thanks for your thoughts and what works for you MJLUVSANIMALS! I appreciate that. I think you are right about the fruits and veggies being consumed and the diary,sugar, refined flours etc not being consumed meaning that you no longer have the cravings. I guess I just have to remember there is no quick fix for me and i just have to eat right every day and eventually the cravings won't be an issue for me. years ago when i was a vegan who ate mostly fresh fruits and vegetables (and some brown rice and lentils etc.) I didn't get any cravings for chips and chocolate and certainly wasn't addicted. I am really optimistic that beginning a daily meditation practice again will help too, even if I just start out with 5 minutes a day.

I feel that my cravings are gone because I don't eat the food that triggers them. Still not sure which one, but I gave up dairy, sugar, all refined foods (white flour, rice etc.) I am still guilty of eating Townhouse flatbread crackers, better than potato chips, which I used to eat by the boatloads! lol. It has fairly good ingredients, but still too big of a list, which means somewhere in there is a bad thing. I am going to finish off the box and find some other form of "crunch" I do eat at least 3 to 4 fruits a day, I believe that helps sugar craving. Even commercials don't phase me these days. Guess I must be doing something right! There is so many ideas by our fellow Sparkers as to what they eat instead of chips and chocolates. Kale chips sounds interesting. I do have a dehydrator that has been tucked away in a bottom cabinet for centurys now. May have to look at bringing that out. Air pop is good, not sure about adding the olive oil though. But for now the fruit and lots of veges seem to be doing the job on not craving anything. This is my sixth week and I haven't touched any bad foods. I am so proud. MJ
Hi there everyone! I have been on Sparkpeople since July 2012 but just joined this team today. I am so happy to be joining here. I am a 38 year old woman in Toronto, used to eat a lot healthier but in my thirties fell off the wagon a bit. I have been increasing the whole foods in my diet and reducing the processed foods as part of my health and fitness journey. I'm needing to kick my cravings for chips and chocolate though so if anyone has any tips for that I would love to know. So far apart from air popping organic non GMO corn kernals and adding himalayan salt and olive oil (ok so not ideal LOL) the only thing I have come up with is to roast chopped up parsnips and zucchini in my oven and to eat that instead. Yummy.
