Hi my name is Regina and I'm an overeater / binge eater / emotional eater
Ok, I'm back at Spark People a few pounds heavier than a few weeks ago when I created my page. I have been eating and eating all the wrong foods and not many of the right foods. I had read on here somewhere that when a craving hits to ride it like a wave and that it will crest and subside. During the couple of weeks that I was tracking, I did that and it worked. Since I fell off though I've been giving in to every craving. Yesterday was 2 candy bars and chocolate covered pretzels.
My daughter is getting married the end of July and instead of losing weight, I'm gaining weight. I have to turn this around. I've never posted much on Spark People but am going to try this avenue to get my thoughts and feelings out there. Right this minute, I feel like such a loser (or should it be gainer :( ) But I'm going to start tracking again, even on days when I know I've eaten way over my goal range. Inwardly I know I am the only one that can do this - with help from God. I've been on so many diets so I know what to do. It just seems when I lose a pound, my body recognizes it has let go of it and demands it back. So then I eat it back plus more. Writing that sounds weird but it's how I think my body thinks. I want my body to think it wants to be stronger and leaner. Reading all of your posts helps encourage me that I can do this. I can ride the wave!

Welcome to the team! it's good that you realize you have an issue with food. Don't they say acceptance is the first step of recovery? as long as you work on it and look for solutions you can deal with it. Pest of luck

Hi Jenn! Welcome to the team! Lots of good ideas below. Also, veggies are very low in calories so would make a good snack item.
I tend to eat when I'm tired, very little self-control then. So, make sure you get enough rest.

Welcome aboard! Take SMALL steps each time each month. For instance, reducing or eliminating soda. For another, increase exercise. For another, make a goals/rewards list. for xyz weight you achieve a new pair of shoes, a haircut or something.
Wednesday I begin my 3rd week WITHOUT soda, and my pants are fitting looser, and losing inches on my thighs. I have cappuccino, ice tea and water instead. I sometimes have hot tea, including green tea.
Welcome aboard! Glad to have you on the team! Together we can do it!

Welcome to the team Jen! My advise, don't try to change too much at one time. Pick one or two small things to change at a time. Maybe say, when I feel the need to binge I will drink a glass of water with fiber first and wait 10min - if I still feel the need to eat, I will but only after I have waited 10 min.

Hi folks,
Somehow my life has gotten away from me. I'm 40, and 120 pounds overweight. Every morning I step on the scale and it is edged up a bit more than the previous day. Why? Because I'm a binge eater. A compulsive binger. As in every night. NOT bingeing for a night takes a supreme effort of will.
Anyhow, I'm just throwing my hat into the ring of newbies though I'm certainly not a newbie when it comes to trying to get my weight and life under control.
I've got to. I don't have a choice any more. I've got to get this under control!
