Welcome to the Steampunk Health team! Join in the fun. Sometimes we make cool stuff. Sometimes we just talk about it. Sometimes we just talk about whatever is interesting or challenging us lately. It's all good.

In just two days from now, tomorrow will be yesterday. Do it NOW!
Welcome to the team!
Penny ( a whole lot easier than saying Penelope )
Glad to have you join us! Our team has been a bit scattered lately but there is a solid core of us who check in regularly and we love to chat about all things geeky, crafty, costumed or just happens to be going on. I'm looking forward to getting to know you better!

On into the Aether
I've been a costumer since I was14 and a lover of Victoriana since kindergarten when we lived in a grand old Victorian mansion. I grew up watching sci fi and horror films every Saturday, and became addicted to Doctor Who when the local PBS station started broadcasting it around 1980. I first heard of Steampunk when I was at Cotume Con in San Jose a few years ago and only in a very limited way. Since then I've seen it cropping up more frequently and a couple of weeks ago a friend and I even discovered a Steampunk costume shop which only deals with custom (and pricey) designs.
I guess the appeal to me of Steampunk is how historic influences can be morphed into a different look, usually in a science fiction or fantasy look but straight Steampunk doesn't need to try to disguise the historic nature of the garment. Also, I don't have to worry if my fabric choices are authentic, so it opens up a world of possibilities.
There is a Steampunk convention in town in July and I'm considering going since it's quite reasonably priced.
