Amen!

The toughest boss I ever had was when I owned my own restaurant.

It seems like a lot of people want to own a restaurant - or some kind of Hallmark-type gift store.

I was a District Manager for Hallmark's largest franchisor. Getting "shrinkage" (theft) below 3% was enough stress to make most of my managers (all ladies) cry when it was review time. Turnover was about 90% a year.

When I owned my own restaurant, my boss had me working seven (and sometimes eight) days a week. I was finally able to convince him that six days a week were enough. The first time I convinced him I needed a vacation, he made me call the restaurant three days during the week I was gone.

Drove me crazy.

After two years, I sold the restaurant to another fool and went back to an easier job - taking baby pictures.

@ QuickSylver "..... get bent".

As the son of an LAPD policeman and the father of a KCMO policeman (before he started his own business), you have my vote.

I might even ask, "So why are you cheating on your taxes then?"

Of course then I would probably have some time on a desk or on unpaid leave, but ..... it ..... just ..... might be ..... worth it..... !

Quoting myself here - for when people tell me as a cop that they pay my paycheck...

"Your taxes don't pay my check, they go to fix the potholes out on Hwy 55. My taxes pay my paycheck." And then I always want to add, but don't "So, I'm self-employed and if you want to take it up with my boss, feel free. She'll just tell you to get bent."

I don't remember the movie, but the quote was in response to a prediction of doom and gloom:

"Well, aren't u just a bright little ray of sunshine?"

Love it!

"The problem with America is stupidity. Iím not saying there should be a capital punishment for stupidity, but why donít we just take the safety labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself?"
