So glad to have you join us. I have a great book from Michio Kushi and Alex Jack
The Macrobiotic Path to total health. I am going to be looking up nerve problems. I have had something that is similar to MS but the Doctors has diagnosed me with any thing. But as I find things out on the nerve diseases I will let you know. emoticon

Hi, my name is Leigh and I just today decided macrobiotics is the way to go. I don't eat red meat and as I live on the Mediteranean we have fresh fish in abandance and the red meat here is horribl (I actually come from South Africa where a steak a day is part of the lifestyle - but I've been here 10 years and am now used to not eating it) The main problem I see myself facing is not having dairy. I adore dairy - i also have asthma...(mmmm- makes one think!)

I have CMT (Charcot Marie Tooth disease) which is a degenerative periphereal nerve disease and think that this change may help me too. I have been on a spiritual path for more than 20 years, do healing work, meditation, etc...so this change in my diet is really what I NEED- and I think it will unlock many more doors...

To bring anything into your life, imagine that it's already there.

Welcome, I am so glad you came. I am trying to find some of the basic recipes to help those that are new get started. I use Michio Kushi and Alex Jack, Aveline Kushi, and Wendy Esko, Christina Pirello, And the All Natural Menopause diet,by Theresa Cheung.

Some seem to explain things more basic than others. If you have any questions please ask. I am still learning too, so I don't know all the answers, but it is great to know you are not alone. emoticon Kathy

I am pretty much a newbie to macrobiotics. My psychiatrist recommended the diet after a new bipolar medication started raising my cholesterol levels. Plus we are taking a rather holistic approach to managing my mood swings. I may have to live with the meds. But I can choose to live with them in a healthier way.

Assalamu Alaikum ~ Peace be with You.

Hi I am Kathy. I have been eating macro for 10 years strict for health issues. When I started I was very sick. My sister in law called my mom and said you better come quickly if you want to see her again. They thought I only had a short while to live.
The Doctors have never figured out what it is that I have ( that is the hardest part of this battle). But with the diet therapy I have been able to continue to work my day care, and for the most part - people can't see the illness that I battle daily.
I also work reflexology on myself. Between the diet and the reflexology it cuts the pain in half. So I only take a very small amount of medication.
I went off the diet for a few years as I started having more symptoms. We thought I had eaten strict for to long. But I find that I was having more pain, and other health issues were coming up so I am going back strict macro. I have eaten clean for over a week and the chiropractor is amazed at how it has changed my body already.
Kathy
