed, it's the emotions as well. Do you rationalize your excuses? or do you still fantasize that once you loose everything will be ok? or is it projection (blaming everyone or anything else) Something to think about isn't it

Maybe I should make those questions a new forum?

Let's stick together, and support and motivate each other. I'm still searching for "onederland" almost there. Keep pushing me girls! Bug me if I loose focus. Especially since I go back to work in a little less than 2 weeks. The beginning of the school year is crazy, and being new to the school with a new counselor, (who has had no counselor experience) and a new VP should be extremely hectic and insane! But I can't let it stress me out, I have to workout everyday as well as post everyday. I'm counting on all of you!

Hi, nice to meet you. I like your name..the Rose of Sharon is a beautiful flower. When I lived in New Rochelle, NY as a child, we had Rose of Sharon trees all around the house.

I've been at Spark People for years and on too many teams. I've let most of them slip by. Most have just too many members and you're simply lost in the crowd.

We have a car ,but my husband is the only driver, but I am within walking distance of my M- F part time job. I count that a blessing (most days) because I don't have to come home and do an exercise video or anything since I get about twenty minutes that way.

I think one can become overwhelmed by joining too many 'teams'. One thing I notice growing older is I must give some thought in choosing priorities and not fill my plate too full--no pun intended--but strive for good quality. The spark pages have so much to offer.

I know the feeling! I've been up and down myself. When I first joined, I got carried away and kept joining different teams and different challenges and it go to be to much. So I had to let some of it go and I'm having a little bit easier time of it.

I did have a few set backs with a lot stress from work which caused a lot of financial stress. Things are a little better, I am working part time now as well but hoping they can find more hours for me. I need full time to be able to make ends meet. A lot of my time is spent commuting back and forth to work. I don't have a car and use public transportation.

Any way take it slow and easy, make small changes and you will find 130ville. I'm just trying to find "onederland" almost there! Yeah!!!

over the weekend. I had used the spark a couple of years ago but my computer was old and slow and it just took too long to track plus I have a life long habit of losing about 5 pounds then thinking I do not need to watch my intake /outgo as strictly ,then falling off and GUESS WHAT ... I gain back the 5 lbs. I have a new computer and commitment, so maybe I can use my wisdom that is supposed to come with age (not too sure with myself) and complete my journey. I noticed Sparks has wonderful tools if I just use them. Also this time I am just joining a few teams that I can keep up with. We all only have so many hours in the day. I joined this one because it looked active but intimate, leaving 150-ville ( I hope I can get real estate in 140-ville ,then 130ville ,so I can have a healthy BMI.finally) I will be 60 next month, been married 40 years (to the same man) no children , work part time, and just moved last year into a fixer-upper that takes a lot of our time but we do enjoy it. Looking forward to getting to know all.
