Hi and Welcome! I also have a snack on the way home - usually almonds or trail mix with various nuts and dried fruit (measured into a snack size bag). It also helps to have somethng crunchy sometimes such as baby carrots or pepper strips. As frequently as possible, I take my dog for a walk as soon as I get home, and I have my supper planned ahead of time.

I am also a high school teacher and the drive home is brutal since I am usually hungry and sleepy. I also pack a snack for the ride home and I drink a ton of water. I usually have my almonds and a piece of fruit and again a ton of water! You can do it! Also, if possible, make dinner as soon as you get home. We have dinner by 5:00-5:30 which was a big change from our usual 7:00 dinnertime. But this helps with our overeating and our snacking in the evening. Good luck!

Hi Laurie! I have had the same problem. I eat a healthy snack before I leave school (one I packed). You could eat it when you get home instead if that works better. Sometimes I found I wasn't that hungry, I just wanted to munch on something. Kind of a reward for making it through the day. I eat 5-6 small meals so I don't usually get to the point of starving unless I miss one. I pack everything and don't eat any school food. Good luck!

Hello! I have been experimenting with SparkPeople since October and am now ready to put my full effort into it. I have put on weight over the past 8 years due to age, stress, and quitting smoking. I am looking forward to losing in 2012!
I am a high school science teacher. The most difficult time of day for me is when I get home. I feel very hungry and eat a lot of high carb snack to fill up and relax. Does anyone have any suggestions to help me curb this?
