Hi I've been with Spark for a number of years, just not participating on teams for a while. I am ready to jump in with the group and give support and get some. I'm counting calories, logging my food, keeping a daily journal (notebook) and exercising to exercise videos. I've
got my plan written down and am determined to stick it out and lose the extra weight that I need to lose and have more energy.

My name is Danielle, I am 27 and I just started using Spark People last month. It isn't easy for me to admit but I have an eating disorder. This is the first time I have tried losing weight in a healthy way. I think my years of restricting and purging have affected my body and made things a little more difficult but I am sticking to it.
I recently had a series of hip problems that eventually led to hip surgery. This made it difficult for me to be very active and I only got the okay to start exercising more aggressively in August. Because of this along with poor eating habits and having a bit of a relapse last October, I have gained weight and am unhealthy overall. I joined this sight for motivation to lose weight in a healthy way and to get positive support in this journey.
I love that this site supports life style changes for weight loss while also reminding users to love their bodies and know that they are more than the number on the scale. Sometimes it's hard for me to remember that. Knowing that I am a work in progress with the end result being a healthier me makes it so much better. I love all the videos and stories from other users that are so positive and encouraging and focused on health and happiness, not so much image. I am happy to be doing this the right way and to not do it alone.

REJOINING, OLD MEMBER...
Hi, I'm Vicki and I'm 58 years old. Salt has always been hard for me to cut back on but due to my husbands severely damaged heart he has to cut back to no more than 2000 grams a day and 1200 calories a day. So I'm following the same plan he's doing to make it easier on both of us. Right now our goals are to eat in a much healthier fashion and to lose 60 lbs over the next 12 months.

Hi everyone, newbie to the team here! My name is Barb. I've been sparking for a while on and off but finally committed to this journey this year. Have a ways to go (about 50 more lbs) but am focusing mainly on forming better eating and exercising. I have a history of losing and gaining large amounts of weight. Hello team, my name is deb. I am on a mission to lose 100lbs in one year. Today makes me 8 months and I have lost 77.2 lbs so far. I am determined to see this through. My name is Jennifer and I was wandering around aimlessly here on SP and stumbled upon this team. It sounds and looks like something that could help me so here I am :) I have a touch of OCD so I always feel like things have to be 'just right' or 'perfect' and I'm working really hard to break free of that mindset and this seems like a good place to work on it :)

Hi I am back after not being on this team for about 2 years. I have been on Sparkpeople since 2008, but on other teams.
Have lost over 50 pounds thus far, still have a minimum of 21 pounds, a maximum of 51 pounds to lose. Concerned primarily with getting my health together, which includes weight loss. emoticon

My name is Callie and I have 50 lbs to lose. I am off to a great start with SP.

I like the official SP challenges. SP Official Healthy Cooking Challenge and SP Official 'Eat Up, Slim Down' Challenge

Here are the changes I have made so far:
1. Planning meals now
2. Drinking 2.2 L of H2O per day
3. Keeping fruit in bowls throughout my house
Lastly, Tracking my food calories with (wow....lots of work there, but gotta do it!) week one of SP Official 'Eat Up, Slim Down' Challenge

It's amazing how this team has all this encouragement.
I've always been a perfectionist, and this really never helped me in any area of my life.
So, I decided to just try to improve one area at a time, one step at a time.
I started with my health because I'm sure that I need to be healthy to manage all other life areas. Now I'm too exhausted to do my work, daily tasks or even go out with friends.
I'm working on my health to change all that.

Wow... love the idea of this team!

Hi everyone, I'm a returnee to SparkPeople after 2007 when I lost 63lbs on my own. It took about 6 months and my mojo only got interrupted when my mother came to visit from overseas. I found it really tough to get back on track after a month living with her, and so I decided to join a number of different weight loss clubs in the hopes that the weekly face-to-face inspiration might help get me back on track.

It's been quite a few years of small successes, and small failures. Now, I'm around 16lbs heavier than my lowest weight. And I'm a bit disillusioned with diet clubs. I have never really succeeded by being a 'follower'. I need to pioneer my own efforts (I guess it's personal choice really).

So I've returned, feeling very motivated, to recapture that old mojo I felt in 2007.

My first goal is to lose the 16lbs I've put on in 7 years. I am expecting that will be the easiest bit... LOL.

I will then have plenty more goals to reach before I finally reach my target weight.

I love the idea of this group because I've always felt as though we sometimes put too much pressure on ourselves to be perfect at everything we do. The first thing I manage is complete self-sabotage when I pressurise myself too much.

Life was meant to be enjoyed... so with a happy heart and less stress I want to enjoy life as much as I can. And I also want to lose my excess weight.

Great being here... can't wait to see what everyone's discussing :-)

Vicki, emoticon I too, hope you will be able to participate since you do have computer issues. I am sorry your hubby is ill and wish him well. It will probably be easier for you to eat healthier since your hubby has to eat healthy. There are lots of recipes here on SP. I have made a lot of them. We do eat a lot of fresh veggies and fruits. Not quite as easy since our farmer's market is closed for winter, but we still do okay. We also eat a lot of beans and home made soups. We do eat mostly chicken, venison, and fish. Glad you are back and wish you lots of luck.

Hi, I'm back. Hope to be able to stay involved with sparkpeople this time around. Still having computer issues but will do what I can.
To those that don't know me and a reminder to those that do, I'm Vicki. I'm 57 years old and have about 68 lbs to lose. I only lost 6 lbs in 2013 so am really hoping to do much better this year.
I am married to Bob and he's just had to get a pacemaker/defibrullator in March, and is still adjusting to having a very weak heart (20% heart strength), so I tend to stress over his health a lot, and when I'm stressing out, I tend to eat more than I should. So I will be working on making healthier food choices over time.

Hello Team,

My name is Sonia, I'm 33, and I live in Western North Carolina. I'm the Mom of an awesome 5 year-old son named Valen. I've tried Spark a few times in the past (under different user names), but I'm back again after regaining 48 pounds in the past 3 (very difficult) years. The math says that's "only" an average of 16 pounds per year. "Only" 1.333 pounds per month... But blah :( It really adds up! So... I am going to make this year count!

I found a few active Spark Teams to join yesterday, and I already have tons of goodies and comments on my page :)

I just joined this team yesterday and it seems I already know a few of the ladies. I am looking forward to "meeting" and chatting with you. I live in Virginia (in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley). I have one daughter, 4 grands, and 2 great grandsons. My hubby has 2 sons, 2 grands, and 3 greats...but we consider them all belonging to both of us. I lost my weight on w/w over 10 years ago and have been maintaining for the biggest part of that time. I gained some of the weight back 2 different times, but am now back on track for quite a while. It is not easy and I work at it everyday. As we all know it is a lifetime change and we all have to make changes to make it work.

Hi, my name is Shelly. I live in Omaha, Nebraska. I've been a spark member since 2008 and have lost and gained weight along the weight. I'm at a major lull right now in losing weight. I just can't get it together. This looks like an interactive team with positive reinforcement.

I'm Mom to 5 kids (includes 2 stepsons who are seniors in high school), a daughter in college, a son who is a high school freshman, and a son who is in 1st grade. I work full time in an IT training role as well as volunteer on a training and development board, My hubby travels a good portion of the year. So I'm busy!

Looking forward to meeting everyone and getting back on track!
